Gov refuses home office investigation into historic child sex abuse in Oldham

I've just read on x that Jess Phillips has formally declined Oldham council's request for the HO to investigate the grooming gangs in Oldham. Why on Earth would they do this? Apparently JP says it should be a local investigation? Clearly that is a conflict of interests and if the council are asking for help they should?

The only link I can find other than x is GB news (apologies).

Labour REJECTS Oldham's call for Government inquiry into grooming gangs scandal

Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips has said Oldham should 'take its own approach' instead

I'm not quite sure why you want a man who backs Robinson & wants to bring down the democratically elected Govt, interfering in the UK?

You are continuing with your attack line that nothing is being done to prevent CSA or the 100s of men in jail for these crimes.

I note you don't condemn the vile use of the word Pxxx, all good with you!

Just more insults.

Where has that word been used in any of the posts I am responding to?

They are over here now trying to get the thread deleted.

Maggie Oliver has a charity set up to help the victims of grooming rape and torture gangs. I'm sure it will come as no surprise to anyone to learn she receives no public funding. If anyone can spare a few pounds I'm sure it will be out to good use.

@Alexandra2001 instead of policing posts on mumsnet maybe you should do something constructive like contribute to the Maggie Oliver Foundation to help victims of rape gangs. Now that would be more constructive of you.

I wonder if more is in the public domain about the U.K. cases, you can read newspapers, court cases, books from victims, interviews etc so by mentioning that first it has been easier to then question what is happening in the USA. Americans can see what has very clearly happened here and access a multitude of sources and documentary’s about British girls.

He is sharing posts relating to American child crime now. But I think there is less evidence in the public domain about it. The U.K. were clearly an easy case to share - I’ve read a crazy amount over three days and think I’ve barely scraped the surface.

He has called for a new public investigation against this morning echoing Kemi's call... what will happen?

No you can't. If you did you wouldn't have been harping on posters to call one out. Remember the rule of discussion boards, you don't feed the troll , you ignore & move on.

Cloclo15 · 05/01/2025 09:36

This is a frightening account, and the police’s attitude to it horrific. Always bearing in mind that the ‘notorious heroin addict’ would also have been a trafficked child:

Very true i must stop responding to you, who have consistently misled and twisted over CSA abuse in this country & clearly have zero interest in protecting children as all you post is political.

Evidence for this is despite your so called concern, you never posted on subject previously.

so you allowed, in your words, a national scandal to take place but you didn't even know about it.

I was at college in the 80s and it was being reported in papers like the Independent and in Private Eye, back then.

Yet you knew nothing......

Cloclo15 · 05/01/2025 09:43

I can’t understand why posters are suggesting no enquiry and to fund the police when it is clear that the issue here is police attitudes and willingness to turn a blind eye and condemn victims. They will happily turn up at people’s doors to record NCHI or to arrest them for calling out this stuff, but mass child exploitation, not so much.
The reason they needed an enquiry for Hillsborough is predominantly because of the attitudes of the police and the media who were willing to victim blame to protect the authorities. I’ve already posted up thread that the enquiry into CSA was a way to bury the specific problem in a wider review to cover it up.
Why do people trust the authorities so much? It astounds me - so many scandals and yet people think they have our best interests at heart.

🤣🤣 Can you please link all the better organisations you said you know of who are supporting the rape gang survivors.
I asked you to link as you don't approve of the one that I shared The Maggie Oliver foundation.
Myself & other posters may want to donate to those ones too. I have asked you for links already. Thank you.

@Cloclo15 because they haven't watched the documentarys and dramatisation they aren't reading linked articles and clips like yours and over the year's they are known for staunchly defending labour no matter what

They have no deeper interest here beyond, how can I derail this and personal llly I think they should be ignored

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 09:56
  • glodwick. . This mum was told, she will be gang raped if she gets there and never seen again.

She' and the girls dad had too to go alone to save their daughter

Atissues · 05/01/2025 10:00

There is an interview A whistle blower Ex-police officer Dionne Miller "The British Labour Government ( Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith ) wilfully allowed British children to become prey to Pakistani rape gangs. They issued a BLANKET BAN on investigations."

The video is easy to find - Google Dionne Miller and blanket ban

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 10:14

@Cloclo15 surely at that point there should have been a national emergency and special powers used to free all those girls and get them out?

Are we in UK where police are casually leaving girls to be gang raped and never seen again because they are in the wrong areas??

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 10:16

We have to have accountability. Gordon brown etc need to answer questions on how and why they made those decisions and Jacqui Smith.

2 perps have had British citizenship removed and yet still live in the area 9 years on.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 05/01/2025 10:22

Alexandra2001 · 05/01/2025 08:20

Says it all when posters like you use works like the P word to describe people from Pakistan.

Out right racism there.

The mishandling and corruption surrounding this hideous situation by Lab and Cons alike can have no other effect than further damaging race relations and causing suspicion and fear of the rapists and communities who appear to have sheltered them. See the examples of the families of the accused hurling abuse at the victims outside court.

The evident cover up by politicians, police, social workers showing no care whatsoever for the raped and tortured girls can only exacerbate this feeling of anger and fear.

Well done politicians.

Alexandra2001 · 05/01/2025 10:24

Zero evidence Brown issued a blanket ban on prosecutions, in fact the contrary, as prosecutions of men of Pakistani origin continued.

How would a front line detective know?

This is nothing more than hearsay.... totally different if those saying this were former serving Govt ministers or leading civil servants etc.

& no it isn't defending Labour at all costs, its about fairness and evidence of wrong doing of which there is none at all.

Just like the slurs made against Starmer over a field or Jimmy Saville & that applies equally to Thatcher too, unsubstantiated attacks.

@Babadookinthewardrobe again, 100s of men prosecuted and still going through the courts.

Atissues · 05/01/2025 10:27

@Cloclo15 Thank you for sharing. Heartbreaking. And the authorities knew.
