😂😂😂😂I would love that! I actually keep picturing my spoon tree and the more I picture it the more I’m determined to have one xx

Imbluedalale · 04/11/2024 19:45

Hi @Apolloneuro Ive been thinking about you today whilst I was sat waiting for my appointment. I hope you are feeling better than yesterday and I hope the penicillin start to work very soon xx

That is so nice Laura and what a beautiful person you are to care about me when you’re going through so much.

We see how special you are, darling.

Has anyone seen the Japanese Art of Kintsugi. The basically repair broken pots with gold to highlight the cracks but make it more beautiful. The philosophy being that nothing is beyond repair, thins can be given new life and even with cracks everything can just be made more beautiful. Our priest at church did a whole sermon on it on Sunday. Thought is very applicable to human life.

That’s lovely @Playgroundincident . I actually read a book that explained that recently. It was a fiction book called ‘a thousand broken pieces’ which was a follow on from another book I read. And the girl in it went to a grief workshop and the lady gave them all a bowl and told them to smash it and after she then said pick up all the pieces and glue them together. Everybody thought it was pointless but she explained that once it was glued together it was still a bowl it just had more character now and that things can always be fixed xx

Awww thank you ☺️
I do care about you and I was worried yesterday. I’m so pleased you have stronger medication. Oh I did have partially good news today , I can start weaning off my steroids more , before I was taking 15 a day and now I’m down to 6 aslong as my blood test from today comes back ok and my cortisol levels are ok. Hopefully soon my ‘moon face’ will go xx

Awww thank you @spoonfulofmustard that’s so lovely. Thank you for supporting me . There’s a lot of people worse off than me, going there today and every time I go really humbles you. Cancer is a horrible disease and what it does to people xx

I have never thought of that @Apolloneuro . I was thinking it was my anti depressants as I read that sertraline does affect your sleep and I’m on the highest dose . I don’t want to keep taking sleeping tablets so I’m not going to ask for anymore I don’t want to become reliant on them xx

I love the principle of kintsugi - that something you have to work to fix becomes MORE valuable. I think it’s a great principle in other areas (don’t get me started or I’ll bore you to tears 😂).

I’m really glad you can at least reduce some medications Laura - they do such awful things to your body, as much as they’re often essential for a time. ❤️

I know exactly what you mean by the moon face Laura, my dad used to have steroid injections a couple of times a week as his Asthma was so bad. It’s what kept him alive at the time and he had the moon face.
Hopefully reducing yours will improve your sleep.

Im glad about the medications too , I will be glad once I’m off steroids for good. Oh and when I got weighed today I have lost 8lbs since I last got weighed a month ago . I wouldn’t recommend this as a diet though! Xx

It’s not a nice side affect at all is it @AdmittowearingCrocs ? When I was in hospital they was giving me the highest dose through an IV. Well my appetite went through the roof!I was going through packets of biscuits and asking the nurses for sandwiches at 2am lol 😂. I’m sure the lady in the bed next to me thought ‘my that girl can eat’!xx

The Steroids will definitely stop you sleeping, as well as making the mind race!
But they must have been needed xx

Imbluedalale · 04/11/2024 20:45

So I’ve got some news ….
I wasn’t sure whether to share it as I don’t want to get my hopes up but I wanted to share with all of you supporting me and the power you all had last week with getting me to stay here .
Ive just checked my bids on housing from last week and it tells you how many people have bid (hundreds) and what your ‘shortlist possibility’ is. Well I’m number 1 on my first preference and number 2 on the other 2. Obviously they need to check my application and verify my details but I’m number 1! Which means that they have given me 1st priority out of everybody that has applied. It’s a 3 bedroom new build with a garden on a new estate . They could still decide to give it to somebody else but I’m the closest I’ve ever been on the priority list!xx

I’ve been on them a while @Munchyseeds2 , I started on them when I got colitis and then I got nerve damage so they continued them to help fight the damage the treatment had done xx

That is the BEST news 💯❤xxx

RaspberryBeretxx · 04/11/2024 20:54

Oh, so sorry that they noticed a change in your leg, Laura. I guess it's good that they're on it and have bumped up your appointment and hope it's OK news when that happens. At least you know to keep an eye on it.

It sounds very easy to muddle the appointments up! That's the kind of thing I'd do and at least you were where you needed and the ambulance took you to the right place.

Positive news about the steroid reduction, hope your sleep improves too.

Sorry you couldn't make it to Tesco but also glad you've got that for another day. Are you managing to get some OK food?

I love Kintsugi @Playgroundincident , so beautiful and such a lovely meaning.

Glad you've got some super duper penicillin @Apolloneuro , hope that does the trick quickly. Urine infections are horrific. I remember having to wee in bushes all over Dorset when I went on a weekend away with someone I was dating a few years ago as it was so painful if I didn't. Hideous!

Apolloneuro · 04/11/2024 20:55

Your news doesn’t surprise me. I didn’t say as I didn’t want to get your hopes up, but we told you that MPs had clout. Even if you don’t get this house, you’ll get something soon. Xxx

I still might not get it but I’m keeping everything crossed.
Thank you for being pleased for me xx

That is incredible news Laura, I am so happy. Trying not to get my hopes up too much but Here’s hoping it all works out for you and you get your new home. You may even be in for Christmas. Get the spoons ready girls 🥄 😁

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx
How are you?
Yes it is good they have noticed it , I was quite embarrassed that I hadn’t noticed and when I looked I thought ‘oh dear’. As bad as this sounds my cancer has taken a-bit of a back seat at the moment with everything else going on but it has made me realise I need to be more aware of what’s happening to my body and it’s given me a jump scare. In a way I’m glad the appointments were the other way round now because I was a bit disappointed I wasn’t seeing neurology as I wanted to try and get this paralysis looked at but it turned out for the best in the end. I think my oncologist was looking at me thinking why I didn’t seem too fussed but I was a bit numb tbh , it hit me when I left the seriousness of it .
My daughter fetched me some cup a soup yesterday and some ready salted crisps but I’ve not been eating very much last few days I’ve really lost my appetite.
You’re so right , urine infections are horrendous, I really feel for @Apolloneuro . I’m not sure what’s worse having a urine infection or piles! xx

I was thinking that @Apolloneuro I was wondering if my MP had anything to do with me being at number 1?They really do have clout don’t they. And then I was thinking maybe the council want rid of me and want to stop funding ‘the ritz’ so thought of best way to get me gone xx
