I flipping love this thread and all of you on it - it's so uplifting!!

I'm absolutely starving now though - stuffed steak?! I need that in my life! All this talk of meat and butchers too - I'm thinking bacon sarnies, a big fry up breakfast, pigs in blankets - YUM!! Don't even get me started on the pies!

@Playgroundincident - that picture is fabulous!! One of the things I wish I could do is draw / paint / make pictures. I would have been a fabulous cave woman as I can do stick figures, but that's about my limit!

Well done @Imbluedalale on referring to your list and being so positive - honestly you are a masterclass in how to have a good mindset. You mentioned a while back calling your to do lists "wish lists", and I renamed mine yesterday and it actually makes such a difference! Thank you!!

Hi @ChoccieCornflake How are you? Good I hope.
I love everybody on this thread too, all you spoonies are absolutely amazing and meeting you all on here is one of the most positive amazing experience I’ve ever had . Your all AMAZING!
lol 😂 I know what you mean all this talk of food, I could murder a fry up or a roast dinner or steak, garlic potatoes and veg. Yummy
Im actually sat in the pizza restaurant again just to get out of the room and to use their wi fi 😂because my signal in hotel keeps going even though I have data on my phone . And whilst I’m sat here I’m debating whether to get a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and strawberries or a snickers sundae . My tummy is currently trying to convince my brain.

The picture that @Playgroundincident made is brilliant isn’t it , I love it . That’s talent right there .

Oh yes I think calling them ‘wish lists’ change your mindset so much but actually I cannot wait to do housework again I’m looking forward to washing clothes and mopping and hoovering I cannot wait.
I’m so glad you also find it helps.

Any perfume updates today?

Oh I forgot to mention I was having a shower late last night after washing my knickers and hanging them to dry on the drying rack and I accidentally pulled the red sting thing in the bathroom not realising it was an alarm . Whole hotel starting blaring out this alarm and loads of hotel workers ran into my room and I was stood there wrapped in a towel with knickers hung all over (big bucket knickers) . So embarrassing 😳 xx

Hi @AdmittowearingCrocs , I know it’s brilliant news isn’t it . I can’t wait to sit and watch the washing machine spin around in my own home .
This time next week I’ll be on here speaking to you all from my new home. Can you believe it?xx

Hi @Munchyseeds2 , how are you and how’s your day been?
I decided against having a pudding the £8.95 price tag put me off I can’t justify spending that on a pudding right now when I can probably get a nice picture frame with that so instead I’ve had 3 Jamie dodgers and a cup of tea 😂
Oh it was mortifying I honestly didn’t know what to do I must have woke the whole hotel up , I mean who has an alarm that loud?Im just thankful I had a towel on otherwise I would have scarred the hotel workers for life. It was my hanging knickers I was more mortified about!
I’m so glad you have enjoyed being part of this thread but I hope you stay on it for the future, I need my spoonies forever now 😂
From tomorrow it will be 5 days until move in day .

Omg I have just received a phone call from my mum and she said that she was putting me on speaker so my dad could hear . She then said that they have both been out today and bought me a king size bed with mattress and headboard for me and the same in a double for daughter and next week they are going to buy me a single for son!And they’ve also got me all bedding and quilts/pillows .
Omg can you believe it? xx

That's great news about the beds Laura - do you think it is their way of doing something to make up for what happened before? I can't put out of my mind how they knew you were homeless and just said - what was it? Oh dear or something? It is the sort of thing my parents would have done for me if they knew I needed a bed/beds - and as it happens just the other month I bought a new bed for my son (who is in his 30s) because, well, it's the sort of thing Mums (and Dads) do, even when their children are grown up.

Imagine, this time next week you will be snoozeling in your own bed!

(Also happy that my Christmas tree decoration spoon has arrived. It's in the drawer waiting for when the tree comes out of the loft.)

Munchyseeds2 · 13/11/2024 21:49

Oh that's the best news!!
I was worried about you sleeping on a blow up bed...❤
I'm good thanks, one more day at work tomorrow then off til next week... going to a bit of a Christmas stall thing on sun so might finally start buying some presents

I'm watching 'cause of death' on ch5, I think I would have liked working as a coroners assistant doing the investigations

Apolloneuro · 13/11/2024 21:56

Oh I’m so pleased. I think they feel a bit guilty for letting you down a bit. How generous of them. You can’t beat having a nice bed to sleep in.

I went to M&S with a very stylish friend and she is a bad influence. I saw the coat and she said ‘that will look lovely on you’. I said I’m trying it on and if it fits I’m buying it. I put it on and a lady passing by said ‘that looks lovely and the colour matches your eyes.’ 👀 So what could I do?😂

I rarely buy nice clothes as I am quite chubby and never think things look nice on me. I’ll go without a takeaway with strictly on Saturday to make the money up a bit.

Apolloneuro · 13/11/2024 21:58

This is it. The colour is much nicer in real life.

Need a hand hold part 2
Munchyseeds2 · 13/11/2024 22:03

@Apolloneuro it's an investment ( as well as being a fabulous colour!)

ChoccieCornflake · 13/11/2024 22:04

Oh that is wonderful news about your parents! Maybe they are just the kind of people who do care underneath, but are dreadful with words?

By the way @Imbluedalale , your last post had your son's name in - you might want to edit (although great name!)

