How often do you wear make up?

My next door neighbour wears a full face of make up every single day without fail. I say this having just bumped into her in my pj's with no make up...

Every day, not always every makeup but most days

Once or twice a year. But I also don’t wander around in my PJs…I’m not sure the two are related?

This is an excellent point and I actually quite resent the two being linked 🤣

I don't even go downstairs in nightwear - it's something I associate with children and otherwise with illness.

I don't own jogging bottoms and only wear leggings if I'm going to the gym.

I never wear makeup but I don't look "dead" without it (tbh I don't think anyone does - nobody says that about men!). I do understand that some people with very pale eyelashes or lips like to make their lashes and lips more distinct from their skin colour, and some people like to cover what they see as blemishes. Each to their own on that as long as it's a genuine choice! I appreciate having dark lashes and so far lips that seem to have a high blood flow or something and therefore have a reasonable amount of colour naturally (may change soon as I age, I appreciate) makes the choice not to wear makeup rather easier.

I wear tinted moisturiser, mascara, blusher and concealer as a minimum on work days. I don't tend to bother on holidays. At the weekend sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

Notimeforaname · 01/09/2024 13:15

I too wear a 'full face of make up' every day.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 01/09/2024 13:16

Tinted moisturiser, eyebrow pencil, mascara and a neutral lipstick every morning as part of getting ready for the day (takes about a minute).

A bit more (add to the above powder, brown eyeliner, neutral eyeshadow, pinky lipstick) when going to work or going out somewhere in particular. Takes about 3 minutes.

I do not suit being more made up than this these days.

Scammersarescum · 01/09/2024 13:16

Never.

The minute men routinely spend time time and money putting slap on their faces to appease my female gaze, I will reconsider.

Till then, if people don't like my face. Fuck em.

kittiecat16 · 01/09/2024 13:17

I wear make up for work and if I’m going anywhere at the weekends but it’s not always a “full face” especially in the summer months as I hate having too much make up on in summer. In winter I’d do a bit more in the way of foundation etc

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/09/2024 13:18

Most days. Sometimes a bit more (work days), sometimes just some tinted moisturiser and mascara. Always look and feel better with a little bit on.

SpanThatWorld · 01/09/2024 13:18

Never.

Last wore some in 1989 for a friend's wedding. Just realised I'm coming up to the 35th anniversary of last wearing lipstick. I wonder if Moonpig sells an appropriate card.

Wigtopia · 01/09/2024 13:18

I never really learnt how to do it! So I just put sun cream on my face everyday (I know this isn’t make up, but if the only product I put on every day) and occasionally some mascara if I am going out for the evening.

GaspingGekko · 01/09/2024 13:18

I only wear make-up for big occasions like weddings. So not very often really.

I think my face looks weird with it on. But I'm sure it's just what I'm used to, if I wore it every day no doubt I would find my face weird without it.

Andoutcomethewolves · 01/09/2024 13:18

When I have a work Teams call (I look truly horrendous otherwise, the lighting in my bedroom/office is not kind!) or when I'm going out (proper out, like a gig or fancy restaurant or something, not just a couple of drinks with mates in the local!)

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 01/09/2024 13:19

Most days if I’m going out I wear a little bit. I used to do a full face but really don’t have the time now with a young child. I just fill in my eyebrows and put some mascara and powder on. It takes 2 minutes. I only put a full face on if I’m going to a wedding or something.

Competitive undergroomers out in force on this thread 🤣

Every day for me but I have bad skin. Wish I could go makeup free with lovely clear skin!

Stirmish · 01/09/2024 13:20

I never wear make up in my house

But always if I'm going outside or to work unless it's some kind of last minute emergency

Oh! Actually I do my eyebrows most days, they're a good shape but quite thin and pale. But that takes ten seconds.

I get your point but I wouldn’t say it’s under grooming, just what feels right for them. Just like a full face isn’t over grooming either.

Comedycook · 01/09/2024 13:24

Several times a week. Not every single day...but if I'm doing anything vaguely more interesting than the school run and the supermarket, then I will wear it. It takes me no time at all. I can do a full face in about 90 seconds!

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 01/09/2024 13:24

Every day - I work FT and wear foundation, mascara, lip gloss, eye pencil and blush/bronzer for work. I look like I'm ill otherwise, as I'm so pale.

Weekends I may just wear foundation and lip gloss, it depends on my mood.

Thinkingcalmthoughts · 01/09/2024 13:24

I also wear make-up every day. I’ll have an occasional light day where maybe I’ll just have concealer / blush / mascara / lippy on, but most days I’m in the “full face” category. I enjoy doing it, and it makes me feel more confident and more beautiful

GreenGrass28 · 01/09/2024 13:25

Every day pretty much. Foundation, blush, eye shadow, liner, mascara and brow gel. I guess that's a full face of makeup, although it looks like day makeup and not like I'm going on a night out.

Takes me about 7 mins to do and I actually quite enjoy it. I work from home, so would be easy not to bother but it makes me feel ready for the day and helps me get in 'work mode'.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 01/09/2024 13:26

Maybe once or twice per week. I have gradually become more relaxed about going out without makeup as I've gotten older, whereas I used to feel very self conscious without it. I do cleanse and moisturise daily and will often use a lip balm too.

fortheveryfirsttime · 01/09/2024 13:26

Every day pretty much unless I'm not leaving the house. I don't feel that I could wear nothing on my face.

Sometimes I aim for a bit of concealer and a tidy of my brows but then I feel like I may as well do the whole face once I've done my skin care routine.

Nellieinthebarn · 01/09/2024 13:27

I used to wear a bit of tinted moisturiser and mascara for work, but now I am retired I can't remember the last time I bothered, apart from lip balm. In fact, I think I'd better chuck out the tubes I've still got, I've been retired 3 years this month, they're probably a bit rancid by now.

Edited to add - this is not because I am a natural glowing beauty, more because I can't be arsed now, and never could really.

Teenagerantruns · 01/09/2024 13:27

Maybe once or twice a year? I work in a kitchen so make up will just melt of my face.
When l worked in an office used to wear foundation and a bit of eyeshadow...no idea why really, l think what's the point men don't have to cover thier face in crap.
My DW on the other hand won't even go to the car without lipstick and a full made up face. Each to thier own.
