Gov refuses home office investigation into historic child sex abuse in Oldham

I've just read on x that Jess Phillips has formally declined Oldham council's request for the HO to investigate the grooming gangs in Oldham. Why on Earth would they do this? Apparently JP says it should be a local investigation? Clearly that is a conflict of interests and if the council are asking for help they should?

I held my view when Elon was still in nappies. We didnt need him to say what he thought,we already knew the truth. What he does bring though is discomfort to those who do not want to face facts ..bit like you @stonejam and on this issue the facts are clear. Abused victims being dumped and left to try to salvage their lives because very few have the balls to value them as real people.

I don’t doubt his motives are trouble making, but the silence and total lack of action from all politicians has allowed him and the right wing to occupy this space, and all decent people are disgusted by this, even more so since the appalling details have been shared.

stonejam.. I am the far right as you see it. I believe,my opinion only,that we have thousands of young girls and teenagers who were abused in an organized way. We have facts,testamonials,documented evidence, medical evidence,police evidence. We have the victims truth and the truth of their families.,of care agencies. Before you dismiss these victims I would suggest you do your research. You do not need to be far right to inform yourself of the horror and trauma these children have endured over many years. These children who were shut up because those in authority did not want to/would not upset the communities who did this. If any of this is a right way to protect innocent children in your eyes by burying it and letting these children try to rebulid there shattered lives then something is very wrong .

This is an understatement on a par with "I'm just going outside and may be some time". Being burgled is a "distressing event". Being raped so violently that you are left with permanent injuries, as a child, and then gaslit and disbelieved by those tasked with helping you, isn't "distressing". It's catastrophic.

The NUMBER ONE PRIORITY for ANY Government is the protection of its citizens. Political philosophers from Demosthenes to Lord Denning via Sun Tzu and Machiavelli all agree on this. I don't care if the people jumping do so from the left, the right, up, down or anywhere in between. This is a feminist issue and a child protection issue. It needs to be talked about more openly and in greater detail than has thus far been permitted by bien pensant society. I'm glad. I want to keep talking about it.

You know it's relatively rare for the Authoritarian Left to display their innate callousness and contempt for the vulnerable so openly...but it's always most instructive when they do.

Honestly, the outrage here is what we need to tackle the systematic abuse of women and girls but Nige and Elon only seem to care when it's brown men doing it. What happened with these gangs raping and torturing children is absolutely disgusting and I agree that some of it was covered up due to cultural sensitivities, which is an utter disgrace. Justice needs to happen for the victims and an overhaul of the system needs to happen. They need to implement the findings of the 2022 review.

Don't be fooled though, Nigel and co do not have women's best interests at heart, they couldn't give a flying fuck about domestic violence, rape, abuse of women.

Easy solution! Encourage the mainstream press and mainstream political parties to cover this issue and take real action!
