To be incensed that a man cost council tax payers £63,000 for insisting he had a gender fluid Daschund?

TorghunKhan · 17/09/2024 18:05

£63,000 could have paid for an awful lot of things for the poorest families in Cambridgeshire, instead, thousands of hours and a huge pile of cash has been paid out because of some dickhead, virtue signalling in a meeting

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/gender-neutral-daschund-social-worker-wins-63-000-discrimination-payout/

This brave woman did what we all need to do, stood up, called bullshit on something patently absurd, and instead of supporting her, her bosses called her "nasty" and excluded HER from meetings! She's a social worker!

WTF is going on? Is it the backwards decade where we all do the opposite of what's sensible?

A social worker has won a £63,000 payout over discriminating comments made about colleague’s ‘gender neutral’ daschund.

That's a good point. What would that social worker do, if he was working with a child whose parents want to follow the evidence of the Cass review and use therapy and support instead of drugs and surgery? If he thinks facts and data are symbolic violence and he can't sleep because someone says his dog isn't trans?

“expect to be challenged on your prejudices.”

no doubt….

It's Cambridgeshire County Council. I think they and Cambridge City have form for being weird like this.
One cut working hours to a 4 day week, same salary.

It's South Cambridgeshire with a four day week, different council.

He's a young people's social worker, and chair of the equality, diversity and inclusion panel. I can imagine how very equal, diverse and inclusive it is. It'd be a joke except it's so serious, the havoc this ideology causes.

And it'd be a cold day in hell before that bellend got near any young person I'm in charge of, with his sexist homophobic gender wank.

They’re still in a job. Still working with people. Madness

And I believe the HR person who wanted Lizzy Pitt to prioritise her colleagues 'lived experience' over facts and data has since been promoted Hmm

It is South Cambs who cut down to a 4 day working week. Cambridge County Council never would not agree to a four-day week.

Hatfullofwillow · 18/09/2024 08:45

nothingcomestonothing · 18/09/2024 07:30

The 4 day week is South Cambridgeshire District council, this was Cambridge County council, different council.

Which is the one that did the 4 day week. Which is what the pp referred to.

Terrifying. All because of poor direction from the people in charge.

we literally lie. On forms to doctors to the census for gods sake - it will make the wheels of everything come off

Of course, the papers have reduced the situation to absurdity, because that's what papers do. The real issue is the woman who has a history of being outspoken and, from the sound of it, really quite nasty to her colleagues.
I suspect the council gave in because they realised they'd mismanaged the situation in allowing things to get this far.

NewGreenDuck · 18/09/2024 09:04

Why does believing in the reality of sex make a woman nasty and outspoken? The reality is that women are being subjected to gaslighting by being forced/coerced into thinking that men change sex.

Naunet · 18/09/2024 09:06

What an utterly ridiculous man, and shame on the council for indulging this and helping to wasting tax payers money.

No, that’s not the real issue, the real issue is indulging madness at cost to the tax payer. Why should we care if a woman is outspoken? Is she not performing her gender role correctly?

Ah yes, "women know your place". Mustn't speak out about facts and evidence, some people might find it distressing...

Women should shut up and know our places.

Said by every misogynist on the planet.

This is how insidious this ideology is.

Child safeguarding and best practice out of the window because some men might get hurty feelings.

Honestly think all the staff who don’t believe in this nonsense should bring a collective grievance. The Whistleblowing laws are there to protect them if they are punished for highlighting safeguarding issues.

She was a lesbian at an employee group meeting. The views she expressed were complained about. I have very mixed feelings about political lobby groups at work. Obviously not party-political but we do seem to have campaigning/pressure groups within organisations who then seek to limit what opinions are acceptable. Surely these types of groups should be outside work.

Asked whether she believed the LGBT+ group was an “appropriate place” to express such opinions, she replied: “What was the group for, if it was not for that type of discussion?”

Because this is the world we have sleep walked into.

this isn’t some weird one off.

this happens every day in offices across the country.

in offices your tax is paying for.

we are the ones who have to stand up and say no

I read it as the comments weren't specifically about the dog per se, more transphobic & that wasn't appropriate in a formal meeting.

Absolutely fucking shameful.

calling a man in a dress or even a dog in a dress - male - isn’t nasty or shameful or wrong.

it’s just TRUE

It doesn’t, but it’s perfectly possible for the two to co-exist - she could be completely right about the GNC dog and also, separately, very difficult to work with (and to be clear it is equally possible she is lovely and this was pure lesbophobia, which is more common than you’d imagine).

Either way, the council obviously fucked up managing her out on such ridiculous grounds. Which makes me think that the “outspokenness” obviously didn’t cross any other lines, they just wanted rid of her.

I have total respect for other people's sexual orientation/religious beliefs/ people identifying at whatever they want. BUT;
Is it too much to ask that people who are paid to do a job just do it. They can dress as they like in their own time.
That councils , NHS etc stop wasting our money.

That children do not dress as animals at school but get on with their learning. What parents allow at home is their business. Most children and parents adhere to school uniforms rules .They just want their children educated .
That people are polite in public spaces and treat each other with respect. Stop smoking weed and playing " music" on buses . If you can't respect others.at least respect yourself and stop loudly haranguing your mum on the phone ,asking her for money ! Yes,we all know you agree you already owe her but just need a bit more! And swearing loudly when she has said no. Why do we tolerate such nasty, self centred ,pathetic behaviour. People quick to bleat about their rights but avoid any responsibilities.

what ever has gone wrong in this country .

That man isn't fit to own a dog ,never mind work with vulnerable people. Special needs education and social care are in tatters and councils are wasting money like this .

Define transphobia?

I believe she said that men who identify as women shouldn’t be in women’s sport.

Most decent people would agree with that.
