I was in a job a few years ago and there was an issue with the heating. It gets really hot in the office, 26 degrees in winter which is really drying and I was going home with head aches. Raised this with managers who didn't do anything and than health and safety guy. I should be this ill from working in an office.

He said he would follow it up and agreed it was hot. The operations manager contacted the office manager to see how the temp was in the office - to which it was said I was wearing a coat (there are two people with the same name in the office but she shortens her name). The director of HR was CC and anyway I got a job with a £5k pay increase a few weeks later as it got way out of hand.

Anyway I was surfing Facebook and the office manager has made a comment about it on her facebook and tagged my manager and the person who sits next to me. The comment was brief along the lines of "what do I have to deal with".

Aibu in thinking that's not right?

Edit - when it was pointed out it was the wrong person the office person mentioned than no apology was given.

26 is too hot for that office, the humidity was also very low. Most people had fans on their face to try and cool down. We couldn't work from home.

It depends what the comment said I suppose. "What do I have to deal with" could refer to a lot of things.

fuzzychic · 27/12/2024 18:53

Eh?

But you've got a promotion? I'm very confused here

Person who sits next to me mentioned "I need a day of work to catch up".

Another job in another organisation

Very inappropriate for someone to comment on work stuff on Facebook like that.

Caravaggiouch · 27/12/2024 18:55

This was a few years ago and you no longer work there? Who gives a shit!

She's got lots of work people on social media including directors

Clearly I give a shit because it's my life. Just because you think you wouldn't care about it, it has clearly got some significance for me.

You don’t work there anymore? Stop giving it any more room in your head. It’s not healthy. Let it be

biscuitsandbooks · 27/12/2024 18:56

It was three years ago? You need to just let it drop.

But why?

ByOliveWriter · 27/12/2024 18:58

Actually it does matter because I considered those people my friends as well.

Plus this is really weird how people are gate keeping.

Your post is pretty hard to understand

Did they make the comment recently, or back when it happened? Is it clear it is about you? An office manager deals with this kind of stuff continuously

blueshoes · 27/12/2024 18:59

I am not entirely sure I understand your post.

"it was said" - who said?
Are you saying the person who was wearing a coat was not you, just someone with a shortened name that is the same as yours?
Was the office manager/operations manager confused which member of staff made the complaint about the temperature? Why would they? Is this a big company?
CC - what does that mean? Why is the director of HR relevant here?
You are no longer at the company, does it really matter?
What exactly did the office manager's facebook say that she has to deal with?

steff13 · 27/12/2024 18:59

I'm confused about what happened. This was a few years ago and the manager just now posted about it on Facebook? Did they tag you in the post?

Well that's what I was thinking and I find it weird she would do it considering her profile is public and she's got heaps of work people on Facebook

No on the day she posted it and tagged my manager and mutual work friend (who I sit next to)

Lifestooshort71 · 27/12/2024 18:59

As you no longer work there, I can't see that getting upset is going to get you anywhere. What do you expect from putting it on MN?

chocolatespreadsandwich · 27/12/2024 19:00

If you were too warm and someone else was wearing a coat then possibly the temperature was about right? They can't make it perfect for everyone

chocolatespreadsandwich · 27/12/2024 19:00

So you trawled back over several years worth of posts?

She tagged someone that you sit next to at your new job at your new organization? And what was the day she posted was it several years ago or was it like 2 days ago?

YellowPixie · 27/12/2024 19:01

Why are you facebook stalking your previous manager and scrolling back through several years of posts to even see this?
