Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

I'm watching it live - or rather hoping to - @EasternStandard, and so far it's just people peering at the podium and fiddling with the flags

and playing horrid music

What are you watching it on, @BellyPork?
On my feed it's just background scratching noises ...

Trump didn't give a loss acceptance speech last time though did he?

So why should Kamala.

Because she's not a dickhead like Trump is?

MichaelandKirk · 06/11/2024 21:23

Why the delay? The PR says 2100 UK time. Very rude

They're probably rewriting and rewriting

LadyGabriella · 06/11/2024 21:23

Very rude indeed.

LatteLady · 06/11/2024 21:23

The Speech by the VP will be scheduled to fit with the US news cycle which means it will have to satisfy the six time zones in the US, it is not just a case of stepping onto your front lawn and delivering it. This will also necessitate getting TV and press crews in situ to film and deliver it, together with her travelling back to Washington.

Her team have announced it will be at Howard University at 4:00pm EST, which will fit in with the evening news schedule.

BellyPork · 06/11/2024 21:23

They're clapping

Ah, thanks - just clicked it and I see it's got the commentary and associated rhubarb. I'd got it on the Times, and on that it's just a focus on the balcony

The Democrats should have pushed Biden out and primaried their nominee.
It would have given Harris et al more credibility with the electorate.

Also the Dems spent too much time on issues that did not cut through.
Trump zeroed in on the economy and immigration.
And won.

The number of voters that cared about his offences, LGBT issues, abortion and reproductive rights - lost to the voters that cared about the economy, jobs, and immigration.

In the UK, the first Conservative leader that pulls the same playbook will put them back in government within three years, after a probable confidence vote.

Edited

The number of voters that cared about his offences, LGBT issues,

Can you clarify what LGBT issues you mean?

BellyPork · 06/11/2024 21:24

WTF with the music

HonoraBridge · 06/11/2024 21:24

I am waiting for her speech now. Currently 24 minutes late…Says it all really.

HellsBalls · 06/11/2024 21:24

Finally

IvyTwines · 06/11/2024 19:47

If she can't handle a short speech to her own disappointed and sad supporters. how was she considered world leader material? Can you imagine her trying to deal with a war, foreign dictator or catastrophic event?

I'm somewhat horrified at the thought of Trump doing any of these things.

BellyPork · 06/11/2024 21:25

Doesn't look inebriated

LadyGabriella · 06/11/2024 21:25

Hahaha good afternoon
