Hello and Good Morning Spoonies. I'm exhausted this morning after a day in the office yesterday. It's great to get out and see folks but have to do it all again tomorrow and I could happily stat WFH in my dressing gown for the rest of the week! I hope you are all having a good week and @Imbluedalale yes, your leaving the family home has been a blessing in disguise, you would likely be suffering much more severe stress symptoms had you stayed. I'm just glad you are still here fighting 😊

Apolloneuro · 13/11/2024 08:18

Morning!

What sort of work do you do @nornironlady?

I’m going into town today and am going to go in M&S and try the perfume!

nornironlady · 13/11/2024 09:51

Ah nice @Apolloneuro I do love a wee look round M&S. I got a few jumpers the other week, nice and chunky. How are you feeling this week? Well I hope.
I'm a Civil Servant so I've mostly worked on DWP side of things dabbling in a few different areas as it's not quite the same in NI. Always front line operations though I don't deal directly with customers and I don't have to manage any staff. It's really helps with home life and SEN child who is school avoidant. My job is boring but it's what I need to cope with everything else!

That’s nice @Playgroundincident!

They didn’t have the perfume, but I accidentally bought a green coat, to match my nails.

Thanks for asking about my health. Still need antibiotics, but feeling better, thanks.

Sorry to hear you child is finding school life challenging @nornironlady. I’m tutoring a pupil who has had come out of school.

Im like you I love my dressing gown but I will have to get a new one I might ask for one from Santa 😂
I hope your days going well.
Awww thank you so much , you know what I’m glad I’m still here too, I do have a lot of trauma to work through but I am going to take all the counselling I can get and hopefully one day I’ll be able to look at myself in mirror again xx

Good to hear you are feeling a bit better @Apolloneuro good on you for getting out and about when it can be easier to lie on the sofa/bed!

@Imbluedalale it's really just some stuffing wrapped in a slice of steak, it can be done with roast beef and they are called Beef Olives. We will have some potatoes and vegetables of some sort when I see what I have. I think I will have some pepper sauce instead of gravy, bit of a kick!

I think it was turkey , duck and pigeon if I remember rightly . I didn’t fancy that tbh . Ohhh I love abit of pepper sauce can’t beat it . It making me mouth water xx

@Imbluedalale yes I've seen those on cooking shows! Was that an interesting childhood growing up with parents running a Butcher shop? Are you a total carnivore 😂I hate dealing raw meat or even cutting a roast chicken but I enjoy the eating part! My stomach is rumbling here!

RaspberryBeretxx · 13/11/2024 16:17

I love that piano music, @Imbluedalale . So relaxing. I love pretty woman too.

I'm so sorry about the FND, but pleased that you now know what the issue is and I'm really glad you're going to get some intense counselling. They had a segment on FND on Jeremy Vine on R2 a few months ago that I listened to and it was interesting and also sad to hear that it is often not diagnosed or treated so I think it's positive that they've both diagnosed and referred you for counselling. I hope it will all improve in time, you've just been through so much it's no wonder that it's now showing physically.

That's just horrific that your ex burnt all your stuff. I'm so sorry. You'll be able to replace it with new things in time and you have a new home and new life to look forward to. You're really strong with your parents and letting bygones be bygones. It sounds like it will be positive for you if you can but I'm sorry they put you through that. I do like that your ex would be furious that you're back in touch! You're getting further and further from his control. Sending a big hug.

Massive well done with applying to the local assistance scheme and getting some white goods sorted! That's such amazing news.

@ChoccieCornflake thank you for the perfume update! They sound lovely 😍.

Show us a pic of your green coat @Apolloneuro . I love green! You'll definitely look the part at the cinema watching Wicked. Hope you can get some new ABs soon.

@Playgroundincident love the pic! That's brilliant 😄.

Sorry you're knackered @nornironlady . Hope you're having a restful work from home day.

