Disney adults

In the last year I've met three separate couples that are so into Disney.

I know we all like different things, but isn't Disney for children?

I don't make anyone feel bad for liking Disney. I do think it's weird, but I keep my opinion to myself (and on an anonymous forum).

....you do realise that people can read your comments on this anonymous forum, right? So calling someone weird can still make them feel bad even if it's not to their face?
Or do you think saying something on the internet doesn't count in real life?
The councillor's wife who is looking at 3 years plus in prison for making racist comments on X probably thought that a month ago too....not looking so good for her now.

Why does it trigger you so much??

I understand some people enjoy things that I’m not interested in but it never triggers me.

I find it odd that grown adults like you, have such extreme reactions to people liking different things to them.

Its a throaway line. No need to think so deeply into it.

Have a look at this, I like Disney as do our boys. This I think steps over a line, but I'll let you all decide.

Oh wow I love this!!

If I bought it then I would keep it how it is.

The bathroom is a bit bare though!

Ermm no it’s not.
I’ve never said that to anyone in my life, nor have I heard it said as a throwaway line.

Why does it trigger you so much?

BeeDavis · 05/09/2024 18:45

So when I turned a certain age was I supposed to just stop watching all the Disney stuff that I loved when I was a kid?!

Throwaway lines aren't inherently nasty. Yours was.

Exactly, calling people pedophiles is supposedly just a bit of banter, however if you watch a Disney cartoon after your 18th birthday you clearly molest children.

And people like that think those who like Disney have problems?

Crazy.

I think I'd rather be a bit wholesome watching Moana than implying people were obviously molesting children for liking an animated film.

Says a lot more about the person than watching a "kids" film.

babyhighlandcow · 05/09/2024 19:02

I love Disney World in Florida. It’s great. °o°

babyhighlandcow · 05/09/2024 19:03

Isn’t football just for children? I mean, a ball is just a toy after all.

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 05/09/2024 19:03

Gives me the ick - find Disney sickly sweet, my kids have never bothered much with it either. But each to their own- fine if you enjoy it but I don’t

RedRobyn2021 · 05/09/2024 19:05

Can't say it's ever bothered me

I do think you get extremes in everything don't you, like I am 33 but I have a jelly cat teddy. I am on a Facebook page for people who like Jellycat and there are grown people with hundreds of the soft toys. I do find it a bit strange, but c'est la vie!

Benvolio · 05/09/2024 19:13

I would be surprised if any of my friends were big into Disney, and I would laugh at them, either to their faces or secretly to myself, depending on the relationship.

It's ok for people to be into Disney and it's ok for others to find it idiotic. Why do you need our opinions?

Life is short and stressful. Do what makes you happy (as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone). If people want to step away from the horrors of adulthood for a few hours, good for them.

Yeah leave them alone. There are worse adults in this world .

Disney is about nostalgia, escape and imagination - wonderful things at any age.

We’ve been to Disney World in Florida maybe 8 times (the one in Paris is awful). We can afford to travel a lot, and go to many countries but we love Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. We love going on the rides, some are fantastic and everything is so clean and perfect. People are friendly. The decorations for Christmas are fantastic. °o°
We don’t stay at the Disney hotels though, because even for us it’s too much Disney and way too cramped.

Because of people like you I lie at work about where we’re going, couldn’t be bothered to explain and get shit for it. When they pay for my holiday they can decide where I go.

The funny thing is that the people who question why we would want to go again are those who never have been are and would never take their kids. Or the people who can’t afford it. They’d happily go to the same AI in Turkey, or the same caravan park year after year. Which I don’t question, because why would I.

motherofbabydragon · 05/09/2024 19:27

out of the same reason some people like football or any other hobby/interest. i like the films for a nice cozy snuggle night and enjoy the nostalgia. we enjoy going to the disney parks because it is a nice easy holiday that involves relatively low amounts of planning after the first time and we made ourselves familiar. plus the atmosphere there is always great and everyone always seems happy and in a good mood

Why did it cost that much? Family of four, cost maybe 4-6k for us for 2 weeks each time we went. We did all the Disney parks, Universal, we've added Busch in a few times. SeaWorld and the water park.

Tickets for Disney, Universal and SeaWorld (with Busch Gardens) are now £1,185 each for 2025. First time we went in 2009 it was about £5K for 2 adults, 2 children all in. Not a chance of that now.

Because she is Cruella de Vil? 🤔

Disney is for anyone that likes it. We can all ge young at heart, regardless of our actual age.
