To want my money back in my acct asap

Ordered a coat from a known French store (£295)

Been receiving update emails and it was due to be delivered today

Made sure to stay home and at 2 received a notification saying it has been delivered
It has not

I was home waiting. The doorbell is working. I did not have headphones on nor went shower just in case.

Sent the store an email demanding my money back. I don’t want to be re-sent the same item and I don’t want store credit either.
I know it is not their fault but it us not mine either. I kept my end of the bargain which was to pay and stay home to open the door.

Now will have to go out and see if I find a coat somewhere as I plan to wear it tomorrow.

Where do I stand? Anyone been through similar?

Do you have a local spotted group . Our local one of locates or reunites people with their parcels . Not perfect but gets you your coat hopefully

maydaymayday1 · 16/11/2024 15:12

Yea no way are you getting your money back today. They need time to investigate. Also your coat may still be delivered.

Check around your house in case it is behind a bin etc or a card has been put through and delivered to a Neighbour

MassiveOvaryaction · 16/11/2024 19:40

@MeatPotatos click the "proof of delivery" and it'll open up the photo and also

teddyclown · 16/11/2024 19:41

Further down on the page, below the photo (possibly not immediately below) there should be a map with delivery coordinates. The title will be 'map of delivery location'

MassiveOvaryaction · 16/11/2024 19:42

Bugger. Show GPS coordinates "this is a scanned location of your delivery".

Put the coordinates in Google Maps/your map software of choice and voila, that's where your parcel is.

You shouldn't have to track it down like that obvs, but if you want it for tomorrow you might need to.

HollyKnight · 16/11/2024 19:58

They might have given you the wrong tracking number. I haven't ordered from that particular retailer before but I have from another who delivered my parcel to a house not even in the same country. When you look at the route taken, does the mail centre and local delivery office make sense for your area?

Love51 · 16/11/2024 20:10

UpUpUpU · 16/11/2024 15:15

Have you checked outside? Lots of my deliveries just get put behind the bins without even trying the door first.

Check the notification too to see if it says it’s been left with a neighbour or there is a picture of it being delivered.

You also need to stop being huffy with the company, it’s not their fault

Edited

Of course it is. They could choose a more reputable firm to give the contract to.

I'd have thought Royal Mail would be considered reputable. Particularly for an overseas company.

GermanBite · 16/11/2024 20:22

Royal Mail are the absolute worst parcel delivery service in my area.

Someone sent me something a few weeks ago, I was away so asked for it to be delivered to a specific neighbour (I did check with them first). Royal Mail confirmed.

Next day, get an email saying it's been delivered. Got home 3 days later and it has been left outside, on top of some wet leaves. It was completely ruined and RM denied having put it there.

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 17/11/2024 00:46

Cerealkiller4U · 16/11/2024 17:28

That’s incorrect.

you’re contract is with the company

abyobe else goes through this. Pm me! There’s consumer laws and consumer contracts. I can help. That was the companies fault.

everyone try to pay with a credit card. Even if you pay it back straight aaay. You get much more help when buying it on a credit card.

I can help though!

in what way was I incorrect??

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 17/11/2024 00:47

Questionary · 16/11/2024 17:36

How do you know it was the very guy that nicked if? And if you have evidence of that why didn’t that secure a refund or go to police?

I have a ring doorbell.

The company didn’t give a shit because Evri denied it even with evidence.

the police couldn’t give two shits either.

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 17/11/2024 00:48

saltysandysea · 16/11/2024 17:40

I have had this with Evri as well - silently delivered the parcel (did not ring the doorbell), took a photo and took it back to their van. Anything worth over £20 can get nicked.

Loads of issues with them delivering to just anywhere but the address. Someone found a parcel just by the side of the road in our village.

I never go with Evri and I always check before privatising from a supplier. Lots of issues in our area

ObliviousCoalmine · 17/11/2024 07:50

Why are you behaving like it's your first day as a human?

MeatPotatos · 17/11/2024 10:39

Ok so now I truly need help

Customer service got back to me insisting that in the track system for RM it was delivered to my address and I had to tell him to double check the photo in the track system because the door number the parcel was left at is clearly not my door

I pointed to the photo 1st time - this is proof it was not delivered to my address - of course RM ticked my address, but the photo they took can't be argued with - it is not my door and the wrong number is clearly on shown

I'm appalled that I had to tell them to check the photo and they are trying to argue it was delivered to my address and telling me to check with family members when I clearly told them I was at home waiting

Ok so now I truly need help

Why?

If there's a photograph showing a clearly different house number, just point this out and keep pointing it out.

It's literally impossible for them to argue with when they have your address on file and photographic evidence it was not delivered to your address.

What help do you need?

Thelnebriati · 17/11/2024 11:52

How did you pay? If they are refusing to accept the evidence that the parcel was delivered to the wrong address, escalate to your bank or credit card.

I had this. I took a photo of my front door and sent it to them to show them it was not my door. Annoying but it was sorted.

Havalona · 17/11/2024 11:57

I always give the benefit of the doubt, as I am a total softie and feel very sorry for delivery drivers and their conditions of work. I don't want anyone to lose their job for my Amazon order or whatever. The only delivery I missed was sent to the depot which is ten minutes away.

People today are obsessed with their "rights" and cannot wait to stick the knife in wherever they can. BEFORE giving the benefit of a little patience that is.

This happened to me with a small purchase that came through Royal Mail, I think their GPS is out sometimes.
I used google (street map) and looked up the house with the same number in the street below mine and the street above mine using the photo of the front door from the delivery. The door matched with the door of the same number in the street above me, so I took the photo and knocked on the door. The person had the parcel waiting for me.
Try that?

MeatPotatos · 17/11/2024 14:30

So
I managed to find the house where it was delivered to
Knocked and they denied they had the parcel
I showed them the photo and they still denied
I told them that RM and the shop would be doing an investigation

After a few minutes I got an agressive knock on my door and when I opened the parcel was there - opened and the way they opened, the lid of the box was destroyed
Luckly the tag is on and it seems it has been unused

Happy that I can now return it and get the money back but it is a pity that it had to come to this
Not sure what RM would have done as it could have been genuinely stolen from their door step seeing the way it was just left there, it would probably take weeks of back and forth but at least now I can start the week with this problem solved

PaminaMozart · 17/11/2024 16:09

Glad to hear you got the coat in the end, but it is not clear to me why you want to return it?

MeatPotatos · 17/11/2024 16:31

Because I especifically wanted to wear this morning and I couldn’t and since I managed to pull off another outfit, I decided I will keep looking for another coat.

IkeaJesusChrist · 17/11/2024 16:45

You are aware that coats can be worn more than once right?

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 17/11/2024 17:11

Do they live really close then, given that they knocked on your do so quickly?

How rude of them. I can understand opening a parcel before you check the name etc but not to deny having it.
