Christmas cancelled

Feeling very sorry for myself! Had family coming over today for Christmas, I've spent ages preparing food, games, the usual - they've cancelled last minute as they're ill.

It can't be helped and I'm not upset with the family at all, just really disappointed to be spending Christmas alone 😔

That is very inconsiderate of them and I’m sorry for you. How can you not realise you’re ill until literally Christmas morning? And how can everyone be struck down by the same thing at the same time at once on Christmas morning? Just doesn’t add up. Sounds like they want to spend the day in bed vegging around.

Christ, I doubt they’re carrying the plague. It’s very cheeky though.

OP what was the conversation regarding them still eating your food?

Was it them who said they can’t come but they’ll still collect the food and you were a bit blindsided to say no?

Or was it you offering them to take the food, so it doesn’t go to waste?

Are they all genuinely ill? All happened in the last 24 hours? Headachy and ill, what all 6 of them? Sounds very odd and fishy to me.
No ways should you be cooking to feed 6 people and then sitting alone at home. I would tell them that suddenly just like them you too are feeling ill and you can arrange when everyone is well again.

Me too. But OP didn't seem to think the food collection thing was unreasonable, which makes me wonder if there is a pattern of poor treatment from these people and she's conditioned to it.
