I’ve put this on AIBU as it appears to be most read. A brilliant article about the rape gangs and the ensuing cover up.

The MCB doesn’t decide if there is an enquiry.

Didn't say they did 🙄

In her own way, she is ensuring that this stays in the limelight.

I'd bet money that this person is male.

SpryCat · 09/01/2025 11:09

When George Floyd was killed is the U.S everyone jumped on the BLM, even our politicians and famous footballers. That was ok though for the U.K to show we felt it was horrific how the police treated him! When a rich American puts the spotlight on the failings of our governments to protect our children from grooming gangs that is still ongoing so many are up in arms!
White children matter, brown children matter as do black children and grooming gangs need to be stopped, anyone with dual passports needs to be expelled from England and the rest need a very long sentence in prison.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 11:09

There WERE cover ups precisely because of fear of allegations of racism.

This is why the race of the rapists is important.

Exactly. This is fundamental. Just like people at the BBC and elsewhere were afraid for their jobs if they called out Savile, and looked the other way. I've mentioned elsewhere on this site how my own employer at the time let him sexually harass one of their young female employees in plain sight of everyone in the room (not me, I'm going by what she told me in 2004).

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 11:14

The inquiry, if there is one, should be a broad one into how agencies worked to protect vulnerable young people and bring perpetrators to justice - what went right and what went wrong. If there were cover ups then this needs exposing.

That's exactly what most people on this thread that are asking for one want. There were cover ups. It's not an "if" it's a proven fact. Read the Casey Rotherham Council inquiry report. Read Maggie Oliver's accounts. I've posted links to both on the thread.

Gunnersforthecup · 09/01/2025 11:14

This is not a brilliant article. But this https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0026ncy
is actually good journalism. from 37sec in, on this topic.

Andrew Norfolk, chief investigative journalist at the Times, spent 4 years trying to clarify and publicize what was going on with these rape gangs.

It looks as though Nazir Afzal and Keir Starmer acted pretty appropriately in the circumstances.

And, according to Andrew Norfolk, the young women involved were themselves very upset by Elon Musk's interventions, which were inappropriate. And triggering.

Here’s a demonstration of the anti- Muslim agenda.

The below is a thread from Nov 2023 about the white Glasgow grooming gang.

TW!! Peado ring and child violence | Mumsnet

Trigger warning!! I am shocked and sickened at the news coming out about the child abuse ring in Scotland. The acts are extremely depraved. How can...

So why say crack on? They can’t crack on.

I don’t think the UK is in any position to judge the USA on racism.

I didn't see this thread at the time. I'm not on here 24/7 but you're comparing apples to pears.

I don't think there was an institutional cover up about the race of these abusers to the detriment of the victims.

It is that that has attracted attention and caused debate.

It is not racist to point out an institutional cover up!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 11:20

@PeppyGreenFinch

It's a thread started late at night in the most high traffic area of the site, which didn't get any traction. There are plenty of threads about white paedophiles, it might help your search if you spell the word correctly.

"Here’s a demonstration of the anti- Muslim agenda."

No it isn't.

There are a lot of replies because this stuff has been on the news recently and there are a lot of people with opinions either side. Not everyone posting is anti Muslim, by a long chalk.

Ah yes, there’s always a reason why there is very little interest in girls when they’re the victims of white rapists and grooming gangs.

No wonder the victims have come out in support of Jess Phillips. They know the interest from the Musk cohort is sly and calculating.

Why don’t you link some about the white grooming gangs then?

Your excuses are laughable.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 11:23

Claiming that a single thread which failed to get posts is evidence of an "anti Muslim agenda" is extremely disingenuous, and not engaging in good faith posting. There are thousands of threads about paedophiles on Mumsnet. It's a parenting site so many people, who are mostly women, are motivated by protecting and safeguarding children.

That’s not true though. This disparity is visible time and time again.

There is very little interest in white grooming gangs.

There is something seriously wrong with your comprehension.

Of course people care about the all sexual abuse victims. I am one. My rapist was white.

You're OK with institutional cover ups because the victims' abusers are Muslim for reasons only you can know. That doesn't make you a good guy. It makes you an apologist.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 11:25

I'm not engaging further with this attempt to derail the thread with whataboutery about random threads. It only has a few posts left. This poster is repeatedly not engaging with people they disagree with in a civil, respectful manner, so I'm just going to scroll past from now on.

Any time someone tries to expose the racist stereotyping of Muslims, you and your cohort throw around the accusation of apologist, with zero evidence.

You did this last night too. Anytime you get uncomfortable with the truth, you say you’re not engaging. And then start posting to me again.

Bernardscheesyhat · 09/01/2025 11:29

I don’t object to an enquiry, or to the implementation of recommendations from previous enquiries. I would trust to those in authority to decide which of these options works and I would hold them to account for implementation. As we should have been doing for all of the governments in charge since this scandal first came to light.

I have not denied that pockets of Muslim society and some behaviours are problematic for UK society. We need to deal with these issues, but without being led by the nose by Musk. Some on this thread may have rational positions, he clearly does not. He is stoking up anger and division in countries that he doesn’t live in, like a man baby smashing up his toys just for lolz.

we should learn from the summer riots - a frenzy of violence stoked by misinformation and lives destroyed on both sides.

Yes I did also post an extract from a Times piece of his published yesterday. He thinks more needs to be done and like Maggie Oliver, was disappointed that the inquiry shied away from looking at these gangs as a specific phenomenon.
