Disney adults

In the last year I've met three separate couples that are so into Disney.

I know we all like different things, but isn't Disney for children?

Don't yuck other people's yum.

There's a magic cut off age where you suddenly have to stop liking your favourite things and start liking more "grown up approved" things.
(Only in the heads of po faced fun police, that is)

Well said!

LittleGreenDuck · 05/09/2024 17:19

I don't care what people are into, does no harm. Though I have to admit I raised an eyebrow at a post last Christmas saying that people were queueing 3-4 hours at Universal Studios to meet the Grinch. I mean, it's just a person in a costume. But no one was making me join the queue, so I scrolled on by and got on with my day.

betterangels · 05/09/2024 17:24

The world is on fire. Let people enjoy things.

User645262 · 05/09/2024 17:30

Many are childless because they're neurodivergent and cannot cope with the demands of parenting and family life. There's nothing inherently creepy about it. Others have possibly experienced childhood trauma or SA and Disney is essentially a perpetual safe space for them to re-live childhood. Trauma survivors are also frequently childfree out of choice.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 05/09/2024 17:34

Why?

What are your hobbies and interests? Let's see who thinks those are creepy.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 05/09/2024 17:38

I don't mind a bit of Disney. I wouldn't go to Disney World or whatever, mainly because I don't like crowds, but I don't mind watching some of the films. I had a bit of a thing for Robin Hood as a teen! Tangled, and the series after, were really good for helping to explain to my dc what a healthy relationship should look like after some events in the wider family.

Theunamedcat · 05/09/2024 17:40

Got to admit I didn't really do disney I had a fairly soulless childhood and I struggled when I had children my sister and mother were constantly bleating at me I HAD to show dd this film I HAD to show her that film I said why? 😂 it's not like I ever saw them growing up! She hasn't suffered by not watching them all she has watched some but we don't obsess over them all

Choochoo21 · 05/09/2024 17:49

I love Disney and I’m proud of it.

I also love colouring books, watching murder documentaries and doing crosswords.

Nothing I do is determined by what other people think, I simply just do what I enjoy.

I don’t understand why some people get triggered by adults acting young/having fun.

It’s almost like it’s looked down upon but that says more about the person doing the judging, than the person just living their life and not harming anyone.

The Disney adult I know had an incredibly difficult childhood, so I have always wondered if she's making up for that in adulthood. Each to their own.

I agree with this as im the same some might think im nuts lol.

3peassuit · 05/09/2024 17:52

I’m over 70 and love Disney world. It’s fun to let your inner child out for a while.

queenofthewild · 05/09/2024 17:58

I'd love to be a Disney adult. Unfortunately my family have fuck all magic in them, so I'm a museum
Mum instead.

One day I'm going to do Disney on my own.

clarepetal · 05/09/2024 17:59

It's not for me, but I love Harry Potter, and that certainly is for children.

ReadingWorm · 05/09/2024 18:10

I don’t know many children who can afford £15k+ holidays.

I am so glad you raised this question. I am fascinated by this and it comes up a lot on my social feeds.

I have friends who like Disney but don't go on about it but I think that is very different to adults who partake in Disneybounding and wander around the parks without children.

Mainly the people who's videos appear on my feeds tend to be Americans who seem to live close to the parks and visit them constantly. I am no expert and I would love to hear the opinions of an expert about the extreme Disney Adults. There is a line that gets crossed and it seems to come with obsessive and excessive consumerism.

I am conflicted because I agree with what everyone is saying it's Disney, what could be wrong with Disney it is meant to bring joy, but when I watch some of the Disney Adults that appear on my feed something doesn't sit right.

In 2022, my teen kids refused to come on our annual Disney vacation. No problem, we cancelled them off the booking and took them to New York instead. Great.

That left DH and I with a holiday and all the party tickets, Halloween party tickets etc that we’d booked, and no kids to take along.

Not wanting to waste money, we decided to go anyway and discovered that Disney is a great place to go without kids! So much fun! We had an absolute blast.

And now, I wouldn’t take the kids 😂 they ruin it.

Why did it cost that much? Family of four, cost maybe 4-6k for us for 2 weeks each time we went. We did all the Disney parks, Universal, we've added Busch in a few times. SeaWorld and the water park.

Have a look at this, I like Disney as do our boys. This I think steps over a line, but I'll let you all decide.

That’s not really what is meant by the term Disney adults, it’s usually aimed at adults who go to the Disney parks without children and who have Disney ornaments in their house and wear Disney clothing and are really quite Disney obsessed.

i am usually an each to their own but something about it I find a bit creepy and the few Disney adults I have met have always been a little bit obsessed.

Yes, because adults who like Disney are obviously paedophiles. FFS.

Getmeahobnobstat · 05/09/2024 18:22

Disney’s Vero Beach - stunning.
Serenity Bay at Disney’s Castaway Cay - unbelievable.
Victoria and Albert’s- unbelievable.

Disney is more than cartoons and theme parks.
