Gov refuses home office investigation into historic child sex abuse in Oldham

I've just read on x that Jess Phillips has formally declined Oldham council's request for the HO to investigate the grooming gangs in Oldham. Why on Earth would they do this? Apparently JP says it should be a local investigation? Clearly that is a conflict of interests and if the council are asking for help they should?

The only link I can find other than x is GB news (apologies).

I used to dance in Oldham in the 90s as a young teen, we were all warned by the organisers and the principals of our troupes even then about these men. It was common knowledge and nobody did a thing

We came up weekly from Cheshire and they would hang around in cars harassing young girls and by young I mean we were 12-16

Shock

Nobody’s detracting. The truth is that the story was broken long before GB news existed.

The story about the letter wasn’t though.

Honestly so many tears because a news outlet they don’t like got an exclusive.

Sammy Woodhouse is one of the victims. She is campaigning still. Why is the media not reporting this?

She is on X too.

’Let’s not forget, any children born from this rape and abuse in our court of law are entitled to contact with them.
@sammywoodhouse1
has campaigned tirelessly to remove the evil inhumane trauma of the rape victim having to hand over their child to their rapist!!!!’

I’ve been reading about Sammy Woodhouse’s story & campaigning for many years. It’s not true to say it’s not been covered. Eg https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-46368991.amp & https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2021/feb/16/abuse-survivor-calls-uk-children-born-rape-victim-status-rotherham & again the Times led on it https://news.sky.com/story/amp/sammy-woodhouse-rotherham-rapist-arshid-hussain-told-he-could-see-victims-son-11565791 & https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/nov/29/rapist-father-victim-children-sammy-woodhouse-rotherham-child-abuse

GB News is the only outlet carrying this. Odd, isn’t it?

Charlie, the Investigative reporter at GB News has made it his mission to get justice for the abused children and their parents and bring all the cover ups and collusion by people in power, into the open.

Government and local Councillors knew this was going on but because of the ethnicities of the men involved it was swept under the carpet and young lives were destroyed.

The transcripts of the Rotherham rape scandal of largely white children have been aired and the descriptions are horrific...Substitute Rotherham for Oldham for Telford and on and on...The towns of once "Great Britain"

It is a truly tragic scandal of epic proportions that people in power, the Government, police, councillors, social workers, care staff have failed young people abused by rape gangs....NOT grooming gangs... RAPE gangs.

SHAME on all those that stood by!!

....So lets have the investigations and expose the rotten underbelly of our negligent institutions and Government. We should demand they are exposed and prosecuted.

askmenow · 02/01/2025 04:03

And support GB News to do it....They get so much stick from the purportedly "worthy channels" who continue to bury stories that don't fit with their view of the world or what they believe we, the public should hear.

Those self righteous Networks will just bury their heads in the sand in order not to upset the applecart of pretence that this country is a cohesive society.

What I find most abhorrent is that the women in their families fail to call out such shameful crimes/behaviours and presumably still sleep in the same bed as these vile men.

ChippedIkeaFurniture · 02/01/2025 04:05

Perzival · 02/01/2025 00:59

I wonder why it isn't being covered by more news agencies. I only came across it because I was bored and going through "trending".

If Oldham are left to their own investigation there will always be cries of it being not thorough enough. Surely an independent inquiry would be better?

I feel a bit like I've opened a can of worms which I wish I hadn't as I don't feel I know enough about the politics behind it all. I was just shocked that it had been refused.

I wonder why it isn't being covered by more news agencies.

Because girls being mass-raped isn’t worth rocking the boat of civil unrest over. The message is loud and clear - girls don’t really matter that much. They can be sacrificed to ‘keep the peace’. Oh, and the votes of course.

askmenow · 02/01/2025 04:22

Perzival · 02/01/2025 01:24

I've reported the thread and asked for it to be taken down. I was just shocked and didn't fully understand the situation which I now see is much more complicated.

I do want those poor girls to get justice and for this to be investigated and spoke about. I don't support vawg. I just don't think I know enough about what is such a sensitive topic.

That's a real shame because WE women need to get angry and call out the perversions that are STILL going on in our towns by men who don't conform to societal norms.

porridgecake · 02/01/2025 04:48

Charlie gives credit to Andrew Norfolk in the first few minutes of the video. The video is really a summary of all the events, reports, investigations and cover ups and credit is given to every police officer, organisation and individual who tried to expose what was happening. He names all those who suppressed information and lied. Charlie has just put it all together.
I remember listening to Anne Cryer being interviewed on radio about this back in 2002 or 3 and she said then that she knew it would all be covered up.
The BBC made a Silent Witness drama episode (fictional) based on this years ago. They wouldn't do it now. It was pretty shocking.

