Anyone else hate the expectation to shave down there?

Is anyone else fed up of the expectation/strong preference for going completely shave pubic hair? I’m female and have only had male partners, but prepared to believe women have this expectation too if others have experienced it. I mean each to their own, but personally I find it feels child-like. Has anyone managed to find a compromise with their partner on this?

Never felt any pressure. I'm 40 and have had the same partner since 18

Cherrypickled · 29/12/2024 21:45

Have never felt any pressure, My body, my choice.

FknOmniShambles · 29/12/2024 21:45

Definitely not U. I've had sexual partners who bordered on disgust at seeing I had hair down there - madness!
Luckily, DH and I literally have no preference how each other maintains their public hair.

Jennyathemall · 29/12/2024 21:46

No the opposite. Only this very evening my DH asked me not to shave for once and grow it out a bit to “mix it up” I said no way!

pictoosh · 29/12/2024 21:47

No because I don't do it. Love me love my bush.

Ablondiebutagoody · 29/12/2024 21:47

I don't think that you are either reasonable or unreasonable. You like what you like and so does your partner. I like my partner to heavily trim at the very least. Actually prefer a complete bic job. The compromise is that oral sex is much nicer. Everyone's a winner. I did once mention that his armpit hair looked like Gandalf's beard but never have to mention the pubes. We both just deal with our own, like an unspoken rule.

StormingNorman · 29/12/2024 21:47

I dislike pubic hair. Never had a partner express a preference.

GreenWasper · 29/12/2024 21:49

When I was younger and single I did feel pressure, although whether that was in my own head I dunno.
My DH said early on he didn't give a monkeys and why was I bothering if I hated doing it?
If I was ever single again i would definitely have the 'my hair, my choice mindset'. I kinda feel like if a bit of natural body hair is gonna put them off, are they actually that attracted to you?

graceinspace999 · 29/12/2024 21:49

Not interested in those who aren’t interested in natural women. Hair is beautiful.

Moonwalkies · 29/12/2024 21:49

Never had a partner who has mentioned it to be honest. I personally often like to keep it neat and tidy down there- trimmed but not bald but it's been all sorts over the years and no one has minded. I'd suggest as long as you're hygienic most men wouldn't give a fuck?

gamerchick · 29/12/2024 21:49

I've never felt the expectation of it. It would be tough shit if they did.

It's your muff, platt it if you want. Most men are just happy to get access to it.

YesExactlyYes · 29/12/2024 21:51

People can 'expect' what they like - you don't have to take any notice. Why perpetuate the 'expectation' by joining in? Same goes for armpits.

nonbinaryfinery · 29/12/2024 21:51

Pubic hair exists for a reason. Removing it means you're more prone to infections and other nasties.

I don't date anymore, but when I was, I trimmed a bit, but wouldn't ever shave it off. It's supposed to be there.

Cheepcheepcheep · 29/12/2024 21:51

Gosh this is a bit of a retro conversation!

Personally - sometimes trimmed, sometimes not. Only request from DH is for not an entirely bald number as he doesn’t like it.

NeverEverOhNo · 29/12/2024 21:51

What do most people do with their pubic hair? I'm in my 40s and feel like people don't share much. So I'm not sure if what I do is normal!

FuckItItsFine · 29/12/2024 21:52

I have an absolute shitload of pubes so I have to trim a bit just for my own hygiene reasons 😬 But wouldn’t shave.

tellmesomethingtrue · 29/12/2024 21:53

I'd have a tidy up and keep it short for hygiene reasons. Removing pubic hair is like being a child though, so not for me.

Doggymummar · 29/12/2024 21:53

Never felt any pressure, married three times and plenty of partners I don't think it's ever been mentioned

Katemax82 · 29/12/2024 21:53

I used to always shave, however I got BV a few years ago and my husband being a total twat made me go to a gu clinic so I now refuse to shave

Whatever is normal for you. Does it matter what other people do? I couldn't care less.

Merryoldgoat · 29/12/2024 21:54

Never had anything other than a full bush and never had any pressure for anything else.

pinkstripeycat · 29/12/2024 21:55

I get rid of as much as I want and always have done. Small triangle. Had a conversation with DH once and he said complete removal would be gross as he’d imagine it to be too child like. He’d never dated anyone who got rid of the lot.

We are in our early 50s and I’m not sure it was ever a thing for anyone if our ages growing up to get rid of the lot. It does make me think men who like the lot removing are creepy as I think it’s child like aswell

Honestly never had a partner with a preference for me to “completely shave pubic hair”. Ditch them and move on.

I did it once in late teens and felt exactly that. I didn’t like it at all!
