Men with boats cheat

Boatsandcoats · 15/09/2024 21:54

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

If you live near water then you’ll know lots of boat owners. I do and can hand on heart say that none of them are cheating. They have lovely cruisers that you can spend a weekend or so sailing in and have a lovely time. My son sails most weekends. It’s natural when you live on the coast.

theboywantstogoupthefield · 16/09/2024 08:24

I don't know anyone with a boat.

Thisbastardcomputer · 16/09/2024 08:32

We used to have a boat and at the marina there was a certain amount of, shall I say, sexually loose types, all had flashy power boats.

brunettemic · 16/09/2024 08:33

My DH has his own car, I can now only assume it’s for cheating.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 16/09/2024 08:35

I have never given this a second's thought.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2024 08:36

There's boats and boats, aren't there.
The ones that are most fun to sail, imo, are the ones liable to capsize. And the only type that'd be comfortable to shag on would be something like a Dart but you'd need to be very exhibitionist and obviously not wearing a harness.Grin

Unicycles. Stands to reason

SpiderPlanter · 16/09/2024 08:40

I live in a coastal town. Lots of people have boats for a variety of reasons, mostly because they’re fishing all hours to pay the bills. Sometimes it’s for other reasons, like taxi-ing themselves or sometimes it’s for fun.

This is complete and utter batshit. God knows what circles you mix in.

WalkingThroughTreacle · 16/09/2024 08:46

Has anyone posted NAMWBALT yet?

YellowComb · 16/09/2024 08:47

My husband seems to spend a lot of time in Tesco. There's a woman on the till. Should I be worried?

Check in his wallet. If he has a disloyalty card start getting your ducks in a row.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 16/09/2024 08:51

When the boat-owning cheaters take a breather on deck, are they admiring dolphins and taking life lessons from them, OP?

dreamer24 · 16/09/2024 08:52

wtf 🤣

ClairDeLaLune · 16/09/2024 08:53

If I knew a bloke with a luxury yacht I would totally shag him on said yacht. Boats are really sexy imo.

BiscuitTins · 16/09/2024 08:53

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2024 00:17

That'd foil their attempts.Grin

🤣🤣🤣

SallyWD · 16/09/2024 08:59

Weird

Onwardsandsidewaysyetagain · 16/09/2024 08:59

All the people I know with ordinary boats are nice family men! Perhaps you are thinking of super-yachts, OP?

Pickingmyselfup · 16/09/2024 09:00

What kind of boats are we talking here? Is there like a hierarchy of more likely and less likely depending on what kind of boat you have? Do you have to have sex on the boat or does it apply to Bob down the road with a kayak who is having his shenanigans on land as opposed to David who has a luxury yacht and a full sized bed below deck?

I don't know anyone with a boat, I couldn't be more further away from the sea if I tried. I do live near a canal though and run along it a lot. I shall be giving everyone I see a suspicious glance as I run past especially any man who smiles or waves at me, women too for that matter, cant be too careful with those who mess around on boats!

Panama2 · 16/09/2024 09:00

We do have a boat, we go out together on it. It is moored in a secure marina next to lots of other boats so all coming and goings are monitored.

An earlier poster said that it is possible that men with boats are, loaded, confident and agile my husband fails on all three points 😂

1dayatatime · 16/09/2024 09:01

My friend's husband has a canoe.

Is he at the same risk of cheating or given it's technically not a boat is he say more likely to be having an emotional affair?

CurlewKate · 16/09/2024 09:01

I live on a boat. Does that mean dp and I are both having affairs?

Peoplecoveredinfish · 16/09/2024 09:01

OhmygodDont · 16/09/2024 07:59

Only if his online profile pictures are also holding a fish eugh. Every man who does that seems to be slime ball.

Came here to say that. Automatic swipe right. Why? Why do people fish? What’s. The. Point?!

It’s not that though - I dated a very nice guy who fished. But he didn’t think that all the girls would come running over picture of him and holding a slowly suffocating slimy cichlid. It’s that. They somehow think it’s an irresistible show of prowess. Or something.

I don’t know any people with boats. But allotment sheds and campers have definitely been a thing. (For me because of teens at home. I don’t know about anyone else!)

butterpuffed · 16/09/2024 09:02

My DH has been building a boat made with Lego . It's almost as large as a normal boat and he's always said that he's doing it to get into the Guinness World Records , but after reading this thread I have my doubts ..😨😭😢

Silkinside · 16/09/2024 09:02

DadJoke · 15/09/2024 21:56

You can trust men with allotments, lock-up garages or caravans, either.

Ha! I had a male colleague who was convinced one of the school mums fancied him as she kept on telling him about her caravan...
