Yes. Cats are much nicer.

I doubt birds agree with you.

Anisty · 09/11/2024 16:19

No. I think you need to be over 40. I am 57.

Well, I'm 35 and I can't stand people, they are the worst and I try to interact with them as little as possible. Esp now with all the moron Trump supporters coming out of the woodwork.

housethatbuiltme · 09/11/2024 17:40

I already live like this.

I see my husband (who is my best friend and my chosen soul mate) and my kids (the family I actively wanted) everyday. Other than that I rarely leave the house except Dr appointments etc... at the moment.

I have one friend I see a few times a year who lives about 2 minutes away. I see DH friends about half a dozen times per year at social events we are invited too and frankly thats enough physical interaction. I can chat to friends who live further away via messenger if I want and chat shit about the world on MN (which I can then just up and leave mid conversation an ignore if someone bothers me which is 'rude' in real life) lol.

I doubt worms agree with birds.

What a strange comment.

My cats have encountered birds only and handful of times (when they fall down the chimney) and they shat themselves each time at the wild flapping thing in their space lol.

Bizarre comment!
Humans do much worse intentionally for various reasons (including purely as a "hobby") to all animals birds included than a cat following their instinctive behaviour to catch a bird and eat it.

I'd love to live in my immediate world only.
Like in 1982 or something.

Diaries, landlines, calendars, newspapers only. Postcards, letters and a paper savings book.

Discos, phone boxes, great TV.

Yes, immediate world. I think about this a lot. Making an arrangement, the excitement of walking to meet somebody. The chat afterwards with friends.
The stomach flipping butterflies....would I see him or not? Moping around in a library for hours incase somebody turned up.

I fully agree with this ! 😊 it's such an ugly world.

Only if that is what you focus on.

No no no no no. Most people are wonderful, they really are. You are worrying me because you sound like my adult son.
I work in a hospital and patients say "oh it must be horrible doing your job with all the horrible abusive patients" but NO,.... most people are lovely and kind. Don't let a few twats cloud your view of the majority of people in the UK.
I'm sorry you feel like this 💐

I'm v glad people like you exist but honestly I cannot bear it. If my work tried to make me go back to the office I would lose my mind. Being around other people is a physical discomfort to me

(Except for close friends and family - those are fine but the trouble is how to see them without being exposed to other people Out There)

I don't understand women who say this. Did you just like everyone until menopause? I never did. If anything since my hormones have started to dip I'm more tolerant and understanding. I get WHY people are as they are the poor things
... But they're still cocks I don't wanna talk to

Aw honey, I just don't want you to miss out on interacting with interesting people. Life is to be lived. (She says with her jammies on, eating a Chinese takeaway at 6pm on a Sat night) 😂

InThePinkScarf · 09/11/2024 18:03

I know I am a kind and thoughtful person, people tell me all the time. But they also abuse it everytime. So I am done with people.

Nope. But menopause gives you /me the green light/excuse, to say what you feel. Some people like the directness, others don't. The point is the less of a f#£k you give. Embrace it 😂

Hedjwitch · 09/11/2024 18:08

Well I was out selling poppies today and chatted with so many warm, friendly and generous people I felt quite uplifted. From those handing over a few coins with an apologetic " that's all I've got" to those with larger banknotes and an airy " keep the change". Children who are in scouts, beavers, brownies etc getting their poppy to wear in parades tomorrow, to the immaculately turned out Cadets who gave me a polite " thank you ma'am" when I put money in their tin.
I saw nothing but good today.

username7891 · 09/11/2024 18:10

It's not people so much as TV 'personalities'. I have no patience for their inanity.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 09/11/2024 18:11

There is a certain irony of people trying to connect online to other people to moan about how much they hate people.

I live in a hygge country, I guess known for being content with our lives because it’s good enough. I’m with you @Didshejustsaythatoutloud, I’m a preschool teacher and in 25 years I can honestly say that most of the parents I’ve met and colleagues I’ve had are really nice people. I’m so thankful to talk to them every day, even though I’m often extremely tired after work. My colleagues have become such good friends and I’d be bored out of my brain staying at home every day.

I think that the more you work from home the more you hate people and think the world is shit. It’s only your few friends who happen to be nice and good people. It’s not true.

Errolwasahero · 09/11/2024 18:15

I often feel a bit like you op, then I see something like I saw this morning, someone local on fb reaching out for help and within minutes total strangers had come together to help them out. I see it so often I have to accept that most people are good, at heart. We’re all just trying to make it through the day, really. Little kindnesses help make it all worthwhile.

Disturbia81 · 09/11/2024 18:20

I am out and about mixing with people all day long and most people are good and nice.

I’m normally a people person but not today. 5 camper-vans parked in my drive didn’t get the day off to a good start. In the end a tractor was involved to remove them so I could get out. I’m peopled out today with their stupidness and rudeness.

😳 where do you live that 5 randoms just park up on your drive?!

Nothatgingerpirate · 09/11/2024 18:27

No problem, OP.
I'm waiting to be completely on my own, so I can just shut the apartment door behind me.
Have my own seasons, birthdays, Christmasses.
Or whatever else.

I just feel this is telling me what I knew when I was 17!
