When you see me doing this I'm really ..

I live on a busy road. When I leave my home I wave at the front window to make it look like I'm saying bye to someone but there's no one home. I think I'm trying to deter possibly burglars from thinking no one is home.

I'm sure I'm tricking no one 😆

When I'm taking my time washing or drying my hands in a public loo, I'm really waiting for someone to come in the main door so I can hook my foot or elbow on the door to exit so I don't have to touch the handle.

When I'm on a phone call in my garden it's because I don't want to speak to my neighbour who monopolises the conversation and will talk for an hour about her dog. I'm not on a call but talking to myself. Sometimes i laugh whilst on "the call".

My husband thinks I've lost it.

I have a few more....

Are there things you do that you're covering for other things?

I'm always on my phone when I walk back to the house and the neighbours are outside..weird how people always call me then 🙃

Since I was a child, I've snapped chocolate bars, poked cakes, squashed packets of biscuits & crisps in supermarkets. I don't do it regularly, but when the urge happens, I just can't stop myself. It's like a compulsion Grin

Awful and pathetic - just imagining the hard up pensioner/mum/kids etc getting home and finding broken biscuits, smashed crisps and finger holes in a cake.
Your flippant replies to other pp suggests pride in your ‘work’ - I repeat awful and pathetic.
Awaiting flippant reply but I’ve made my mind up about you so don’t trouble yourself.

You mean daft apeth?

ha'p'orth

Halfpenny worth.

When my mum was alive and we used a disabled bay when parking I would sometimes have to take shopping back to the car and would limp if she wasn’t with me!😂

I should mention. I only do it when no tissue or sleeve available

You’re in a loo- use loo roll!!

It is very odd & maybe it'll help you control yourself to think about someone opening the biscuits or crisps to find crumbs and not the whole things they expected when they bought them and were looking forward to eating or buying for guests coming.

Yes. I can understand the compulsion (OCD?) but they acted on it and did it more than once, to something they presumably didn’t buy! It’s the equivalent of ppl wiping snot onto items in a shop bc they don’t want it on their fingers, or leaving gross things when trying on clothes or in library books, or pulling off the decoration of a fancy hat which renders it un-sellable and spoils it for the person buying it or giving it to someone else - another reminder that other ppl can be grim and not give a shit about others

GameOfJones · 03/11/2024 08:14

I also agree. I was quite surprised they admitted that in a "haha aren't I daft?" way when it's actually really mean spirited.

They either ruin a treat for someone else or the stock has to be binned which is senseless waste. Fucking stop it.

Just seen this - totally agree

Sometimes I put the 'next customer' bar on the supermarket conveyor belt the long way round, I know it makes some people itch.

If / when we have a heatwave I give cans of pop to delivery drivers and the bin men. The bin men have been known to get alcohol free beer.

That's really nice! I'm sure they appreciate it. 😊

Isn’t the sleeve then contaminated? Your hands can easily be cleaned again, but the top is harbouring the germs until goes in the washing machine

Thank you! My partner does this and it grosses me out, then I try to forget about it, whereas I am always at the ready with a bottle of hand sanitiser - then you can forget about it! 😂

Sceptical123 · 05/11/2024 07:44

Itiswhysofew · 03/11/2024 12:15

As I said, I don't ruin them.

Eh?

But if you use your sleeve all the germs will be on your clothes! Better to use a finger at top and then hand sanitiser!

RavenhairedRachel · 05/11/2024 16:20

I can really relate I do the same thing I wave and sometimes shout bye see you later. The phone thing I also do , if I'm out walking and I see someone I know and I don't want to talk to or haven't got time to talk to out comes the mobile phone and when they pass I nod or say Hi as I'm deep in conversation 🤣

When it is at home it is usually a daft one.

You are going to say you don't know what morngy is next aren't you?

My brother was always a maungy apeth as a child. Still.is to be honest

I love this thread. I have found my tribe.

Me too!! I can’t touch doorhandles anywhere in public so find that really difficult! I either resort to using tissue or waiting for someone to come out so I can hook the door with my foot or if I really have to I hook it with my little finger! I also often pretend to be on the phone when I’m not if I’m feeling particularly unsociable…..which is much of the time!! 🤣🤣 I also talk to the dogs and I’m leaving the house. When I put them in their room to say goodbye, I always tell Alfie that he’s in charge and they have to behave!! 🤣🤣

Washingupdone · 11/11/2024 00:39

Funkyslippers
I often forget where I've parked my car in the supermarket car park so in order to not look like that to other people I pretend I'm talking to someone on the phone & they're telling me where they're parked & I'm trying to find them (while desperately scanning the car park to find where the hell I left my car!)

I take a photo every time….. or use the app Waze.
