To be incensed that a man cost council tax payers £63,000 for insisting he had a gender fluid Daschund?

TorghunKhan · 17/09/2024 18:05

£63,000 could have paid for an awful lot of things for the poorest families in Cambridgeshire, instead, thousands of hours and a huge pile of cash has been paid out because of some dickhead, virtue signalling in a meeting

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/gender-neutral-daschund-social-worker-wins-63-000-discrimination-payout/

This brave woman did what we all need to do, stood up, called bullshit on something patently absurd, and instead of supporting her, her bosses called her "nasty" and excluded HER from meetings! She's a social worker!

WTF is going on? Is it the backwards decade where we all do the opposite of what's sensible?

That's how I read it. In the paper attached to the post. It's pretty clear to me anyway.
If you read it differently - Different perspectives.
The LA wastes millions every day, this is just a drop in the ocean let me tell you.

I’m sure that is how you read it I’m just not sure how anything mentioned could in any way be conceived as transphobia.
genuinely interested in why

It doesn’t, but it’s perfectly possible for the two to co-exist - she could be completely right about the GNC dog and also, separately, very difficult to work with (and to be clear it is equally possible she is lovely and this was pure lesbophobia, which is more common than you’d imagine).

Either way, the council obviously fucked up managing her out on such ridiculous grounds. Which makes me think that the “outspokenness” obviously didn’t cross any other lines, they just wanted rid of her.

GNC dog? Gender non-conforming?

What is a gender non-conforming dog?

I'm asking because you appear to have typed that as if it is a thing, a completely normal thing, without actually questioning who is dressing and labelling the dog.

It just goes to show how insidious gender ideology is.

The dog did not choose to dress itself in a tutu or a tiara.

I read it as the comments weren't specifically about the dog per se, more transphobic & that wasn't appropriate in a formal meeting.

Is a trans identifying sausage dog in a tutu appropriate for a formal meeting?

Why does believing in the reality of sex make a woman nasty and outspoken? The reality is that women are being subjected to gaslighting by being forced/coerced into thinking that men change sex.

This. The throwing about of 'transphobic' and 'bigot' because you don't believe in being able to change sex needs to stop. Look at what happened in the deleted thread.

People can believe what they want but no one gets to compel anyone else into a belief system or someone's pseudo reality. We don't entertain believing someone identifies as a different age or race but changing sex is somehow ok?

Doesn't happen with religion so I'm not sure why if you fail to believe humans can change sex, or correctly sex someone, you are fair game to insult and criticise. Respect seems to be demanded only one way.

Gender ideology impacts negatively on women's rights to sex based spaces and fairness in sports. It's getting ridiculous that no one can state what is basically fact.

No, I’ve typed it because that’s the subject of the thread, and it’s really long to type it out in full 🙄

A 'formal meeting' featuring a dressed-up dachshund? Confused

TriesNotToBeCynical · 18/09/2024 10:50

Those of us who were around in the 60s and 70s recognise trans women as having (or planning) surgery to castrate them and modify their genitalia and hormones to develop female secondary sexual characteristics. And many of us thought they were disturbed individuals who warranted a lot of consideration, though not necessarily the right to qualify as women for all purposes. For instance in sport women with abnormal hormone levels (intrinsic or extrinsic) were excluded from top level sports, despite this being devastating for some intersex individuals and some otherwise typical women.

I really did not understand until recently that perfectly physically and hormonally normal men were entitled to label themselves as women, and allowed to live as women for most purposes including identity documentation.

People are entitled to think this wrong. "Transphobia" would be calling for violence or intimidation against them. Wanting to limit the purposes for which they are allowed to call themselves women seems a perfectly legitimate opinion to me, even if others don't agree. Though at work people clearly have to act in accordance with the law whether they agree with it or not; or else get another job. Outside work they are entitled to want the law changed.

And allowing official work meetings to discuss these issues seems ill-advised, trying to censor what may be said doubly so.

It wasn’t my post so I don’t think I can.

crosstalk · 18/09/2024 11:16

@BunfightBetty There used to be a body that monitored councils on spending. Unfortunately, the Conservatives removed the teeth of that body. Hence also the scandals involving several councils making hugely bad investments and going broke.

SouthernComfortable · 18/09/2024 11:47

Ah yes, "women know your place". Mustn't speak out about facts and evidence, some people might find it distressing...
And above all don't do it in a confident manner and laugh at the gentleman bloke.

Well said. It’s insanity, people suffer, literally kids are dying in and around social services care, but here they are wasting hundreds of thousands of pounds to insist that a man in a dress is actually a woman

authoritarianism at its finest

I heard about this before, but I still want to know how the conversation actually went.
Man- 'my dog is gender-fluid'
Woman- 'well, it's a dog. Dogs don't really have a 'gender'. I'd say they simply identify as a dog.'
Man- 'Right, that's it. You're sacked for gross misconduct. With immediate effect. You disgusting transphobe!'

From reading the court documents, it looks like that basically is what happened. The horrible transphobe said a male dog is a male dog whatever clothes it wears, and also that males don't belong in women's single sex spaces or sports.

This left the other members of the LGBTQIA+ group shaking and traumatised, so they all wrote statements on her wrongthink and sent them to HR. Inclusion man also suggested she was likely to use her nasty facts in her work, enacting more symbolic violence - what an evil possibility. Lizzy Pitt was put on a disciplinary for having opinions based on facts and science, and banned from the LGBTQIA+ group.

So she took them to court for harrassment and discrimination, and the council went right up to the morning of the court hearing before admitting liability. Lizzy Pitt had to crowdfund for legal fees to prepare the case, while the council of course used tax payers money for their legal costs in fighting for the right to shut up lesbians saying true stuff.

As I've seen said elsewhere, nothing says 'inclusion' (dog owner is vicechair of the equality diversity and inclusion panel) like banning a lesbian from saying things which she backed up with evidence.

Beekeepingmum · 18/09/2024 13:11

Gender is a human term. Dogs don't have gender they are male or female. Any thing else is anthropomorphizing bull shit.

BobbyBiscuits · 18/09/2024 13:13

@nothingcomestonothing Gawd. It's absolutely crazy isn't it! Such a monumental waste of taxpayer money and everyone's time. Social workers bickering about canine transvestism when they should be saving children's lives!

This item made The Times yesterday. Is there a daily paper for the Cambridge area? be interesting to read how it is reported locally.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/09/2024 14:56

Asked whether she believed the LGBT+ group was an “appropriate place” to express such opinions, she replied: “What was the group for, if it was not for that type of discussion?”

And why if Dachshund Dave felt he could point to his dog in a tutu to "provoke debate" wasn't a debate considered a reasonable thing to occur? What sort of "debate" did he want?

Ap-paw-ling waste of funds. I did wonder if the costs included a Lab report to check the dog's sex.
