To try and find some good teens books that don't push the LGBTQ agenda?

Trying to get some books for my daughter who is in S1, books are either too young or they all have a blurb that alludes to the main character's sexual preferences. Would love it if anyone could recommend something your pre-teens, or young teens are reading that don't include those topics? They already get enough information about it in school and the internet.

Trans people have been around for fifteen years. Before that we just called them cross dressers.
trying to rewrite history has failed.

Not the same thing at all, and trans people have been around for hundreds of years as a matter of hiatorical record: but do carry on displaying your complete lack of knowledge.

Tell us how it’s different?

Occasionally dressing in the other gender clothes vs taking on the whole identify lock stock and barrel. Honestly it's not a difficult concept, unless you simply don't wish to.
I imagine you'll all be reporting me now for challenging the MN Zeitgeist. Carry on. The facts however will not change. History is what it is.

I reject entirely the concept that the only people who can talk about a thing, are the thing.

We aren't saying you can't talk about it
But to tell the people directly affected that they are wrong and what's being said doesn't affect them is gross

Tandora · 20/11/2024 15:34

GenerativeAIBot · 20/11/2024 14:53

You believe in sky fairies. I get it. I don’t believe in gendered identity. I don’t believe there are some things only men can do. I don’t believe in sexism.

transmen, AKA women aren’t a concern to anyone in private spaces because they can’t rape anyone. It’s about having the penis and the strength.

the idea of “trans” is a social contagion as much as self harm is.

everyone who identifies as transgender has multiple other mental health co morbidities. It was only taken out of the DSM through lobbying efforts. I question the motivations of those who did that.

Everyone? Every single one? You are making negative assumptions and Judgements about all trans people? Can you not see how you might be the problem here?

My son and I were just talking about this last night! He's nearly 13 and most of the books he's read recently either have girls as the main character or there are gay parents or gay relationships throughout. He's not homophobic or a mysoginist or anything, but he would like to read some books he can relate to! Where the young teen does boy stuff and has a mum and dad!

Last night he'd started a new book and got to about page 4 where the main characters are introduced. It's a David Williams book and there was a police chief married to a professor. Both were women. He was a bit disappointed and rolled his eyes - 'not again!' he said. He literally just finished a book where the parents were two men, and now they r two women.

I get that we need to represent all different people, professions, relationships etc.. but it would still be nice to have just some books where a boy with a mum and dad can read about and relate to someone in the book from a similar background.

Reading David Walliams might be the issue there

There are plenty of books with male leads. Maybe not with a "traditional" mom and dad though - most are orphans or have single parents that I can think of

What a strange thing for a kid to be annoyed about, I’m sure that 90% of media shows representation of straight couples and their families. Surely the point is that we (gay people) wanted others not to see us as weird or abnormal, so two mums or dads should be seen as part of that by your son, or does he take his views from adults around him who ‘roll their eyes’ at others, are we still abnormal to you normal families?

You haven’t explained anything at all.

Tell us how there is a female identity and a male identity and how they differ?

Yes everyone.

yes “trans” is an idea of a belief no more worthy of respect than any other idea. Like perhaps thinking the earth is flat.

humans can’t change sex.

sometimes sex matters.

The concept gender identity is sexist, regressive and not something that should be promoted or pushed by our society.

Trans is not an idea, any more than sexuality is an idea. Trans people are human, and as worthy of respect as any other human. You do not know the first thing about being trans.

Over and out.

Trans identified people are human

everyone is worthy of respect.

you don’t have any definition of trans other than “men should be allowed into female spaces” I don’t think?

”trans” is a belief, not a fact. It’s not physical or testable for. It exists only in our culture as a meme. A new one at that.

Looking back at what my DS read in his early teens, he seemed to favour books like the LOTR saga along with technical nonfiction on topics like WW2 artillery and cavalry. Meanwhile, some of my DDs were into the Traveling Pants garbage and the Twilight books. At school, different interests in literature were facilitated in classes such as The Victorian Novel, and Literature and War. The classes had equal difficulty levels and the same standard of work was expected. My DDs all opted for the Victorian Novel course, and DS chose the War one.

There's no rule that says everyone has to read the same material, or go to the same movies, or enjoy the same music. I would never have insisted my DDs read as much as they could about the T-34 tank even though it was a superb tank and made a huge difference on the Eastern Front.

if this were true you would be well aware that transgender / gender diverse people have existed in human societies throughout history and across different cultures.

do tell me more about how a lesbian can have a penis.
