Gov refuses home office investigation into historic child sex abuse in Oldham

I've just read on x that Jess Phillips has formally declined Oldham council's request for the HO to investigate the grooming gangs in Oldham. Why on Earth would they do this? Apparently JP says it should be a local investigation? Clearly that is a conflict of interests and if the council are asking for help they should?

The only link I can find other than x is GB news (apologies).

It appears Charlie peters has researched for a long time (since 2021) and only GB news were interested.

‘We had some immense footage, exclusive interviews, and a big vision, even if we were a couple of amateurs. Our project was turned down by almost everyone. Even the right-wing media didn’t want to work with me. Let alone the big broadcasters. But GB News saw promise.
@ColinBrazierTV
put me on his programme to discuss my project, and soon after the channel commissioned me to make a documentary. It was time to reveal Britain’s shame’.

The more you read the more shocking this cover up becomes.

charlie peters did a documentary for GB news in 2023.

I am now questioning why I am always hearing GB news are terrible. Is it because they research areas that make people uncomfortable.

@Sunworshiper I agree the more I read the more shocking it is. Is the media part of the cover up?

VisitationRights · 02/01/2025 01:51

The judges sentencing remarks are horrific. What these girls lived through is beyond anything I would have imagined when I read about the ‘grooming gangs’. Shame on every person who has tried silence the voices of women and girls who were harmed saying it was racist to talk about it.

Samantha Smith (x.com/SamanthaTaghoy/status/1874608348827705614) uses her voice to expose the corruption that still continues and tries to hide what is going on and has said she will raise a petition to get the much needed full independent review. Keep an eye out, the momentum is here.

AncientAndModern1 · 02/01/2025 01:52

There have been several successful locally commissioned independent reviews including the Jay Report into the Rotherham sex abuse gangs. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy4ynzppk80o.amp. I think that Phillips is right to say that the government’s focus should be on making sure the reports’ findings are fully implemented.

Yes, I fully agree, unfortunately I followed a lot of MN posters advice on GB News and avoided them. Now I think I’m starting to realise maybe I need to broaden my horizons.

I may not always agree with the right, but they are spot on here. Why are they the only ones highlighting this???

Sorry Rotherham council have asked for assistance and Jess Philips is brushing it aside. I completely disagree with you.

Sammy Woodhouse is one of the victims. She is campaigning still. Why is the media not reporting this?

She is on X too.

It’s rubbish to say that GB news has led on this. The story was exposed by a dogged and determined Times reporter, Andrew Norfolk, whose bosses gave him five month to investigate this one story, which blew the whole story wide open back in 2011 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3w69p2vz0lo.amp

It’s Oldham, not Rotherham. I linked to the Jay Report which was the independent report on the abuse gangs in Rotherham.

Nobody cares what you think of GBnews. Stop try to detract from the story that continues to this very day and the victims, it’s sickening.

iwasntexpectingthatoops · 02/01/2025 02:07

I used to dance in Oldham in the 90s as a young teen, we were all warned by the organisers and the principals of our troupes even then about these men. It was common knowledge and nobody did a thing

We came up weekly from Cheshire and they would hang around in cars harassing young girls and by young I mean we were 12-16

I've reported the thread and asked for it to be taken down. I was just shocked and didn't fully understand the situation which I now see is much more complicated.

I do want those poor girls to get justice and for this to be investigated and spoke about. I don't support vawg. I just don't think I know enough about what is such a sensitive topic.

It's good that you started the thread. It needs to be discussed and given more importance.

Because leftie luvvies hold a lot of power over the media narrative. GB News do some good work and some poor work - like every media outlet

These are the recommendations from the Jay Inquiry. I feel they're lacking in regards to scrutiny of police and politicians.

And a good thing he is, too. His reach is apparently needed as our own cowardly, agenda-driven government and media would very much like to keep this quiet. "Waded in" indeed. If only someone, anyone, everyone who became aware - and there were a lot of them, a lot of them who knew and ran cover for the rapists - had "waded in" long before now.

"Grooming" gangs softpedals what these monsters did. The details are absolutely horrific.

Good on Musk! Philips is a bloody disgrace, always has been only giving a shit about herself

No, my question was as stated. Musk is part of the US government and he's calling for a British MP to be imprisoned and interfering in another countries politics.

You seem to think decisions made by the government are a free for all and foreign governments should freely tell us what to do.

Oldham council are going to do an investigation into what happened there and it's about time.

I for one certainly don’t trust Oldham Council to decide anything correctly ! FFS 🤦‍♀️

AncientAndModern1 · 02/01/2025 02:39

Oldham Police have also set up Operation Sherwood and is making arrests. https://www.gmp.police.uk/police-forces/greater-manchester-police/areas/greater-manchester-force-content/au/about-us/operation-sherwood/ I’m not saying that everything that could be done has been done or that the appallingly sadistic and brutal gangs have been eliminated - or that all the cover ups have been exposed and perpetrators brought to justice. Remember all this happened over decades. But it’s not true to say that nothing has been done.

Nobody’s detracting. The truth is that the story was broken long before GB news existed.
