The bullying described here and the sheer idiocy of insisting by that biological males must be supported in breastfeeding is insane.

AIBU to say they have lost the plot and need to be investigated?

YABU - man milk is as good if not better than women's milk according to activists
"On Monday night, the BBC chose to discuss the man-milk affair with a young woman called Kate Luxion, an unqualified ‘trainee lactation consultant’ and a researcher at UCL. With a composed and serious expression, Luxion insisted that not only was man milk safe, but ‘studies’ had actually found that a trans woman’s milk contained more nutrients than the milk of a baby’s mother. The presenter nodded happily along. Nod, nod, smile, smile. Yep, sounded right to her."

"In a damning resignation letter from the board of directors, the 94-year-old condemned the group’s shift from focusing on mothering to ‘indulging the fantasies of adults’.
She wrote in a letter to senior figures at La Leche League (LLL): ‘From an organisation with the specific mission of supporting biological women who want to give their babies the best start in life by breastfeeding themem*_, LLL’s focus has subtly shifted to include men who, for whatever reason, want to have the experience of breastfeeding, despite no careful long-term research on male lactation and how that may affect the baby.
‘This shift from following the norms of nature, which is the core of mothering through breastfeeding, to indulging the fantasies of adults, is destroying our organisation.’

This is awful. And utterly insane. You have to be blinkered beyond the point of reason to believe that the drug induced fluid from male nipples is the same (better???) than women's breast milk. Why is no one speaking up for the babies? How can they consent to consume drugs?

AgathaMystery · 17/11/2024 08:32

God. This is depressing.

Pelagi · 17/11/2024 08:45

Much as I think there is way too much emphasis on the feeling of the trans women parents here, relative to the actual safety of the babies, isn’t the right comparison whether the babies are better off with bottle milk? Because presumably once the trans woman is the parent in charge of the baby there isn’t a female parent there? Unless they are in a couple with a female parent of course. But anyway it all seems highly un-evidenced even in comparison with bottle milk, which has been used for decades and subject of much research and safety testing etc.

Does anyone have a link to a study which analyses and compares in detail the various components of breast milk, male 'milk', and formula?

If not, the bigger concern is why this hasn't been done.

Because it’s chemically induced puss.

SlopyCeiling · 17/11/2024 08:55

This is insane. Mindblowingly so.
I honestly don't even understand how this could possibly have come about. I do not this LLL is fit for purpose with this POV, no.

Because it applies to a tiny amount of people worldwide. Research costs money. The cost usually has to be justified by the potential benefit/impact.

Spending money for the small amount of biological men who want to breastfeed likely can't be justified.

In a world where 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse before the age of 50, overwhelmingly at the hands of men, women, and especially new mothers, need safe spaces.

Males, regardless of how they identify, should be in a breastfeeding peer support group, no matter how they identify.

TheaBrandt · 17/11/2024 09:04

A new sane organisation is needed for this important cause this one has lost the plot and is no longer fit for purpose.

user1467300911 · 17/11/2024 09:04

Livinginaclock · 17/11/2024 09:05

It's disgusting abuse.

MidnightPatrol · 17/11/2024 09:05

I’m a little surprised that using drugs to encourage milk production for breastfeeding is allowed in men.

Particularly given as a breast feeding mother you’re not even allowed proper pain relief after birth etc.

OneAmberFinch · 17/11/2024 09:08

It doesn't surprise me that there are creepy men who want to "breastfeed" babies. I just want to know, who are the women who are handing over their babies to these men for this purpose?!

romdowa · 17/11/2024 09:15

So they are allowing biological makes with nipple discharge to attend breastfeeding classes and everyone is just expected to pretend as if this person can actually breastfeed ? What a waste of resources and quite frankly an insult to women.

jeaux90 · 17/11/2024 09:27

Any man who wants a baby to suck on their nipples is a pervert.

CurrentHun · 17/11/2024 09:27

This is shocking. Any man (leave aside identity labels) not content to give his baby a bottle so that the baby can be safely fed, should be a massive red flag.

Fathers should not be given by the NHS, or taking, drugs to induce secretions of who know what. Nor letting babies consume that because the father wants to convince themselves that they are ‘breastfeeding’ their children.

theeyeofdoe · 17/11/2024 09:27

I think they’ve already were a danger.
the encourage women to breastfeed to the point that it damages both women’s mental health and babies physical health.
I had to get them banned from our local baby weighing centre as they’d turned two women into anxious wrecks with screaming babies.

Annabella92 · 17/11/2024 09:29

"Man-milk" 🤮🤮🤮

CurrentHun · 17/11/2024 09:35

Breastfeeding groups overstepping their boundaries with women sounds terrible. But such groups do need to exist to support women who want to breastfeed. And breastfeeding groups allowing in men is absolutely the opposite of what those groups are for. The whole organisational purpose is lost then.

However that father wishes himself to be recognised as an adult person, he isn’t ever going to become a biological woman or a mother. That’s OK. There’s nothing wrong with being a man who doesn’t conform to gender stereotypes for men. But he shouldn’t try to force his view of opposite sex characteristics or stereotypes on to everyone else. Which is exactly what is happening here. To babies. To mums seeking breastfeeding support. To breastfeeding groups.

Babies are not there to validate their parents. First rule of decent parenting. So we should not allow or provide drug induced substances coming out of a man’s chest to be given to a baby as food. Adult validation needs that are overwhelming or dangerous should be explored by those adults in therapy.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 17/11/2024 09:37

People have lost their minds. Another example of trans madness destroying everything it touches.

We need to burn it all down and start again with sane people in charge.

I will add some links for those who wish to read more on the topic. This will give some good links as well.

https://www.theparadoxinstitute.com/read/the-ugly-truth-of-male-breastfeeding

This is a review of the studies often discussed here on MN in regards to males feeding infants the secretions from their breasts. It confirms what we have been posting.

Conclusion

Given all the available data on the amount of milk produced as well as the lack of studies on the safety of these medications at such high doses, it is safe to say there is no sufficient evidence to prove transwomen can safely breastfeed an infant. Transwomen cannot produce enough to give adequate nutrition and the unknown dangers to the infant from the medications is not worth the risk.

But even further, it is concerning that it was of great importance that breastfeeding was affirming for the transwoman.

Breastfeeding is about providing nutrition and immunity benefits to the infant. It should be concerning to everyone that affirmation is addressed at all. Given the risk to the infant, the ethical question must be asked: is a transwoman nursing really about feeding the infant, or is it about feeding the dysphoria?

The Ugly Truth of Male Breastfeeding — Paradox Institute

Is a transwoman nursing really about feeding the infant, or is it about feeding the dysphoria? In this detailed piece, Talia analyzes the literature on artificially-induced male breastfeeding to see if it is safe and healthy for the infant.
