This show has been on for 34 years. Germany was two countries when it was dreamt up.

The BBC have form for flogging shows well past their sell by date, this is one that should go.

I love Greg!

So does Gregg......

I had the (dis)pleasure of meeting GW at an event about 6 or 7 years ago. He was vile and shouted at me, I told him not to Fing speak to me like that.
Horrible man

Good for you! Bet that surprised him, probably not used to being stood up to.

Eraserbread · 28/11/2024 14:47

Eekomouse · 28/11/2024 14:34

It was a fish dish, and it was the smell he was referring to, iirc. 😨

I think Greg(g)/Greg(g)’s mum might be on this thread.

Ohm that's even worse! Vile man.

Abitofalark · 28/11/2024 14:48

This all goes back to when the BBC decided to ditch the original Masterchef and presenter Loyd Grossman, renaming it with the cringeworthy macho title 'Masterchef Goes Large' - it couldn't be more obvious that they wanted to make it more laddish, hence this duo of presenters whom they've clung onto for far too many years - it tells you a lot about the BBC and its values.

No woman has had a chance to be one of the two presenters in all that time (I know there's Monica on the Professionals spin off, who incidentally worked for the presenter Michel Roux Junior in his restaurant and eventually set up her own restaurant, presumably with the earnings from the BBC), while the greengrocer has been living it up and getting rich and celebrated, as has Torode, as well as finding a new wife among the contestants, the husband and wife then profiting by having their own cookery programme as well. All so cosy isn't it?

Tdcp · 28/11/2024 14:51

My uncle was in one of the factories he visited and said Gregg was insufferable and a bit of a creep.

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/11/2024 14:56

If it’s historical and there are several people involved, why is Kirsty Wark the only one being mentioned? Is she the only one allowing or wanting her name to be used?

I think it’s probably the end for Masterchef in all its iterations. It was so much better in its original format. It’s very formulaic now and I’d like Marcus Wareing to wash and cut his hair.

lightsandtunnels · 28/11/2024 14:57

I was reading today about Lisa (John T's wife) who has been talking about his inappropriate sexual jokes when she was on Masterchef. So seems it's been going on for a while now!
I vote for Matthew Wryle the chef taking his place and I also love Clodagh McKenna; she is so easy to watch and really funny too. Matthew was on as a guest judge/chef last series I think. He was fabulous, charming and knowledgeable. Perhaps some new fresh faces are what the show needs including a woman!

InconsideratelyThoughtful · 28/11/2024 14:58

What sort of man would even think of his aunt's genitalia.

OnTheBounce · 28/11/2024 14:59

Is this a totally different set of allegations to the ones that nixed Gregg's roll role Inside the Factory? And why wasn't there a discreet investigation into any unsavoury behaviour on Masterchef back then?

Hoppinggreen · 28/11/2024 15:01

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 28/11/2024 14:42

He did look pretty stunned and there was an audible gasp from his minions.
He was behaving like a dick before he shouted at me, he was turning the amiable cheeky chappy persona on and off like a light switch and I thought he seemed pretty unpleasant before he shouted at me.
I wasn't even interacting with him, I have no idea why he decided to have a go at me

JesusWasaLady · 28/11/2024 15:03

His son has autism. It is likely he is also somewhere on the spectrum with some of the more unusual things he says. I'm surprised though, that this was not nipped in the bud a very long time ago.

me too, seems very odd that Kirsty Wark, who surely has a fair bit of clout on the BBC, is on the BBC website today talking about him being inappropriate in 2011.

Christ on a bike.
I have autism and autism does not make people hate you nor is it an excuse to be an arrogant wanker like Wallace.

I'm afraid it does. Normies react quite strongly to a lot of autistic people. It's really depressing. (I'm autistic btw).

I have autism, as my DD and cousin. None of us are sexually inappropriate, let alone at a place of work. I understand the difficulties in understand boundaries and social cues however, Autism is not an excuse to be a creep.

aesoplover · 28/11/2024 15:08

Was it not Lisa Faulkner (John Torode's wife) who made one of the allegations about GW's sexual comments? (Sorry if this has already been mentioned I've not RTFT)

How he got four women to marry him I'll never know.

You're right of course. There's that brilliant saying "when you meet one person with Autism, you've met ONE person with Autism". ND manifests itself differently in different people.

Eraserbread · 28/11/2024 15:12

Yes, autistic people aren't more likely to make inappropriate sexual comments or behave like misogynistic dicks, are they?

One of the Sunday papers (I think it’s a Sunday) had him in their column ‘a day in the life of’….hardly seems to spend any time with his son!

AInightingale · 28/11/2024 15:17

I knew absolutely nothing about Gregg Wallace before today, but reading this thread, I instantly recognise the sort of man. Most of us of a certain vintage will have endured the boss/work colleague like this. Dirty jokes and creepy comments women felt powerless to challenge, all dismissed as 'banter'. Well, they aren't getting away with it anymore, and that's got to be progress.

rockingbird · 28/11/2024 15:19

I ad the pleasure of meeting him and his PA once .. 🫤 she was as awful as him and I could see how they worked well together. I actually can't watch him on tv now.

Normies? Really?
Gregg Wallace is a knob, he is a knob if he's autistic or a "Normie"

Oh god, the endless quarter finals. I said to Dh (who LOVES the show) that must now be more Masterchef quarterfinalists walking this earth than there are rats in London.

Good riddance to him. Let's hope the show dies a death. Terrible show.

I think we could all put it on our CVs and no one would ever be able to verify otherwise.

Do you think he minds the missing g when people are fawning over him?