I'm sorry - I laughed too at the red cord and the alarm! I'm sure they will have seen worse than pants drying though - I'm sure I read somewhere about hotel workers finding people boiling their underwear in the kettles?! When I was in a halls of residence, donkey's years ago, every time the alarm went off, if was always at night, and there were always people stood around in various states of nightwear / undress!

That coat is fabulous @Apolloneuro !!

ChoccieCornflake · 13/11/2024 22:05

Hi @kittylion2 How are you? It’s so lovely to hear from you. How’s your week been so far?
Yes I really do think they are trying to make up for a lot of stuff , I don’t think they realised how bad it was re the DV side of things not how awful ex could really be . I think it’s upset them a bit what I told them the other day. My mum said she wants us to get close again and they both said all they want is for me to get better and to be happy.
Yes when I told my mum I was going to be homeless she replied ‘awww no’ and that was it, yes it hurt deeply and still does to an extent but it’s a fresh start so I can’t hold grudges and in order to be able to move on then I need to not forget what happened or what was said but forgive it .
Oh I know it doesn’t seem real knowing that this time next week I’ll not be in a hotel room . It feels like I’m in a dream. And I’ll have an actual fridge and cooker and washing machine I’m soooo excited .
Ohhh I bet your spoon decoration is lovely, do you have a pic of it?xx

Thank you @Munchyseeds2 , it’s brilliant news isn’t it . I can’t wait to get all warm and cosy in it . Awww you shouldn’t worry about me I would have been fine on a blow up bed for a while 😂
Awww I absolutely love Christmas stalls especially ones where they do Christmas decorations or wax melts /candles . Omg I can have a candle on next week and get a lovely smell in my home . Eeekkkkk
I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping normally I’ve got loads by now but this year will just have to be a little different . Just buying a few bits for the children this year and that’s it . Normally I buy for everyone inc teachers and neighbours but I just can’t do it this year .
Oh that sounds interesting I’m going to put it on. Before I got poorly last year after finishing at the bank I was working for a few months at a stonemasons which was quite interesting. Three sisters came in one day to arrange for their mothers headstone and they fetched a letter that their mother had written on a piece of paper days before she passed away that said ‘I love you girls’ and they asked if it was possible we could match the handwriting onto the headstone. Anyway the incredible stonemasons actually scanned the letter onto their machines and made a duplicate with the exact handwriting and put it in a surprise place on the headstone. When the sisters came to view it they sobbed and sobbed and couldn’t believe how good it looked . That’s a lovely memory xx

Hi @ChoccieCornflake , Thank you for letting me know about the name in not sure how to edit my posts?Im such a dimwit !
I think they do care deep inside and I think without ex trying to ruin our relationship and saying stuff to them but different stuff to me I think it will be better. Well I hope it is but if it’s not then at least now I know I can do this on my own (with you guys of course)
I read your post so wrong I thought it said when you woke up there was donkeys in the halls of residence. I’ve now got a mental image of donkeys walking down a hallway at university 🤣🤣🤣
When I was at the crisis house I couldn’t sleep one night so was sat in kitchen eating a tea cake and the counsellor came to sit with me . I asked him what was the craziest thing you’ve seen whilst you’ve been here and he said there was this lady that came and she was very quiet and hardly talked and one night he walked into the kitchen and she was naked with her legs spread drying her pubic hair on the radiator . 😂😂Sorry you shouldn’t laugh but I couldn’t help it xx

I wonder if the donkeys in the hall of residence were wearing pink trainers? 😂

Isn’t that how everyone dries their lady garden? 🪴

I have a bit of a funny thing about coats. When I was five, I was in a shop with my mum getting a new coat. They put on a lovely coat, with a furry lining.

When my mum tried to pay with a government clothing voucher she had (we were poor) they took the coat off me and put a thin, unlined coat on me. My poor mum.

Now I never feel like I deserve nice coats. Even today I said to my husband “If you don’t like it or think I shouldn’t have bought it, I’ll take it back.”

I’d be very disappointed if they wasn’t wearing pink converse 😂😂In fact if Noah ever made an ark again I’d want to see all the animals in pink converse 😂preferably running .
Pmsl 🤣 I don’t pay my lady garden that much attention tbh all I was thinking when he said it was ‘surely that would burn’🤣
Awww my heart , they should have let you have the furry coat! And you definitely deserve nice coats and I’m so glad you bought it because it is lovely especially with the green nails xx

It's probably too late for you to edit your post now, but I think you can report your own post and ask them to redact your son's name. About my spoon decoration - wouldn't it be great if this thread was still going in December and we could post photos of our Christmas spoons on our trees! In the meantime I will see if I can dig it out tomorrow and take a photo of it.

Five more sleeps!!

Good Morning Spoonies! @Imbluedalale I am so pleased to hear the news about your parents. A huge step in the right direction. A few less things to worry about too. So a sofa is the next priority!!
@Apolloneuro beautiful coat. Very smart. I totally get what you are saying about the past affecting our present day choices. We didn't have much growing up so I'm the opposite in that I like nice clothes and a good coat. For the odd days I get dressed. Wear and enjoy your coat.
@kittylion2 that's the first thing I will do when I get the tree out. I got a snowflake ornament made from an old spoon!
Or we could do a la Laura and hang our knickers from the ceiling 😂
Have a great day everyone, I'm just getting up to get ready for the office.
