Could you be with a man who would have voted Trump?

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 21:04

Just that really.

My husband doesn't love Trump exactly but said tonight he would have voted for him and he hopes Trump will "dismantle the deep state".

Could you be with a Trump voter? Interested in people's views.

No. What is the point of a man with no ability to think critically and who hates women? You might as well be in a romantic relationship with a monitor lizard.

Nanny0gg · 06/11/2024 21:07

No. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with opposing political views but as Trump is such a loathsome individual I couldn't cope with being with someone who supported him

RisingSunn · 06/11/2024 21:07

Yes - it’s not always about the “person” but the policies.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 21:07

No, it would be a deal breaker for me. But my DH would also have to have had a lobotomy before he would consider voting for a fascist like Trump.

Nope. Don't mind someone on the other side of the political fence to me but not to that extreme.

MrsKeats · 06/11/2024 21:10

Absolutely not.

Perfectly stated and I'm in complete agreement. Had my husband been in favor of Trump, we'd be in couples counseling and likely divorce. It's too much of a delta between our respective value systems and I couldn't be with someone who'd deprioritize my bodily autonomy and longterm health.

Michelle12A · 06/11/2024 21:10

I mean over 50% of men did

Evenstar · 06/11/2024 21:10

I am afraid it would be on par with voting Reform for me, I could not be with someone who held those views. If they also believed in nonsensical conspiracy theories like the deep state there would be no future in the relationship.

No

Rain11 · 06/11/2024 21:11

I would have voted for Trump myself if I could... so yes, I would and I am.

wheeliegood · 06/11/2024 21:12

@Rain11 I find myself I a lefty vacuum these days. Not being goady, genuinely interested in why?

wheeliegood · 06/11/2024 21:13

** in a lefty vacuum (ie on social media)

Hillrunning · 06/11/2024 21:13

Nope. Thankfully mine understands that women are humans.

bats eyelids your statistics are so manly. I'm sure you must be right.

Great, I hope MNetters have exed any pussygrabbers and are marrying each other or living it up.

Husbands have never been a requirement for motherhood. Not all men manage to become husband material.

Moonshiners · 06/11/2024 21:14

Obviously not. I have a DH who respects women and respects the future of our daughters.
Equally he would not deal with me voting for a right wing millionaire who's main reason for becoming president again is to avoid prison.

12plusexam · 06/11/2024 21:15

Voted for Trump yes but words "dismantle deep state" potentially worrying

doodleschnoodle · 06/11/2024 21:16

No, it's a core difference in values that would be incompatible with a life together. That said, I'd expect that this kind of life view would have been apparent before this, so perhaps it isn't a surprise? It also sounds like he's going down the conspiracy YouTube rabbit hole.

Absolutely not. His views towards anyone not orange white and male are pretty repulsive. He can barely string a sentence together and promised the impossible to get elected.

ETA quoted a post accidently.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 06/11/2024 21:16

Yes.
Would definitely not entertain anytime foolish enough to vote for Kamala.

Ha ha! I wish Mumsnet had a 'like' button.

P1550FF · 06/11/2024 21:17

Yes. I would have voted for him.

Billyandharry · 06/11/2024 21:18

I can't believe someone's honestly asking this question.
