How often do you wear make up?

My next door neighbour wears a full face of make up every single day without fail. I say this having just bumped into her in my pj's with no make up...

Once or twice a year. But I also don’t wander around in my PJs…I’m not sure the two are related?

Exactly this.

angellinaballerina7 · 01/09/2024 13:53

Not sure why makeup needs justified, I find it less odd to be in full glam than I do going out in pjs at lunchtime, even if it is just to your car… I like doing it, so I wear it most days

5 minutes !? I only put on mascara to fool people I'm awake and that takes me 5 minutes. Your routine would take me an hour atleast (with time to rub off and correct my mistakes, no da Vinci genes here)

I only put on mascara to fool people I'm awake

😆

I guess years of doing the exact same thing has made it so I could probably do it without a mirror by this point xD

Pickingmyselfup · 01/09/2024 13:56

I put it on everytime I go "out" so meeting someone for drinks, a meal, shopping trip or on a family day out.

I put it on for work when I can be bothered, can be every day or no days in a week. Some days I might just put some bronzing drops and mascara on, other days it's the whole lot.

Never to just go to the supermarket, hardly ever for the gym but once or twice I have put some tinted moisturiser and mascara on with lip oil or lip balm unless I'm wearing it already.

It's just time and effort and I can't be bothered but I do enjoy playing around and trying out different products.

funinthesun19 · 01/09/2024 13:57

I used to wear makeup everyday and it used to make me feel good about myself, and now I barely wear it. It’s coincided with my mental health going down hill. I just don’t have the energy for it any more. Same with hair and clothes - I used to love those too.

midgetastic · 01/09/2024 13:57

Don't wear make up
Don't wear the PJs outside

DelphiniumBlue · 01/09/2024 13:58

Interesting.. most of my neighbours don't look like they are wearing makeup most of the time, except for one who puts it for church on a Sunday. I can't remember seeing any of the others in make up except maybe for a night out.

Personally, I put on eyebrow pencil, a few dots of a pencil eyeliner, and a dab of blusher when I get up, and lipstick/balm when I leave the house or when I remember during the day.

Muffintop20 · 01/09/2024 14:05

Nearly every day

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 01/09/2024 14:08

Some of the younger women where I work wear eyelashes that enter a room about half a minute before the rest of them. I admit to thinking those look weird.

Lizzy1980 · 01/09/2024 14:09

Just mascara and a bit of lippie on work days. Having said that, I’ve recently started having eyelash extensions done monthly so I spend even less time applying makeup now. I do wear the full works (foundation, blusher, eyeshadow etc) on a night out but those are few and far between these days so make up doesn’t really play a big part in my life anymore. From about 16-30 I wouldn’t have so much as walked the dog without it, it feels quite liberating not to be as bothered now

Floatlikeafeather2 · 01/09/2024 14:09

Not sure why people keep mentioning the OP and her pyjamas in a snide way. I assumed that she only mentioned it to make the point that it was so early that she was still in her pyjamas but the neighbour was already fully made up. I don't think she was boasting that she was so unbothered by appearances that she never changes out of her nightwear.

hookiewookie29 · 01/09/2024 14:15

Every day, even if I'm not going anywhere or seeing anybody. Just tinted moisturiser, mascara, bit of blusher, eyeliner.
I'm a pale redhead with blonde eyelashes and eyebrows and look dead without it!

RandomUsernameHere · 01/09/2024 14:19

Full face, only a few times a year. Most days I will wear a small amount of eyeliner and mascara (takes around 2 minutes).

BlueEyedLeucy · 01/09/2024 14:26

I would say I never wear makeup but I did use a dab of concealer to hide a spot on my wedding day! That is the sum total of my makeup wearing. I find the feeling of it on my skin unpleasant so have never bothered with it.

Precipice · 01/09/2024 14:46

Never. I used to wear it occasionally for slightly dressed up occasions, but stopped doing that altogether about 2.5 years ago. Men get to go everywhere with just their normal faces being enough, so should we.

Not sure if I ever wore a 'full face' of makeup, as I'm not sure what that entails. I used to wear foundation and lipstick; I've never worn any eye makeup or rouge.

Juicyj1993 · 01/09/2024 15:11

Basically if I'm leaving the house or have an important teams meeting where I'll need to be on camera to senior/external people.

  • for errands/team meeting tinted moisturiser, mascara, brows blush and powder and maybe some cream eyeshadow
  • for anything else the works, full eyeshadow with glitter, lipstick, highlighter, bronzer on top of above. I love doing my makeup
Normallynumb · 01/09/2024 15:54

Every day but just lipstick and concealer to hide my dark circles

wendywoopywoo222 · 01/09/2024 15:59

Most days I don't wear any then I go through phases of wearing a full face every day.

TheOnlyCherryOnMyTree · 01/09/2024 16:00

50/50. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I never wear a lot, I don't feel I have a face for a lot of make up, I end up looking like I'm in drag.

Machiavellian · 01/09/2024 16:01

Do men wear makeup? No. I don't see why I should have to look a certain way.

kitsuneghost · 01/09/2024 16:02

I wear a little foundation and mascara maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Just if I'm going out out and look really shit.

Crumpleton · 01/09/2024 16:08

Never..
I'm at a stage where even sun screen sweats off within minutes of putting it on so lord knows what my chin/neck would look like with a full face of make up hanging off of it.

DeathpunchDan · 01/09/2024 16:09

I've never been very good at applying it and just look like a badly painted leather bag sobtend to not bother any more. I now have a job where no one can wear it at work so I kind of blend in.
I saw one of my colleagues out of work once and didn't recognise her with make up on!
I think it looks fabulous when applied well.

Hollowvoice · 01/09/2024 16:17

Used to wear at least foundation and mascara every day to work. Then COVID and masks put a stop to that. These days only really when going out, although I'll put on some colour correction stuff if I'm particularly red of a morning.

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 01/09/2024 17:43

never
in all of my 43 years ive never put on make up
never been interested or felt the need to
i spent my teens either in the sea, swimming pools or ponds(i lived in the mountains and 30 mins from a seaside)
,i also had severe acne (severe PCOS)until my early 20s

i do look after my face though and have been told for years i don't look my age(43 now)

ive done extensive face care since teens
only use/d organic soap, serums etc
micro needling daily
do diy deep facials regularly(i took a course years ago so what you pay a beautician for i can do myself )
never drink or smoke
never sunbathed
if in sun wear high SPF as all times
never hung around smoky pubs
drink tons of water and milk

the last 5 years ive discovered Korean skincare(give it a google)so use a lot of their products and psychology

i also think my location helps as i live on the edge of a forest(no exaggeration)in rural Wales so have clean healthy air at all times
(its beautiful here in autumn)
before that on top of a mountain(winter mountain night air is something else )