I'm having a fairly dull work from home day today. Wishing the cat would start using the cat flap! It was installed a couple of months ago and we initially taped it open and she was fine. Then we took the magnet (that sticks it gently shut) out so it swings both ways really easily but she won't push it. I might go and put her out then feed her and rattle the bowl and see if that'll tempt her through.

😂😂😂😂😂I don’t eat meat everyday but I do like chicken and steak.
It was quite interesting really , I worked there from being 13 and I used to get £10 a day to start with . I remember Christmas week I worked 6 days so got £60 plus a £10 bonus and on way home I rang my mum from a phone box and when I got home I realised I’d left my purse in the phone box with my £70, went back and it wasn’t there. I was gutted as I really wanted to treat myself to a furby.
I worked on the cooked meat and cake counter , didn’t like touching the raw stuff especially the liver 🤢.
I remember there was this one old guy that always came in and wouldn’t let anyone else serve him and I felt sorry for him so if he asked for 3/4 slices of ham I used to give me about 8 slices and not charge him then he used to pay me with a £20 note and I used to give him about £22 back. Why did I do that? My mum was absolutely livid when she found out No wonder he used to always wait for me to serve him 🤣🤣x

@Imbluedalale Ah there must have been something about him that appealed to your good side. My mum used to work in a shop that sold pigs feet. So gross. She would bring one home for my grand every week.
@RaspberryBeretxx we need a catflap but our back doors are glass. The cat can push an inside door open when he wants to go lie down but if we are around he will cry at the door until we come and do it. Master and slave vibes 😂

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , sorry to hear your having a dull day . Do you work from home most days? Sorry but your cat being awkward has made me chuckle 😂
Oh I love pretty woman , when I was younger I really wanted that blue and white short dress she wore that had hoops in it . I’m glad now I wasn’t able to get one 😂
Yes it was a good appointment with my consultant re my FND she was telling me that some of her patients have witnessed a traumatic event and they get FND too and a lot of her patients are in the ambulance /police service which was interesting. It can be a side effect from your body going through a lot or your brain and in my case it was both . What worries me though is the not knowing when and if it will get better .
And you’re right about stuff , they are just material , photos aren’t but I can make many more photos. And when I eventually get new things they will be for my life life something ex will never see or touch so that’s good.
Do you know what’s really helping me about ex?Its that I haven’t had to see or speak to him since I left and on the few times I have faltered I just get my list out that I wrote on my phone of everything he has done and said and I soon come back to my senses . I’m so glad I wrote that list.
Received notification earlier about my white goods , fridge/freezer and washing machine coming on Tuesday and cooker on Thursday.
Can you believe that this time next week I’m going to be in my new home?xx

Well from past experience I don’t think I’m a very good judge of character 😂
We used to sell ox tongue 🤢. The smell was amazing upstairs though as the bakers used to come in and bake fresh bread and cakes , sausage rolls and pies . I loved that smell xx

I flipping love this thread and all of you on it - it's so uplifting!!

I'm absolutely starving now though - stuffed steak?! I need that in my life! All this talk of meat and butchers too - I'm thinking bacon sarnies, a big fry up breakfast, pigs in blankets - YUM!! Don't even get me started on the pies!

@Playgroundincident - that picture is fabulous!! One of the things I wish I could do is draw / paint / make pictures. I would have been a fabulous cave woman as I can do stick figures, but that's about my limit!

Well done @Imbluedalale on referring to your list and being so positive - honestly you are a masterclass in how to have a good mindset. You mentioned a while back calling your to do lists "wish lists", and I renamed mine yesterday and it actually makes such a difference! Thank you!!

AdmittowearingCrocs · 13/11/2024 18:32

Laura @Imbluedalale even more good news with your white goods being delivered. Yes, by this time next week you will be happy in your new new home. I am so excited for you 😀 💐

Hi ladies, just popping in to say hi, have been running a multi-day international team meeting at work this week and am both energised and exhausted. Just home so need to spend time with the children. Will catch up properly soon
