I want to runaway from everyone and everything, except my kids. Sounds sensible to me.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 09/11/2024 14:14

Great thread title. I want to do this too.

OAPapparently · 09/11/2024 14:16

100% agree.
Apart from my DC I would happily not interact with people face to face ever again. The modern world is turning people into monsters.

PoorUncleBarry · 09/11/2024 14:17

I've finally kicked out my using, tight arse, lazy, disrespectful uncle after being rinsed for 7 months so I 100% concur with you. I'm done with people.

Sweepsthepillowclean · 09/11/2024 14:19

I am with you!

WhosACleverClogs · 09/11/2024 14:33

Yeah me too! I'm sort of already doing it as much as I can but can't completely avoid people 100%. I hate the world. It's completely messed up! And I hate the world for turning me into a cynical person because of everything I've seen. I only now interact with people as necessary and I'm happier for it. Each time I try to do the opposite, I'm reminded why I don't anymore.

Anisty · 09/11/2024 14:45

Really?!!

Is this some sort of joke thread?

I love people. They are fascinating. I love people-watching and i love talking to people. Everyone is interesting.

I'm an old person though. Is this what technology has done?! Or are you all old as well?

Tiddlywinkly · 09/11/2024 14:55

I often joke to dh that I want to live in a (warm) cave. Except it's not really a joke.

Compash · 09/11/2024 14:59

Some days I want to wear a big old spikey coat like Beetlejuice... 😄

AnotherChildFreeCatLady · 09/11/2024 15:00

I totally agree with you, people suck and most of them are fuckwits. I'm happy being around animals and my family. Luckily I work remotely so I can go months without having to interact in person with someone outside of my household and its lovely.

Tcateh · 09/11/2024 15:01

I'd love to live in my immediate world only.
Like in 1982 or something.

Diaries, landlines, calendars, newspapers only. Postcards, letters and a paper savings book.

Discos, phone boxes, great TV.

Would you call 35 old?

femfemlicious · 09/11/2024 15:02

I want to live on a deserted island with my kids. People are just horrible.

HRT might help

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 09/11/2024 15:04

Well, I mean... if that's how you feel, then YANBU to avoid people. I find that most of the people I meet are nice.

Back21970 · 09/11/2024 15:04

I feel a bit like this myself at the moment ☹️

Mebebecat · 09/11/2024 15:07

Yup. I'll keep DH though and once a month I will accept one visitor of my choosing.

I agree. Access to the wider world, though it has its advantages, seems to have exacerbated the problem. I've seen it all. I'm not a young 'un. I'm ready to narrow back my world again. I used to love people watching too and I 'saw' people - different kinds of people for what they are. Nothing more to see here and I'm happy about my world and in myself - not so much with the world and human beings in general ( of course there are exceptions and lovely people but they're not the majority. The world wouldn't be this messed up if they were). If only I had the power to fix it all...but I don't. So I'd live in my own world.

Mittens67 · 09/11/2024 15:18

Yes. Cats are much nicer.

They should just rename Mumsnet Misanthropes Anonymous and be done with it.

anareen · 09/11/2024 15:22

I fully agree with this ! 😊 it's such an ugly world.

notanothernamechange24 · 09/11/2024 15:25

I fully agree too. This weeks events have been the final nail.
I would love to live in the middle of nowhere with only a few select people.

On the whole humans are awful

Lentilweaver · 09/11/2024 15:25

I like people. I feel like this makes me an outlier here.
Maybe because I don't have that many in my life.
