Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

The difficulty anyone has in making a concession speech is that they will always be judged against John McCain in 2008, and generally find it very difficult to compare

It was an utter masterpiece wasn't it? Smile

For anyone unfamiliar, here it is: https://www.npr.org/2008/11/05/96631784/transcript-of-john-mccains-concession-speech

Not a Trump supporter. Nor am I a Kamala supporter. Both those things can be true at the same time.

But, on your point, I long for the day that both sides can have an adult conversation without resorting to insults. I suspect I'll be waiting a long time...

Very much with you on admiring neither, Jumpingthruhoops, and you may indeed be waiting a long time for the lack of insults

Right now it reminds me of a school playground, with "He did it first miss!!" Sad

Seriously? Just have a little think about what the scumbag who has won did four years ago - invite a riot which led to deaths.

Taking time to compose a response is fine. Encouraging a bunch of morons to storm the Capitol was not.

It looked more like a guided tour to me, but we won't see eye to eye on that.

We're talking semantics of nastiness and comparison is intrinsic in that. Trump can out-nasty anyone except perhaps Putin.

I'm absolutely genuinely amazed that somebody could even dream up a reframe like this 😂Guided tour! 😂😂😂Amazing!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Meganssweatycrotch · 07/11/2024 12:59

And this is why social media is toxic. Critical thinking seems to no longer be a thing.

It’s remarkable how bias makes us lose a sense of reasonableness.

The Jan 6 riots become a guided tour, Kamala and her team being circumspect about the results and deciding when right to concede becomes her lacking the character to concede on election night, forgetting that Trump has never conceded, Trump and team suggesting voter fraud in the run up to this election but happy to accept that he won this time and no further mention of irregularities and put that in the context of his/supporters reaction to the last election results.

I understand people voting on issues that matter to them but it’s the blind support that some have that I can’t get my head round.

I went on a guided tour round Cliveden. We definitely didn't break any windows, go into private rooms and nick stuff. Did I fail to get the full experience?

Did you shit on anyone's desk though? I don't think its a proper guided tour unless you do that.

There were gallows set up outside with people chanting for the VP to be hanged. The Speaker of the House had her laptop stolen. Feces were smeared on the walls. Police officers were severely injured.

What kind of guided tours do you take?

RavenhairedRachel · 07/11/2024 18:28

To be fair Kamala was up against it from the start. That doddery old fart Biden should have stepped down sooner. If he had done the decent thing and stepped down earlier the Democrats would have had time to regroup get a new candidate. Someone new and with charisma and new ideas. Let's face it they were never going to elect a female president.

I agree with this. His speech today was awful. Slurred speech, repetition and what his good ol' mum and dad used to say. He should have stepped back much earlier and maybe we wouldn't have ended up with this mess.

I've just seen a picture of her sitting, looking defeated, probably knackered, with Hilary Clinton. They were on plastic chairs, in a corridor. Why would you post this? I find it deeply disturbing and completely lacking in human charity. Are you an American Trump supporter?

Yep. No apologies, no explanation, zilch.
The Dems threw the election away.

Gingernan · 07/11/2024 18:54

She's gone home for a rest. Be glad she's not inciting riot in defeat, she's civilised. She'll be back!

Why always insults!? Really is baffling.

And boring. 😴

Not half as boring as supporting that moron! I'm only warming up. There's not enough insults in the world to describe him!!

I give you -

That really gave a complex addition to the debate!

Jumpingthruhoops · 07/11/2024 11:02

Oh they are and everybody knows that. But I'm assuming his voters look beyond the personality and vote for the policies which, for whatever reason, they believe will benefit their lives in America.

I mean, think about it: why would someone vote for theirs and their kids futures to be shit? They just wouldn't.

How naive.

adriftinadenofvipers · 07/11/2024 19:51

Jumpingthruhoops · 07/11/2024 11:39

They will each have their reasons. Have you asked them?

What was that again that you said about, "adult conversation"??

Maybe she doesn’t work after 5pm like the absolute dick we have in charge here. Good job it’s not a Friday. We wouldn’t be seeing her until Monday.

This is absolute bollocks, but you know that.

Julesc64 · 07/11/2024 20:14

I am so, so glad I don’t know you.