CrocsNotDocs · 02/01/2025 05:02

She’s a virtue-signalling lib fem. I have no idea why this would surprise anyone.

CrocsNotDocs · 02/01/2025 05:15

There is something so sinister about this. It has happened all across the UK. There needs to be a Royal Commission on this (or the UK equivalent.

Something stinks about the road blocking and carpet sweeping. My instinct says it involves Starmer and I don’t know how or why. I know most of the cases didn’t even get investigated by the local police, let alone get to the CPS. But something’s wrong about this. There’s a dirty trail leading to someone important and it needs to be exposed.

porridgecake · 02/01/2025 05:38

Pretty shocking that one the rapists ended up as a labour councillor. I think that is very telling.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 02/01/2025 06:31

They don’t want a proper review as the rapists or their families will be Labour Party members, local councillors, police????

AlisonDonut · 02/01/2025 06:34

AncientAndModern1 · 02/01/2025 02:58

Nobody’s detracting. The truth is that the story was broken long before GB news existed.

The story just keeps being broken over and over, and yet it is Elon we need to be worried about?

Sums the whole rotten festering putrid state of British politics and media up. Don't look at them, look at him.

User37482 · 02/01/2025 06:46

I really think it should be led externally from Oldham. Some of the testimonies from the children were that police were involved. I remember reading years ago about the fact that a local councillor had to convince some rapists to hand a girl over (he was one of the rapists cousin).

Many of these men were related, this is part of the harm of inbreeding in these communities. The extreme clannishness means that you will always cover for your family.

Anyone should be able to comment on this, it’s a fucking horrific crime. I regularly curse at the taliban, should I not be allowed to criticise because I’m not afghan.

ruffler45 · 02/01/2025 07:18

How come no Asian girls report this type of thing, does it still happen (as the norm) in their communties but everyone is too scared to speak up?

Postitnotess · 02/01/2025 07:30

Atissues · 02/01/2025 00:13

If you click on her website and click the link (listen more) it takes you to her fb page. On the 17th Jan 24 she was criticising the previous gov for not implementing the recommendations.

What changed in the last 12 months? Also @ShesNotACowShesAFox why would only GB news cover it? Surely every media would want to publish this if it was leaked to them? Thousands of girls were raped. But maybe other news outlets haven’t caught up yet.

The other TV news outlets have previously covered up child abuse of young children and teenagers. They protected their paedophile TV presenters.

Of course it happens to them and it’s not easy to speak out against your own community but at the same time, vulnerable white girls are targeted because of bigoted beliefs towards non-Muslim women (eg they are whores and it’s not morally wrong to harm them) and the apparent knowledge that the authorities will do nothing to protect lower-class white girls.

They literally tolerated rape because they don’t want us to become more racist. Which to me says they find rape more socially acceptable than racism.

Sikh and hindu girls have also been targeted but their families probably wouldn’t have gone to the police.

Some of the stuff described wasn’t just rape it was torture, children were literally tortured, one was regularly forcibly injected with heroin.

It’s horrific, I can’t imagine what these children suffered. I also can’t believe that some were deported because of a right to family life. How is having a child rapist in your family a good thing. I doubt these men were good husbands or fathers either, we would have been doing their families a favour.

Upstartled · 02/01/2025 07:57

Yes, she did. And she accepted that seat while being yelled at by a bunch of pro-palestine thugs and she was quick to denounce the kind of anti-democratic interference and aggressive intimidation she had endured in her campaign by those same men. So she isn't a complete coward when it comes to standing up for herself. Just when it doesn't benefit her.

Matthew Syed’s article on this really got me, there was a bit there that really got me.

“But I quickly discovered that researchers wouldn’t return emails or calls. When I got through to one geneticist, he said: “I can’t go there.” It was like hitting a succession of ever-higher brick walls. I then came across evidence that scientists examining the UK Biobank had found that levels of incest (father-daughter, siblings etc) were significantly higher in the British Pakistani community than the wider population. This was a disturbing finding, possibly indicating abuse of a shocking kind. But the paper was never published, disappearing into what I can only describe as an Orwellian memory hole. When I approached the researchers, they were not prepared to talk on the record. One said that he feared he might not be able to bring up his children if he whispered the truth and lost his job as a result. It was like something out of Kafka.”

Of course asian women aren’t exempt. Anyone who does this kind of thing to a child is unlikely to be a model husband or father either. I can’t imagine the kinds of crimes against women and children that are being hidden within these communities.
