Need inspo, how about a show me a pic of your butter dish thread? 😆

I have teal Le Crueset one, got mine from tk maxx for £12 but I think they've stopped selling Le Crueset now

There's loads of Le Crueset on their website

fatimashortbread · 24/01/2025 20:41

This one on the left is my dining table one (from Guerande where there a myriad of butter dish shops) and the one on the right is my kitchen one which is a 70s original Tupperware inherited from my much loved and not long departed MiL

We have a vintage Lurpak dish with Douglas the butter man as the handle on the lid. We did have one that had no handle which was a bit useless.

Ooh thank you! I'll have a look! My local stores only seem to have copies of their stuff!

Very old but still does the job.

How about a vintage Poole Pottery one. Twin tone ones are 2 colours. Really lovely. Or a crystal one. Have a look on Ebay

Jonathan Adler whale butter dish, I don't think they make the design anymore but I love it

This is mine, classic le Creuset in volcanic orange, I've got an orange glass wall in my kitchen. I love that green splatter one from H&M upthread. My D1 and her bf have done handpainted ones at a pottery place. Love a butter dish.

I have a vintage pottery one that I paid about £1 for from a charity shop a couple of years ago - it is an item of envy apparently! If it gets damaged I shall hunt down another vintage one although now I'm tempted by a Le Creuset!

SillyShoes · 25/01/2025 09:48

I've just gone to buy one of these online, and there's a review that says it doesn't hold a whole block of butter. Does it hold a 250gm block??? I don't want to buy it and be disappointed!

This is mine. Very pretty, but I didn’t pay £42, I can assure you 😁I brought it from a le cruset outlet (always ask to see the grade 2 items with slight imperfections) this one had a slight grey mark on the underside of the dish so not visible.

I also have this be, in pink, and purchased from an outlet shop… clearly no one pays full price lol.

It is perfect for its purpose

Mine's OK (snug fit) but the sides of the lid are quite 'rustic' (i.e. not exactly straight and varying in thickness) so I can see the comment about the sides catching could potentially be valid for some of them. Let me know if you want a pic or the exact measurements of the lid.

LC one is fab but £46 is a lot… might wait for 20% off..

Haven't read the full thread but try Tk Maxx as they often have bits of LC in x

I have the Le Creuset one in Cerise. I got for it for my birthday (because I begged for it). My life is so rock n roll.

Breathmiller · 25/01/2025 11:42

Loving this thread.

Apologies to all the pure butter fans but we are dairy intolerant here but I love a butter dish and use mine for Vegan Naturli blocks which is the closest thing to butter I can get.

I have the plain Tesco white one for the Narurli. But, also a small round one that came from my great Aunt that I use for little bits of real butter for my son. I love the simplicity of the white one and love the vintage look of the little one.

I have open shelves and they both sit on there.

I love seeing everyone's different dishes, from plain to fun to classic to rustic. I'd never heard of a butter bell but like the idea of getting one.
