To want my money back in my acct asap

Ordered a coat from a known French store (£295)

Been receiving update emails and it was due to be delivered today

Made sure to stay home and at 2 received a notification saying it has been delivered
It has not

I was home waiting. The doorbell is working. I did not have headphones on nor went shower just in case.

Sent the store an email demanding my money back. I don’t want to be re-sent the same item and I don’t want store credit either.
I know it is not their fault but it us not mine either. I kept my end of the bargain which was to pay and stay home to open the door.

Now will have to go out and see if I find a coat somewhere as I plan to wear it tomorrow.

Where do I stand? Anyone been through similar?

Do they live really close then, given that they knocked on your do so quickly?

How rude of them. I can understand opening a parcel before you check the name etc but not to deny having it.

Maybe there were embarassed but then became concerned when heard the word investigation

But I’m glad they returned

Thankfully you now have the coat in your possession OP, but my understanding (from a distant Martin Lewis show memory) is that if you've paid for it on your credit card, then you can dispute the charge as the item has failed to arrived with you.

Your 'contract' is with the store for them to delivery it safely to your correct address - the means that they use is up to them, and becomes their problem if that means fails to deliver item to the correct place. They then have to take up that dispute with the delivery service that they've engaged to reimburse the costs of the misdelivered or lost item, as that's between them, that their 'contract'.

That's why I always purchased things online with a credit card as opposed to other means.

Hrf1503 · 17/11/2024 19:05

Always pay on credit card OP, especially for big purchases. If they had refused or your evidence hadn’t been as good, if you’ve paid on credit card the credit card company reverse the charge and then the company you purchased from has to prove that they delivered it. I’m glad you got it in the end. Very cheeky of the person who received it

Deeperthantheocean · 17/11/2024 19:12

If you want it why would t you be happy with a replacement? You could end with 2 if lucky. X

We had similar with our daughter’s Shein parcel, got a text notification saying its been delivered, no where to be found
but it was showing on the royal mail info as being delivered the next day-turned up the next day, all very strange
give it some time

dannyufcfan · 17/11/2024 20:14

You sound rather dramatic

^ very much this.
Bit of a storm over nothing.

Most deliveries take a photo of a parcel delivered. Tell your bank they will do a cash back (whatever it's called).

MeatPotatos · 16/11/2024 15:13

Not yet, I sent the email around 2.30pm and Sat today so maybe they will respond on Monday

Edited as seen OP update

it shows delivered and a photo of the box on a floor, the door is closed - no one is receiving it - could well get stolen - or the person who lives there could keep it

it also says it is my ‘safe place’

I guess the person who lives there was not at home

I was😭

Pop a picture of the ‘proof of delivery’ on your local Facebook group & ask whose front door your parcel had been delivered to

Pandasnacks · 18/11/2024 18:27

@T1Dmama read the updates

HunterCatMum · 19/11/2024 21:22

I haven’t read all posts, sorry, but under distance selling regs you can return within 14 days for whatever reason by cancelling your order.

Ok so now I truly need help

Customer service got back to me insisting that in the track system for RM it was delivered to my address and I had to tell him to double check the photo in the track system because the door number the parcel was left at is clearly not my door

I pointed to the photo 1st time - this is proof it was not delivered to my address - of course RM ticked my address, but the photo they took can't be argued with - it is not my door and the wrong number is clearly on shown

I'm appalled that I had to tell them to check the photo and they are trying to argue it was delivered to my address and telling me to check with family members when I clearly told them I was at home waiting

You don’t argue with royal mail

ite up to the company sezane or whatever they’re called. That’s who the onus is on to prove it’s been delivered correctly.

Yes. I posted this advice way uothread

with a credit card it’s not your money. Hence why you get much more protections

For the third time. It’s not called that noe

noe it’s called consumer contracts.

Semantics. You can still cancel the contract within 14 days of receiving the goods if bought online

Very OTT, you can’t just demand your money back, delivery issues are common although annoying. You did your bit, the company also did their bit.

You can return the item once delivered and get your money back.

What was the bit the company did right. How can she send back a coat she never received?

Nantescalling · 21/11/2024 10:19

Pandasnacks · 16/11/2024 15:07

Well I'm sure theyl refund it itl take a normal amount of time. They need to get the parcel back first for one thing

What parcel - no parcel ever arrived.
