To think this attack on London Jewish schoolchildren should have been headline news

I have been waiting for this story to go mainstream, and I’m shocked that it hasn’t.

So far, it seems only the Daily Mail has reported on it - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14142235/amp/Jewish-children-terrified-thugs-London-bus-rocks-Israel.html.

When are we going to start taking the threats against Jews in the UK seriously and actually do something about it?

Thugs throw rocks at bus with Jewish children and yell 'f*** Israel'

Students at JFS in Kenton, north London, were travelling on buses operated by Uno, when the vehicles were set upon by a group of teenage thugs at a bus stop in Edgware, on Wednesday.

The children in the bus are in no way responsible for the actions of a foreign government - you are engaging in false equivalence and anti-semitism

Fuck me, that’s your take on this? Kids who’ve likely been nowhere near Palestine and have no part in the horrific events going on there are attacked as they leave school, purely because of their religion and your response is ‘I’m sure they’ll get over it’. What’s wrong with you?

ThatShyRoseViper · 04/12/2024 08:13

What a depressing first response. A demonstration of exactly why this sort of thing is happening to children who have nothing whatsoever to do with the situation in the Middle East.

I can only hope the under-reporting is a conscious decision to avoid copycats/escalation.

Because attack children is a sure way to make sure they don't grow up up believing they are hated and lead to radicalisation.

All children deserve to be able to attend school safely.

Since when is bigotry ok? That’s innocent kids you’re talking about

I think the first response should not be deleted so people can see and remember the poster is a vile twat. For future references. Edit to add, and the one just above me

And what do these school children in the UK have to do with what’s happening in Palestine?

What is your reason for making this comment?

Frowningprovidence · 04/12/2024 08:20

I think, very sadly, it could encourage copy-cat attacks if its discussed widely.

Moonlightstars · 04/12/2024 08:20

Disgusting. Hate breeds hate. That is why we are in this awful situation.
The poor children in Gaza will not get a better situation because so bigot in the UK scares children.

I agree or stir things up even more.

TheKeatingFive · 04/12/2024 08:21

You're absolutely right OP. Anti semitism is rife, already exemplified by this thread. What have we become?

XWKD · 04/12/2024 08:23

The children on the bus are no more responsible for any of this than the children of Gaza, in the same way that children in Dresden, London, or Hiroshima weren't responsible for the attacks on them.

Wow. I didn't know about this. How terrifying for the children.

I wonder if the reporting is subdued because of a fear of copy cat attacks?

SaltLampFeelsDamp · 04/12/2024 08:24

It’s grotesque that attacks like this are covered up by the media. You can bet it there had been a similar incidence at a Muslim school the Prime Minister would have spoken, Sadiq Khan would have spoken, and the press would have made it headline news for weeks.

This is deflection. What about the children the OP is talking about. Are you saying that attacking them is justified?

Pottedpalm · 04/12/2024 08:25

It seems antisemitism is acceptable. Would there be more of an outcry of the bus was full of Muslim children? I believe there would.

@Glitterybee , what an horrific response. You think these children aren’t worthy of your compassion because they are Jewish? That is filthy antisemitism.

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/12/2024 08:26

You're right OP, it's despicable behaviour and I hope the teens responsible are caught and punished.

Regardless what anyone's thoughts are about Palestine and Israel it is not the fault of a group of school kids just trying to get home at the end of the day. This was a hate attack. There is no argument for righteous justice or anything else that anyone may be able to dream up, the kids on that bus have nothing whatsoever to do with the conflict and intimidating and threatening them will have no possible impact on what is happening in Palestine.
