A poster on another thread suggests this is unreasonably but I don't see why.

People are even blaming men now for lack of toilet space

What like the mainly male architects that will have designed them…. 😂

They never need to because the queue is always for the ladies.

You are not answering the question.
Never mind what the lengths of the queues at normal circumstances.
It could very well happen one day that a man decides to enter the ladies bathroom for some reason. Would you be happy about that?
I would not. And therefore, I don't think it would be correct the other way around.

She did later say she'd be fine with that and imagines most people would. 🙄

I don't think it is invading "Men's spaces" because I would dispute if there was such a thing. Female-only spaces exist because women are statistically more likely to be raped and threatened by men. Reverse the polarities so to speak, and a woman is less likely to threaten a man when he's standing with his penis out at a urinal.

So I don't see a problem with this @Everythingisnumbersnow but I'm fascinated to see the MRAs come out in force about "men's spaces". Fuck that - the stats on violence show otherwise. It's ok for us women to have spaces , and men not to. I know my DH would show mild curiosity or surprise if he saw a woman come out of the toilet, but he wouldn't feel threatened. That's the difference.

Well, you said it yourself: women are less likely to threaten a man. Which does not mean that the likelihood equal cero chance. Therefore, no, for safety reasons it is better every gender sticks to their bathrooms.

crystallina · 22/01/2025 22:10

Have you ever done it?
I don’t recommend it at all.
Once I went into the men’s in a museum by mistake. There was no one in there when I went in.
When I came out of the cubicle, there were two men using the urinals (don’t even ask how I didn’t notice those on my way past 🤦‍♀️) and another washing his hands.
They all looked at each other and laughed and I just ran out of there.
It sounds stupid but it was a very unpleasant experience and just felt all sorts of wrong.
I’m always paranoid now whether I’m going into the right toilets and have to double and triple check. I would certainly never do it on purpose.

purpleblue2 · 22/01/2025 22:11

Purely and simply because I wouldn’t want to find a man in a woman’s toilet so why would it be ok for me to use a man’s. It’s personal intimate and I imagine would be quite intimidating ans for me I’d jump out of my skin if a man was in the toilets with me anxiety and panic would hit the roof.

I wouldn't hugely care

According to whom?

The men!!! @Everythingisnumbersnow

you are unbelievable and evidentially a troll. What an idiot! Women’s toilets are for
women and men’s are for men!!! Not to mention I would not want to take my 3 year old daughter into a toilet to find a man in there at all floor to ceiling door or not which you’ll find most aren’t. You are so strange

purpleblue2 · 22/01/2025 22:17

If you asked a group of men I bet they’d say well they’ve got their own fucking toilets and wouldn’t like
me using there’s!! I know my daughters dad would be like wtf get out! If he seen a woman in a MANS TOILET

Everythingisnumbersnow · 22/01/2025 22:41

Well no men have ever complained to me

Just to be clear - you're annoyed about me nipping into a toilet that is just a single room no one else can possibly be in at the same time as me just because it has a man sticker on the door?

Op, where are you actually going with this?

DutchCowgirl · 23/01/2025 06:21

But why are men comfortable with urinals anyway… I mean why is ok to show your genitals to strangers just because they are also men? But would it be mortifying to show them to strangers who happen to be women? I wouldn’t want to have a toilet where other strange women can see my private parts…

No. The sticker itself is only important in as far as it signals who the room is designated for. It could be the word 'men' or a picture of a cat in a top hat and tails. What people are saying they think is wrong, is to use a space that has been put there for use by the biological sex that you are not. That people do not like it when you do this. 87% of people want seperate toilets for men and women so that's a sizable majority who want their toilets free from the opposite sex.

UnicornWorld · 22/01/2025 23:36

I assume its just the old debate from a new angle. Get women to agree there's no problem in using toilets for the opposite sex, just a sticker on the door, just 'wanna pee' and get out. No one minds. Urinary leash references. All familiar stuff.

PreferMyAnimals · 23/01/2025 06:45

I've done it when the women's were locked on a couple of occasions, but I had my adult son with me. He went in and checked there were no men on the urinals (they deserve privacy and not a woman walking in), gave me the all clear, and I went quickly and straight out with my son keeping watch.

Only out of desperation and annoyed they locked the women's!

In general, no, it's not okay unless there's something like my situation here.

MereDintofPandiculation · 23/01/2025 19:35

no one is expecting a woman to wait 15 or 30 mins. Why not take it up with the women who are lingering in the loo?
Even when I have my periods, it doesn't take me 30 - or even 10 - minutes to sort myself out. I don't think the females in my house use the toilets for longer than the boys...Most toilets don't have a private sink and mirror in each cubicle either.
'
Eh? Where's this fantasy coming from?
Have you never been to an event where there's been a "comfort break" and 30 or more women have pitched up to the loos at the same time?

But she's later thrown in that it was an individual toilet...so I assume the whole thing was baiting.

So true.

This is a FUNDAMENTAL difference which is not talked about often enough.
We fear men because of what they can AND DO do to us; men don't fear us because - in about 95% of cases - they could overpower us in the unlikely event that we tried to attack them.
I've used men's or boys' toilets often enough and (a) I've never been shouted at, and (b) I've never actually seen a peeing dick - they keep them hidden even from each other!

So if you are so worried about what men could do to you, surely you wouldnt want to use a toilet that is full of men?

Just stick to the ladies and men can stick to the mens. Why is it so fucking hard?

2JFDIYOLO · 03/05/2025 18:26

You are being totally unreasonable.

Many women want single sex space.

So do many men.

My other half was aghast to be standing there in full flow and realise there was a young girl passing behind him.

Mem deserve privacy and dignity too.

JustAnotherManicMomday · 03/05/2025 18:33

YABU, if you would not like men using the ladies why on earth should you use the mens. If you have a penis use the mens if you have a vagina use the ladies.

Don't be using the other just because yours is busy. Men have a right to pee in privacy too. The same way most women would be fuming to find a man using the ladies.
