To try and find some good teens books that don't push the LGBTQ agenda?

Trying to get some books for my daughter who is in S1, books are either too young or they all have a blurb that alludes to the main character's sexual preferences. Would love it if anyone could recommend something your pre-teens, or young teens are reading that don't include those topics? They already get enough information about it in school and the internet.

Right?

"People are only mentally ill because it's trendy"

It's all gross

What’s gross is grown men forcing their way into my daughters changing room in order to flash them.

what’s gross is men telling women that despite having a cock and balls - they really do understand what it s like to be a woman

whats gross is men ruing women’s sport because they’re too shit to be in the men’s team

And MN continues to let this derailed, phobic thread continue
Disgusting

Point at the transphobia and I am sure it will be taken down.

where is the transphobia?

men can’t be women.

humans can’t change sex.

I'm not going to reply back to anyone, because I know the logic. Especially the person who wants to fuck Trump yet in their history says they have no friends IRL.

This thread is disgusting. I am sickened by the hate, I'm shocked MN thinks this is okay. If this was a thread by a man saying they didn't want books with women as main characters, the replies would be very different.

It's like going back in time. The same things I heard about gay people as a kid, the hate towards trans people - acting like they're all mentally ill. I know some trans people and no, they aren't. They're just like you and me. People with their own lives and upset, and gender is one of them. HRT also almost deadens sex drive for AMAB folk, did anyone know that? No one in your bogs is thinking about fucking you. No matter what the Daily Mail says.

It doesn't surprise me that this hasn't been deleted because there's a prolific poster on here who always "wins".

To those who might read this and feel terrible; this is not the view of most people. Even religious people. My neighbour is a church goer and I've been to her meetings. They don't care. They're open. They care about people being happy and being alive.

Again, I won't be replying so quote me until you turn so blue you're purple. But this thread is bigoted.

There is no hate here

no transphobia

men should not be in women’s spaces.

gender doesn’t exist

trans people are not having a suicide spree (thankfully)

nobody wishes any pain or suffering on trans people. But their rights DO NOT TRUMP OTHER PEOPLES

TofuTart · 21/11/2024 22:17

Do you actually have any book suggestions for the OP who doesn't want any same sex sexual preferences? Or did you just see a chance to go off on one and run with it?

Reading through these threads on mumsnet I sometimes wonder what happens when people like @GenerativeAIBot find themselves in the position of having to work with a transgender person, or provide healthcare or education services to them. I think the levels of contempt and antipathy on display here towards transgender people are so extreme I can't imagine that it would be possible for these people to hide their feelings. It's really concerning thinking about women like this having any sort of position of responsibility or authority over transgender people in real life - just not safe.

exactly this. It’s profoundly disturbing.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 22/11/2024 00:07

MN mods are rather lenient on transphobia and tend to let the most blatant transphobic comments stand.

Transpeople are not trying to force their way into anyone's spaces, expose themselves, go through the life changing and humiliating experience of "outing themselves" just to get sport's places or anything else. They're just people who want to live safe lives. They're people more at risk in single sex areas. They're people more at risk of suicide and self harm

But sure, MN can keep letting posters call them names and imply they are perverts...

Ah yes Harry Potter
Whose spin off media has openly gay characters and which had an incredibly high number of "slash fanfics" because of the underlying sexual tension between characters

Oh and characters who can quite literally use potions and magic to change their bodies (ironically, considering JKR's stance, this includes characters changing sex using potions)

TofuTart · 22/11/2024 00:14

It only occurred to me whilst writing the response. And I had to think but we do know Barty Crouch Jr and his mother swapped sex with it (so it's possible)

It rather amused me to realise

I don't think people like that actually do work tbh. Their posts are all fantastical. Judging by their old posts they can't even make a friend, so working alongside other people is probably a thing of torture. It's all a wild tale.

Why are trans persons more at risk in a single sex environment? Surely a trans woman is the same as any other born male in terms of strength and being able to defend themselves? And I don't see how a transman would be at risk from other women? Biological women don't tend to be prone to violence and sexual offences nearly as much as biological men.

I honestly don't see what harm can come of a trans woman accessing a men's shelter or men's toilets. What's the worst that could happen? Can't they just be their birth sex for the time it takes to do a wee or poo? I can't see how a few minutes of having to be their birth sex could hurt. They can go back to identifying when they've done their business . I mean trans people have always managed to do this no problem , it hasn't been an issue until very recently. I can't help but feel a huge fuss is being made by some very vocal TRA over a storm in a teacup. Nobody has killed themselves over having to use a bathroom of their birth sex. People don't self harm over trivial issues. As someone who has a history of self harm and attempted suicide due to severe trauma I find this quite offensive tbh.

Because a transman going into the ladies loo will be scorned as a man in a female space and going into the men's loo has the same risk women fear in there. Same for transwomen - going into the ladies and they are called perverts, going into the men's risks "you want to be a woman, fine let me use you as a woman" type risks...

Transwomen on HRT lose some of their "male strength" and just like all men are not as strong as all other men, so too may a transwoman not be as strong as a man

The rest is so offensive though - transpeople DO kill themselves and self harm because they don't feel accepted and welcomed. Toilets are one of the worst places for highlight their gender dysphoria. Knowing actual transpeople and seeing them arrive at the toilets and pause, unsure which is going to be safest (and usually deciding on the accessible loo), it's not some trivial thing. Being trans isn't something they can just "not be for a few minutes"

Thanks for explaining this . I had no idea about the hormones causing a lack of male strength and that there could be a risk to them physically. It's an awful prospect to consider that TW could be physically attacked for using the bathroom of their choice. I hadn't realised most trans people had dysphoria either, I always had been told that very few people had dysphoria . I have known people who have come out as trans as adults (no childhood issues on gender or diagnosis of GD) and I guess I assumed that most trans people were like them, as opposed to having a diagnosis of GD. I had no idea that GD was common, I've heard of people being born with it, but I've heard more often about rapid onset trans than the GD cases.

As I understand it actual GD is apparent from a young age, as opposed to a social contagion thing like Eddie Izzard etc.

I wonder why there isn't a call for a greater number of gender neutral toilets to be built, so there's a third option as well? I know some venues do have them but couldn't it be made law for all venues to have them?

Thank you for being so open to listening. You're a decent person, the first on this thread to actually listen.

I have a friend with dysphoria that bad she can't even use a mirror. She had to do her makeup by bringing a mirror up close to each eye. Do you know body dysmorphia? Where you think you're fat but you're thin? It's like that but worse. She's beautiful too.

HRT usually makes AMAB people weaker. It also deadens erections and sex drive (that's why it used to be a punishment for gay men). Trans folk are often accused of being perverts and ready to attack women. It isn't even on their radar.

Thank you for being a good person and being willing to listen. Please don't be decieved by the hate from some people who have an agenda. 🧡

I had a friend with body dysmorphia and ED. It sounds like hell on earth, she is slim and beautiful but thinks she is fat and ugly. It's so sad.

I'm glad I responded to this thread because it's important to learn about other people's lived experiences.
