Where is Kamala?

Annabella92 · 06/11/2024 18:30

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

She comes over as very lightweight. Now Michelle Obama would have had a really good chance of beating Trump. IMHO. So it's nothing to do with being black or a woman. Folk need to look further for the reasons she lost.

I’m a life long conservative but I like the Obamas. Their strong centrist values appeal to swing voters. She will take her chance but Michelle is smart. Trump won this election two years ago. This wasn’t her time.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/11/2024 20:32

She would have never got the nomination this time if she ran, she only got it because Biden dropped down mid race and they had to scramble to replace him

She may not have got it even then, @Ilovelifeverymuch, had the campaign money not been tied to being spent on either her or Biden

I hadn't realised they spent over a billion (thanks, @Twistybranch), and it's no wonder they dumped her on voters rather than lose that kind of money - though I do wonder how much this had to do with voters naming democracy as their leading concern in the exit polls

I think we also need to discuss Tim Walz as her running mate as well.

I don’t think he was a good choice especially as this election was always going to be decided in Penn.

JD Vance wiped the floor with him in the debates. He seems like a nice guy but being a nice guy isn’t the criteria for VP.

I think that's actually exactly what they were betting on actually, but when Vance appeared in his human skinsuit during the debate, he had nowhere to go.

They did indeed, MillyMichaelson, but put it this way ... if the incoming results had been going Kamala's way does anyone suppose she'd just have scuttled off and left someone else to suggest the faithful go home?

As PPs have said this is about grace under fire and leadership skills, and to many she'll just be confirming that they did right to reject her

Except when Trump lost he didn't call Biden to congratulate him or turn up to the inauguration ceremony. What does that say about the one who has just been elected. Should he have been rejected on that basis?

juldan · 06/11/2024 20:33

Bellatrixpure · 06/11/2024 18:34

They usually call to congratulate the winner, wonder if she has managed to do this

@Bellatrixpure
Like Trump did in 2020??
Wherever she is, I am certain she is not planning to storm the Capitol.

DonnaSummet · 06/11/2024 18:36

I'm guessing she's knackered and very angry. Maybe needed some sleep a good cry and time to gather her thoughts.
She is only human.

This!

Slowtopic · 06/11/2024 20:34

Trump shouldn’t be the standard of behaviour here. That’s the point. Other Democrat candidates who ran for election should be.

fanaticalfairy · 06/11/2024 20:34

Maybe she's waiting until the voting has actually ended?

If she says well done now, she might be handing more seats to him, as those last few voters may think, ah fuck it, I won't bother then.

True but saying she should have been rejected on that basis is a bit rich when they seem to be forgetting who was elected instead.

I don't know, race is a very contentious issue in the good ol US of A.

More than DT managed last time then

I can think of countless reasons to reject Trump and that's just one of them, BotanicalGreen, but as said not everything has to be about "what he did" when his behaviour set such a low bar

And if the Democrats couldn't rise above even that they probably desrved to lose

If she says well done now, she might be handing more seats to him, as those last few voters may think, ah fuck it, I won't bother then

A bit difficult, perhaps, considering the polls closed last night ...

Summerhillsquare · 06/11/2024 20:41

Yes @Ludoo , I know what a fascist is, Trump is one. Before you patronise further, I suggest you read up on fascist policies on women. Kinder, kirchen and küchen springs to mind. Even the most graceless unprofessional woman is better than that.

Why do you feel sorry for OP? 🤔

FfsBrian · 06/11/2024 20:43

Apparently she’s cancelled speeches despite people turning up and is getting ‘aggressively pissed'

You were accusing the posters in this thread of being fascists were you not ?😉

I'd definitely be getting aggressively pissed in her shoes

MrsPeregrine · 06/11/2024 20:46

I’ve read that Biden will be giving a speech tomorrow but couldn’t find anything about Kamala coming out to make a statement. I think she owes it to the people who have made so much effort to help her in her campaign to make an appearance to be honest.

You can't just take the Orange one out of the equation though. If you are saying that the Democrats probably deserved to lose, you are effectively saying that it was right that Trump won. It's pretty obvious the two are linked.

Clearly I was referring to Trump and his ragbag of lunatics.

But thanks for demonstrating the reasoning skills of the Trump sympathisers.

News media are reporting that she’s expected on stage in the next 10 minutes.

How is it bitter to critique a senior political figure? Isn't that a democratic right?

The OP was being downright nasty rather than offering a critique - but then, I suspect you already know that.

SweetcornFritter · 06/11/2024 20:51

She has congratulated the Orange Clown and is making a televised speech in 10 minutes time.
