Men with boats cheat

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

All my friends have boats. They’re all swingers so I think you’re on to something. One couple has four boats, god knows what they get up to.

Rum, sodomy and the lash takes at least four people, to run concurrently.

The one person I know with a boat hasn't cheated so yabu 9n that sample.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 16/09/2024 09:12

What?!

My dad used to have a boat and I can tell you there were no shenanigans. My mother's only stipulation was that she would never be required to crew because the smell of wet ropes, outboard motor, sails and sail bags, and that wood and varnish they always use in cabins made her want to vomit before we even left the harbour. Also the cooking gas has a smell, the lifejackets have a certain smell...I didn't find these smells sickening but I can't imagine anyone finding any of this erotic.

Do little remote control ones count?

Little remote controlled men are the worst for this kind of thing.

Runki · 16/09/2024 09:19

I live a stone's throw from a river , where dozens of boats are moored. I must admit that I have had to install sound proofing in my walls to protect my innocent children's ears from the constant sound of grunting, moaning and calls of "Yes, yes, take me out to sea, Captain", and "Oooh baby, climb my rigging", and "Keep going til you splice my main brace, YES, YES, give it to me Sailor!" It's relentless.

I’ve heard it all now.

Paints Captain Birdseye in a new light!

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 16/09/2024 09:22

My dad used to have a little sail boat back in the day, can't imagine any rational person wanting to cheat on that! It was bloody uncomfortable just sitting in it for an afternoon as a kid let alone doing anything more energetic!

Or perhaps you are not great at the shopping and they want tk mak3 sure they don't end up witb own brand pringles and sub par malbec!

Nothing worse than a sub par malbec 😄(mine has started having the shopping delivered instead of going himself so the OW must have dumped him).

I think cheaters are going to cheat and don't need to spend hundreds of thousands on a boat to do so.

I know a couple of boat owners and they don't strike me as the type, they go out and fish, dive and look at dolphins.

My husband has a kayak and if he managed to cheat in that I'd honestly be more impressed than angry.

The kayak 👏👏👏👏

I live on a boat. Does that mean dp and I are both having affairs?

The op did exclude boat-dwellers so it's optional Grin

Those innuendos don't really work on a river 🤔

I only know one man with a boat but, in his case, your theory checks out 🤣

FatLarrysBanned · 16/09/2024 09:33

Its 100% true. Tom Howard and Avril Rolf were at it on the Fying Fish whilst poor old Jan was having to fend off the advances of slimy Ken Masters. ⛵️

Same! He moved onto the boat when his wife kicked him out (and got a restraining order).

Maybe the suggested characters in Captain Pugwash were not a myth after all!!

My friend's husband has a canoe.

Is he at the same risk of cheating or given it's technically not a boat is he say more likely to be having an emotional affair?

😂 go out check out canoeing on Urban Dictionary.

Tenpintonpin · 16/09/2024 09:37

The male boat owners I've met fall into 3 categories: a) married ones who sail with wives and kids b) single/divorced engineers who sail with friends and rarely get a whiff of action c) middle-aged serial shaggers, married or unmarried. One chap I knew had a wife, a boat-based mistress, and an additional ongoing fling with a student. Wife had no clue, mistress knew about wife but not student, student knew she was one of three and didn't care.

Don't think so.

Bigger is better in this instance. And I dare day, more comfortable.

It is not always all about the motion of the ocean.

Pookerrod · 16/09/2024 09:44

I like to sail, sadly cannot afford a boat.

I have been invited to sail with boat owning men a few times to help with the winching, but perhaps I misheard and it’s wenching they were after? 🤔

Who on earth is using an allotment for a love-shack?

A B-52s tribute band?

BigDahliaFan · 16/09/2024 09:46

How many people do you know with boats?

Did you watch Howard's Way a lot?

The men I know who have boats have them for the same reason that many men have sheds or allotments....it's somewhere they can go and potter (and that's not a euphemism) the number that go out on the water in them is vanishingly small.

See, that just makes me think that their 'pottering' is a euphemism..

DoIWantTo · 16/09/2024 09:49

I’ve only ever known one man to own a boat and he was a cheat (but on land, not on a boat) so now you’ve got me wondering 🤣
