I think we definitely slipped into too many after tonight.

The delivery driver asked me if I'm ok/if everything is ok , because he hasn't seen me in a long time.

Ooops. Grin

They are rare in this house. Always find them disappointing plus I like cooking.

Wow those of you who order them regularly, do you not mind spending that much money on food that's usually kind of average?

We order them regularly because we like them, and can afford them. We wouldn't enjoy them if they were average...

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 29/11/2024 18:40

We have 1 or 2 a month max. It just doesn't really occur to me to have one more often than that.

RedVelvetIcing · 29/11/2024 18:40

We used to have Chinese 1-2x a week but now we’ve moved away from them and none of as good 😭 Now we never really have a takeaway at all as the ones we’ve tried have been disappointing.

LadyMargaretPoledancer · 29/11/2024 18:41

Friday night is takeaway night.

Just finished a Chinese 😋

CleanShirt · 29/11/2024 18:41

The limit does not exist.

What a catty remark. There are definitely worse things to be than fat!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 29/11/2024 18:43

Also we only ever have Indian or Chinese as they are the ones we have nearby which would be difficult or not as good to make yourself or buy from the supermarket. I wouldn't ever bother getting Dominos or McDonald's as they don't feel like a treat compared with homemade food.

Merrymess · 29/11/2024 18:43

When DS still lived at home the local Domino's rang him to see if he had made a mistake because he had changed his order.

Exactly! I like the food.

Orangelight23 · 29/11/2024 18:46

Maybe 2 a month? We would normally get one today actually as it's payday Friday. We spent so much on Christmas presents today though that I decided on a takeaway. I've made beef koftas and flat breads so going to have our own kebabs.

Not sure we've got there yet. Dp just ordering the third one this week, 2 McDonald's and a kebab. It will be Indian tomorrow and full English Sunday morning

I can't imagine a takeaway full English - surely the eggs are hard and the bacon soggy?

Gowlett · 29/11/2024 18:47

Rarely get take-away. Usually as a birthday treat.
More likely to go to a cafe, or get lunch in the city.

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 29/11/2024 18:47

No one delivers where we live, but I often wonder how many we would have if they did… We do like a city break when we can get a delivery - much excitement! So we do eat pretty well really. We have a delivery of Stocked that do frozen curries etc, had one of those tonight, and m and s Chinese box once a year or so :)

Cheersmedears123 · 29/11/2024 18:47

We probably have 2 a month and I feel like that’s my limit. However we can’t get takeaways delivered where we live so that puts a lid on it. I’m heading out in a minute to collect a curry :)

TheSomething · 29/11/2024 18:47

Some of these comments have made me laugh.

Sometimes we get one a week, sometimes we can go a few weeks with none, or one week we might get one twice! As the only cook and meal planner in the house sometimes it just happens.

We're lucky I think that our household it doesn't cost us too much and we have lots of tasty affordable takeaways to choose from. Two adults and one kid, but one of our adults is a fussy eater so their order is usually cheap, and the kid eats like a sparrow so doesn't cost me much either. We got chippy last night for us all for £10.

I think if you can afford it and it's not damaging your health it's fine.

TitaniasAss · 29/11/2024 18:48

Probably about twice a year. Would LOVE to have more but they always seem to be about £60 ish for the four of us so we couldn't afford it every week. Having said that, if we cut back on nice bottles of wine we probably could! 😊

CissOff · 29/11/2024 18:48

We have a takeaway once a fortnight or so, only Indian or Chinese as they are the best near me.

In my early twenties I was definitely on first name terms with my local Indian - they’d always know my order and try and convince me to try new dishes (no chance)

That's brilliant! I've been in habit of having them often since being on my own but I have to say that I have had done this month and only a couple last month.

AmICrazyToEvenBother · 29/11/2024 18:49

People can spend their disposable income on whatever they like.

I'd definitely be fat on multiple per week though and provably not getting enough vegetables either!

MyDeftDuck · 29/11/2024 18:52

I have never had a takeaway delivered - if we want fish and chips we collect them ourselves.

Has yours not gone up by loads? Even mcdonalds now about 50 pounds for 4 with fees and a tip. Let alone an Indian, Chinese or Franco Manco 'posh' pizza!
