I think we definitely slipped into too many after tonight.

The delivery driver asked me if I'm ok/if everything is ok , because he hasn't seen me in a long time.

Ooops. Grin

It depends, I had a big obsession with greggs sausage baguette and a sausage roll recently

About a month ago I had too many to count but I had covid and also fell and hurt my back so it was a case of just getting everyone fed

thenightsky · 29/11/2024 18:54

I'd eat more if I could. I'd be the size of a house if I lived in a delivery area. Bloody love curries, chinese, fish and chips, pizza, the lot.

However, I live rurally and its at least a 1 hour round trip to pick it up. And even then its a choice of Indian or Chinese or nothing.

So its birthdays and bank holidays only. And only then if there's someone not drinking to go pick it up.

ohtowinthelottery · 29/11/2024 18:55

We get a takeaway about once a year - usually an Indian and even then we have to be desperate!

I find the food usually disappoints and is ridiculously expensive. There's always something in the house to rustle up a quick tea from scratch so we're never that desperate and certainly don't see it as a treat.

FionaSkates · 29/11/2024 18:57

Same once a year. Last year it was a burger and this year it was a Chinese.

TheThreeCheesesOfTheApocalypse44 · 29/11/2024 18:57

I get a Christmas card from our favourite Chinese, what's worse is we don't even get it with an order. Its posted and they use our names 😳

They also put freebies in thinking it was someone's birthday. It wasn't anybodys birthday......we're just fat greedy bastards who hadn't had a takeaway in ages so ordered half the menu. I was snacking on butter battered chicken and wontons for days after. 🤣🤣🤣

Years ago, when we had 3 DCs under 5 and a 12 yr old with ASD, the local kebab shop gave us a bottle of wine for Christmas Blush - my brother was very impressedGrin. Bit of a wake up call for us……

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 29/11/2024 18:59

On average about once a month. It varies between Indian, Chinese, Thai, Fish & chips or really good sourdough pizza.

I can't imagine a takeaway full English - surely the eggs are hard and the bacon soggy?

No, it's from a local Hotel and the toast is always still hot when it arrives apparently, I don't eat them it's OH

BobbyBiscuits · 29/11/2024 19:04

I never ever seem to get the same delivery man. I'd get quite excited if we remembered eachother! Very occasionally I order deliveroo about four times in a week, if I'm very unwell and have money. Usually that would be a couple of grocery deliveries and couple takeaways. I always make the food last two meals to try and justify it!
Normal would be once a month max though.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 29/11/2024 19:04

Misfitkickedoutonthestreet · 29/11/2024 18:33

Wow those of you who order them regularly, do you not mind spending that much money on food that's usually kind of average? I have ordered a curry tonight for 3 of us and it was £54 - I certainly can't afford to do that more than once every few months.
Also they give me heartburn and I always feel grim the next day. I'm only doing it as dc loves it!

Ours doesn't cost nearly this much.

Honestly I love cooking, and would use them less if it wasn't for convenience. I'm in a time of life where I'm a single parent, caring for a terminally ill DM, working full time in a stressful senior role, and to me it's worth it even if I could whip something better up myself.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 29/11/2024 19:04

We usually have one a week. Sometimes we go out for dinner, maybe twice a month. I do the majority of the cooking at home and I get fed up with it, do we break it up with take away/restaurant meal.

ImTheOnlyUpsyOne · 29/11/2024 19:05

We used to have a Friday takeaway as a habbit...then I noticed on sat/sun my kids could wrangle DH into getting mcdonalds.....then if we went out and about there might be a meal out or junk food at soft play etc. So I've said no takeaways now. Too expensive and unhealthy....but that way when we do eat it it's not one of many....I'm queen of the fakeaway now....the delivery drivers weren't friendly with us...but the kid next door commented on all our deliveries so I think that counts lol

But Friday used to feel like a night off cooking for me (no1 else does it) so even though it's healthier for me and everyone, I do still feel a bit like I've cut off my nose to spite my face

allthatfalafel · 29/11/2024 19:06

One time my partner asked me what I wanted and then said "you don't normally order that." Which was fine until he rang in the order and the guy at the other end said "you don't normally order that!"

Also one time we were at a friends' and ordered takeaway for delivery. Opened the door and the guy said to me, "Did you move house?" 😂

26YearOldFailure · 29/11/2024 19:06

Probably once a month if that. I used to get a chinese at least twice or three times a month but I've gone off it now. It seems so heavy and greasy, I end up feeling like shit after

Let me guess, you're poor and bitter.

OchAyeTheN00 · 29/11/2024 19:07

Wow. Rarely. Once every 6 months maybe? And usually because family are staying and it’s their preference (they live in another country and miss fish and chips, Chinese etc)

Justcallmebebes · 29/11/2024 19:08

I've never had one delivered and probably had one about a year ago. Take aways are overpriced junk food which I appreciate makes me sound sanctimonious, but it's the truth.

OK for a very occasional treat, but not acceptable on a regular basis

My partner had that when he ordered for at his sister's house

CheshireCats · 29/11/2024 19:09

I've had maybe 4 all year!!

TypingoftheDead · 29/11/2024 19:09

Me and mum have takeaway Mondays and Fridays. There were two occasions in the past year where a second takeaway turned up later on that we definitely didn’t order 😳
