How many baths a week is excessive?

I like to have 2 one at the weekend and one mid week. Is that excessive? I had a week where I was having them every day as my legs ached so much and my DH told me that was too much. He's making noises again as I was thinking of having one tomorrow so that will be 3.

30 is excessive

mynameiscalypso · 19/09/2024 20:17

I have a bath every night unless I'm out. DH doesn't get a say in it. Is your DH controlling in other ways?

If you can't afford it, possibly it's too much but otherwise no. I often have one a day - sometimes two. It's one of the few things that helps with chronic pain for me.

Choosingmiddleschool · 19/09/2024 20:18

15

HansHolbein · 19/09/2024 20:18

Eh? You should be washing every day regardless.

LLamddra · 19/09/2024 20:18

I used to have two a day - so you’re fine.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 19/09/2024 20:18

Anything over 28 is excessive.

This.

Are you on the bones of your arse?

If not, 14 or you are too pruned.

Edenmum2 · 19/09/2024 20:19

Depends...is your water bill more than you can afford?

DeliciousApples · 19/09/2024 20:19

If you mean soaking in the tub with some salts or something beneficial I'd suggest a couple of times a week.

If you mean how often to wash, I'd say daily, be it a bath or shower.

Pebbles16 · 19/09/2024 20:19

You have as many baths as you need. I don't like baths, so you can have mine from an ecological POV

Mummabear90hair · 19/09/2024 20:19

Twice a day would be excessive. I assume though you still shower on other days?

EchoFallz · 19/09/2024 20:20

im 2 a day

WickWood · 19/09/2024 20:20

I have one a day, always have, never thought that was excessive! I'm currently on maternity leave (prebaby being born) and sometimes have two baths a day if I fancy! Have another bath!

NeverEnoughPants · 19/09/2024 20:21

I've definitely been known to have three (maybe more) in a week. I don't think it's excessive at all. Tell your husband that your wellbeing is more important than your water bill.

thistimelastweek · 19/09/2024 20:22

It depends.
3 baths a week are excessive if you are having 20 showers a week.
If bathing is the only time you fully wash, three times a week is far from excessive.

AdoraBell · 19/09/2024 20:22

I would have a bath once or twice depending on stress levels. Right now we can’t afford to fill the bath so I have one long-ish shower per week. The rest of the time just a quick shower unless I really CBA.

WickWood · 19/09/2024 20:22

Why are you even telling him you're fancying a bath tomorrow? Why is that even a conversation? If you want a bath, have a bath!

poila · 19/09/2024 20:22

I bath at least once a day, every morning but occasionally an evening one too, it helps with my pain and I just enjoy them.

soupfiend · 19/09/2024 20:23

@mynameiscalypso

You ask that question as if it is fact that he is controlling in this matter?

'have you stopped beating your wife'

OP has simply said, that he said its 'too much'

We dont know the context of that

Is he saying, its too much because your skin wont like it, its not advised, its not thought to be good for the body (as many people on this forum believe)

Is he saying its too much because its costing them money that they dont have

Or is he saying its too much because he is in fact being controlling of what OP does in the bathroom.

A question like 'is he controlling in other ways' is 'have you stopped beating your wife'

AlisonDonut · 19/09/2024 20:23

I have one every night, otherwise I don't sleep.

Mummabear90hair · 19/09/2024 20:23

Just seen it was for leg pain. Do you add Epsom salts? They can really help! Baths have a therapeutic benefit for you though, so if DH has such an issue then perhaps he would prefer to offer you a leg massage?

BurbageBrook · 19/09/2024 20:23

What a total twat you're married to. Wow. I have a long bath (at least 30-40 minutes) every night unless it's summer and hot when I switch to showers.
