Following from the (ver popular!) thread about butter I started s few days ago, I decided I want a butter dish to start keeping part of the butter outside the fridge.
Need inspo, how about a show me a pic of your butter dish thread? 😆

This is such a lovely thread, and very appropriate for someone with my username!

Mine is the LC too, in Navy. It was a Christmas present a few years ago!

DD1 is at university and has one with bees on from The Range. Cost about £8.

I've changed my user name because this is outing (yep seriously).

My sister broke my old, tasteful butter dish and replaced it with this monstrosity. Which for some reason I still use despite a) the aforementioned hideousness and b) it won't hold a full block of butter!

I have this one currently from Amazon but keep breaking the lids (granite worktops and china butter dishes don't seem to go well together) so always have a spare in stock.

I have this one. We've had it five or six years, it's really sturdy, looks good as new, and I love it. canterburypottery.com/shop/product/butter-dish/

Check out TKMaxx/Homesense if you can get to one. We got out Le Crueset one there for about £20.

I was given this one for Christmas - it's lovely but doesn't go with anything else I have.

I'm contemplating returning it before the extended returns window closes next week. But feel guilty as it was from a good friend who thinks my kitchen needs 'cheering up'. I disagree and love my plain ware.

This is mine.

Pretty boring and I'm jealous of all the pretty ones. But I also like to be able to always see how much butter I have 😄

I'd suggest quite the reverse. I find that in cold weather like we're having now, the butter is hard and moves around on a flat base. I have both types of butter dishes (I.e. flat base and container) and I much prefer the container type. I have no problems getting butter out when there's very little left.

I prefer the flat base/domed top due to terrible memories of my in-laws constantly putting a new block of butter in their deep dish without ever washing it. I had rancid butter at their house so often I can still taste it now many years after they died! The trauma!

BusyCaz · 23/01/2025 17:03

Ordered myself a butter dish and a butter knife, I now feel officially grown up 😆
