To want my money back in my acct asap

MeatPotatos · 16/11/2024 15:06

Ordered a coat from a known French store (£295)

Been receiving update emails and it was due to be delivered today

Made sure to stay home and at 2 received a notification saying it has been delivered
It has not

I was home waiting. The doorbell is working. I did not have headphones on nor went shower just in case.

Sent the store an email demanding my money back. I don’t want to be re-sent the same item and I don’t want store credit either.
I know it is not their fault but it us not mine either. I kept my end of the bargain which was to pay and stay home to open the door.

Now will have to go out and see if I find a coat somewhere as I plan to wear it tomorrow.

Where do I stand? Anyone been through similar?

Well I'm sure theyl refund it itl take a normal amount of time. They need to get the parcel back first for one thing

AlexandrinaH · 16/11/2024 15:08

Have they responded?

Mrsttcno1 · 16/11/2024 15:08

Very OTT, you can’t just demand your money back, delivery issues are common although annoying. You did your bit, the company also did their bit.

You can return the item once delivered and get your money back.

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 16/11/2024 15:08

Sorry OP but it’s not gonna happen today. You’ll have to raise it with the shop and they can take a while to resolve it with the courier. Even then they may not side with you - the Evri guy nicked my parcel but put it on the doorstep first and photographed it, I just lost my money. Did the courier take a photo of where they delivered it to ?

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 16/11/2024 15:08

This is why I only get things delivered to stores and lockers now

Overthebow · 16/11/2024 15:09

You can request your money back but you likely won’t get it today. They will have to follow procedure, and the parcel may still be delivered today anyway.

CoastalCalm · 16/11/2024 15:10

It might still appear today I’ve had instances where a delivery notification comes and a little while later it actually happens - I think it’s so they can keep to targets

How will they get it back???

Sometimes I get notifications that my package has been delivered then it turns up later/the next day. I presume they have targets that they have to hit sí they mark them as delivered before they actually deliver them. It's only been an hour since it said it has been delivered. I would give the company some time to look into what happened with the delivery company before 'demanding' anything.

Wellingtonspie · 16/11/2024 15:12

It is always annoying that they take your money same day but refunds are never issued same day always some upto 10’working days bs.

Your coat might still arrive today though.

maydaymayday1 · 16/11/2024 15:12

Yea no way are you getting your money back today. They need time to investigate. Also your coat may still be delivered.

MeatPotatos · 16/11/2024 15:13

Have they responded?

Not yet, I sent the email around 2.30pm and Sat today so maybe they will respond on Monday

TheGrinch2024 · 16/11/2024 15:13

Sorry OP but I think that’s a bit of an extreme reaction - and won’t get you anywhere. It may still turn up today and if it doesn’t, you’ll be refunded in the normal amount of time.

HildaHosmede · 16/11/2024 15:13

People who go around 'demanding' things as an initial approach are rarely reasonable ime.

Is this your first experience of home delivery op? Calm your tits and at least give them a few hours. Every chance it will still be delivered.

It has been delivered as per the carrier update email - but not to me and not to my house

You won't get the money back today. If you're going to shop online you need to accept the timescales involved when it comes to processing refunds

That's fine. They'll refund you.

Fireworknight · 16/11/2024 15:14

Before they can refund, they’d need to do due diligence that it hasn’t been delivered. You could just be fabricating this to get the refund, and effectively a free coat.

MeatPotatos · 16/11/2024 15:14

This has happened to me numerous times, especially with Evri and DPD.

It then updates later on to say not delivered and it arrives the next day.

UpUpUpU · 16/11/2024 15:15

Have you checked outside? Lots of my deliveries just get put behind the bins without even trying the door first.

Check the notification too to see if it says it’s been left with a neighbour or there is a picture of it being delivered.

You also need to stop being huffy with the company, it’s not their fault

MidnightMeltdown · 16/11/2024 15:16

YABU. The courier will need to do an investigation to find out what happened to the parcel before they refund.

Pandasnacks · 16/11/2024 15:16

I don't no how theyl get it back, but they're obviously not going to give you your money back asap without looking into where it's gone. It's likely to take 3-5 working days minimum. Did the courier not post a picture of where they delivered it to?

MeatPotatos · 16/11/2024 15:16

Yes I know will not be today, probably they will refund in one week or two but the point is - I don’t want the item sent again and I don’t want store credit - can I have the actual money back in this circunstance? I will need the money back at some point to cover the purchase I will do today - hopefully.

OP posts:
Timeforabiscuit · 16/11/2024 15:17

You need to follow the complaints process - do you know which courier they used? Some are better than others, but can't see any reason to panic as yet.

Are you anxious as it's a big purchase?

The evidence is the email from the carrier that it has been delivered - I sent them a screenshot
