Child Safeguarding Win, Puberty Blockers have been indefinitely banned across the ENTIRE of the UK (for off label use, precocious puberty use remains)

A great day for child safeguarding, this is evidence, reason and medical expertise over pressure groups.

A terrible shame for those children that this is too late for, who have been permanently harmed by ideologues and will never be able to have their body back the way it should have grown.

Existing emergency measures in UK outlawing sale and supply to be made indefinite following official advice from medical experts"

Brilliant news, bodily harm to autistic and gay young people who were being told by adults that they were born wrong was about as anti- safeguarding as you get.

Well done Wes Streeting.

MrBungle · 11/12/2024 14:24

Wes Streeting is the next PM at this rate

Good.

I wasn’t a fan of Wes Streeting pre election really stepped up and shown that he gets the concerns regarding safe guarding of women and children and he’s made swift moves.

Absolutely the correct decision

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/12/2024 14:49

Great news.

YellowAsteroid · 11/12/2024 15:02

This is very good news - it protects young children, who cannot really give properly informed consent about taking a medication that will retard growth, potentially make them sexually dysfunctional and anorgasmic, potentially make them sterile, and which has never been properly tested for this use.

If you go back to a very early episode of Gender: A Wider Lens podcast, Stella O'Malley & Sasha Ayad interview the Dutch medicos who institute the "Dutch protocol." It's pretty shocking, that they dismiss the children who died or whose symptoms of unease and depression did not diminish. They focused only on the "successful" patients.

And if their protocol had had to go through an ethics application at my university, it would have been chucked out, absolutely at the first review.

TheKeatingFive · 11/12/2024 15:20

Great news. Streeting has been brilliant on this issue.

kelsaycobbles · 11/12/2024 15:29

Fantastic early Christmas

Now we need to support childen so they don't think that's the answer

Very much.

allowing the narrative to be “if you feel uncomfortable in yourself you need drugs and surgery” is unforgivable

we must change it

Hard to believe anyone, especially a woman, could complain about this.

I'm just not sure what this ban is going to do in reality

Well, if it stops schools like mine from teaching kids that they can just take some drugs to fix their inappropriate bodies - well, that would be a really good start.

CrocsNotDocs · 12/12/2024 02:02

Well done Wes Streeting. A shining light in an otherwise dire government. The man doesn’t seem to be for turning- I would love to know what caused his Road to Damascus conversion.

"Clinicians" running cowboy clinics out of Spain whilst suspended for malpractice in the UK, or who advertise to vulnerable teenagers on Tiktok that they will cut your breasts off from age 13 for $12000, don't count.

Mog65 · 12/12/2024 06:51

Are there any parents of trans kids on mn. It's like a witch hunt.

Hundreds of parents of gender questioning children yes

the witch hunt is for the monsters who tried to tell us children needed body parts cut off and life altering drugs

Yes, there are loads. You will find nothing but sympathy on Mumsnet for children suffering from gender distress and their parents who just want them to be safe and happy.

For anyone not aware of the kind of monsters we are talking about.

There's a video somewhere on that page which is just captioned something like, "How I feel when people tell me I can't do my surgeries for ethical reasons" and then she does a bunch of different crying, laughing and sneering faces.
