Could you be with a man who would have voted Trump?

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 21:04

Just that really.

My husband doesn't love Trump exactly but said tonight he would have voted for him and he hopes Trump will "dismantle the deep state".

Could you be with a Trump voter? Interested in people's views.

I don't understand people who would break up marriages and end friendships over politics. Its all a bit ridiculous really. I 100% guarantee that many of the people who claimed to vote for Harris actually voted for Trump and lied because they just don't want the hassle and preaching. He won the popular vote, you'd probably be cutting out more people than you'd expect.

P1550FF · 06/11/2024 21:17

Yes. I would have voted for him.

Yup me too. My man and me could be a pair of deplorables together.

Netcam · 06/11/2024 22:25

Absolutely not. I always said I'd never sleep with a Tory.

Caerulea · 06/11/2024 22:26

No. Not cos of politics but cos he's a rapist. Hubby tends towards the Tories & I very much don't. But there are limits.

Some of you need to realise that it’s a democracy, people have the choice to vote for the party that they think will serve them and their families the best. Voting for a party doesn’t mean you love everything that the leader of that party has ever said, or even that you like the person. 100% of Americans were never going to vote for Harris. I respect those who voted for Harris, and those who voted for trump. Why? Because they have the freedom to vote as they please. It doesn’t mean that every Trump voter supports his personal beliefs or everything that has ever come out of his mouth.

Every single one of them knowingly voted for a rapist and convicted criminal. That's a moral red line for many of us. No amount of wittering about democracy cancels it out. Ever.

aCatCalledFawkes · 06/11/2024 22:27

Nope. We are both quite centred.we discussed various things tonight and I just know we are on the same page.

lovelysunshine22 · 06/11/2024 22:31

I would rather be with a man who voted Trump than one who voted for Keir!

I am afraid it would be on par with voting Reform for me, I could not be with someone who held those views. If they also believed in nonsensical conspiracy theories like the deep state there would be no future in the relationship.

Without being goady...what are reforms views...I know they are anti uncontrolled immigration, but even looking pre election the only policy I could see was to lift income tax to £20k...every one says they are something bad...I'm just not sure what that bad actually is. Their website is pretty much empty of anything much.

they don't have proper policies because they aren't a proper party, they just jump on one single idea at a time because that's all the people who vote for them can cope with.

Have they taken their manifesto down then? The thing that sticks in my mind was that they were going to exempt every NHS employee on less than £50k from income tax. Where they thought the money would come from is anyone’s guess.

Exactly this. It's not actually about the politics side of it. He is a literal sex offender. How low does the bar need to go? Would they forgive murder?

Would they be happy if a sex offender got a job as a Headteacher at their child's school? Or if their boss was a rapist? I doubt it, there would be carnage, and rightly so. Yet they happily just voted for one to be the leader of their entire country?! Make it make sense.

No, you don't have to like everything that a candidate has ever said or done, but is the bar really that low that they will forgive sex offenders? This isn't a case of a misspent youth doing drugs, or shoplifting. It is one crime down from murder, for which he isn't even sorry.

Mine didn't vote for Keir because he wanted to vote for Corbyn and couldn't 😁

sprigatito · 06/11/2024 22:40

It's so telling - and so horrifying - that the fact that Trump is a rapist is being treated like some sort of irrelevant footnote. Women just don't matter at all.

PlumbsInWine · 06/11/2024 22:42

Convicted criminal.
Rapist.
Endorsed by KKK.
Talks about women’s value only in terms of looks.
Appointed man accused of sexual assault to Supreme Court.
Caused Roe v Wade to be overturned.
Hangs out with billionaire narcissists who want to dismantle workers rights.
Is a nepo-baby who is so shit at business that if he’d just left his inheritance in a high interest account would actually be richer now than he is…

Ummmm…no. I think I’d rather eat razor laced brownies than be with a man who supports Trump.

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 22:48

@PlumbsInWine breaking my kids hearts and divorcing their dad is about as appealing to me as eating razor laced brownies

But listening to him lecture me about globalist agendas is pretty unappealing too.

He honestly is describing Trump and Musk as anti elite. Just gets angry when I say they are they are the definition of the elite!!

I agree but exactly how does that make them evil incarnate as so many people say that they are? I'm genuinely confused...every thing they say is a bit potty, sorta monster raving looney, but not a reason for the reaction.

sunflowersngunpowdr · 06/11/2024 22:54

This!! It is so enraging! These people have mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, but all is forgiven because they think he has some good policies?! Fuck his policies, he's a rapist, an actual rapist! He should be in prison, not the white house.

This isn't a case of right versus left. It is a case of right versus wrong. This isn't a difference of opinion, we are talking about a convicted felon and sex offender. That should be the only thing that matters here.

lollypopsforme · 06/11/2024 22:55

Dating a man as nothing to do with a vote does it?

LivinInYourBigGlassHouseWithAView · 06/11/2024 22:55

Nope

I've even stepped back from acquaintances who think he's great

stayathomer · 06/11/2024 22:57

See the thing is I would have said no until I listened to pretty much a day of people giving their reasons for voting for trump. Kamala wasn’t offering enough to the people who needed more money in their pocket. She was offering ideals that suited people who didn’t have to worry about food and fuel prices or jobs. I would argue with them a lot though 😅

whenwhenwhen · 06/11/2024 22:58

No.

OnceUponATimeInTheWest · 06/11/2024 23:00

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 21:37

H just said "I don't like Trump but Kamala represents the globalist status quo agenda".

Fucking hell.

I'm not sure you can argue with that to be fair. Says something when the Democrats are so unpopular with their old blue collar base that a large number would either rather not vote or vote for someone like Trump.

They have no-one to blame but themselves for the mess they have put everyone in.

Farage is very careful about what he says but they're typically supported by racists. If you read up on the candidates they put forward during the last election, a lot of them had very extreme views particularly around race.

Farage also supports Putin and Trump, he admires Andrew Tate and Enoch Powell.

Their manifesto was pie in the sky and uncosted as they knew they wouldn't achieve much. They largely exist as rabble rousers.

Farage is renowned for being lazy, he hasn't done any MP surgeries in his constituency since he was voted in.

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 23:02

Can someone explain what a "globalist world agenda" actually is? I told H it sounds like a conspiracy theory and he tried to explain it to me. Do other people understand it?
