Is anyone else getting unreasonably mad that the ticketmaster site has completely crashed whilst trying to secure oasis tickets?!

I didn’t miss the point. My own point was, it’s the band who is being greedy, not Ticketmaster.

Dynamic pricing should be illegal, imo.

Crazyclover · 31/08/2024 21:12

Started in queue at 103089, got my tickets after six hours of waiting- dynamic priced ones were all that was left but I couldn’t afford to go before so I thought stuff it and paid up!

sunshineandshowers21 · 31/08/2024 21:30

i was in the queue for six and a half hours, got to the ticket page and all they had left was standing tickets for £337. i’ve always been a huge oasis fan and my 16 year old was desperate for tickets so i sucked it up and paid. honestly, i would have paid more because my son’s happiness when he found out we had tickets more than made up for the price!

They said they won’t be televised. They’ll be filming them for sure

AngeloMysterioso · 01/09/2024 00:25

Let be honest, they’ll probably tour again now they’ve seen how lucrative it can be for them. It’s gonna be like Fleetwood Mac where they can’t fucking stand each other but they bash out a tour every now and then when they get down to their last £10 million and think they’re gonna run out of money. This one is pretty much funding Noel’s divorce.

I agree! I’m not even that old but I remember being able to go into my local indie record shop or I even queued at the crack of dawn at Wembley box office for a concert ticket, and the price was just the price. None of this dynamic surge pricing bollocks. “In demand” pricing well of course it’s in demand what did they bloody expect?!

WhamBamThankU · 01/09/2024 00:50

We got kicked out a total of 6 times, I was accused of being a bot and then it sold out. Ridiculous. We got to the selecting tickets stage 4 times.

I only got to that stage after 12 hours of being kicked in and out but I know somebody who after 2 hours had tickets. It wasn’t fair at all and I don’t think people were even being allowed to purchase tickets in the correct order they arrived!

sunburnandsangria · 01/09/2024 11:30

I'd be interested to know what competition law experts think about surge pricing for tickets (versus services like hotels and taxis).

There's something I can't put my finger on about the captive audience or finite nature of a concert ticket that seems different and closer to price gauging than market adjustment addressing demand.

But it's clearly legal and I'm no expert so 🤷🏼‍♀️

musicalfrog · 01/09/2024 12:04

@sunburnandsangria I think there could definitely be some possibility of challenging it. It's so obviously weighted against the consumer. Surely its days are numbered.

Because it maybe absolutely tosh. I reckon tribute acts will put on a better performance than the Gallagher millionaires looking to make a few million out of their shrinking fan base.

Shrinking fan base? 14 million people were trying for tickets!

People don’t have to like them, but you can’t pretend they aren’t massively popular.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 01/09/2024 12:13

The dynamic pricing is terrible. £150 standing tickets were £357 when I got to the front of the queue. No thanks.

musicalfrog · 01/09/2024 12:26

In hindsight I'm glad we didn't get tickets. It's a shocking way to treat fans imo. I agree it won't improve their popularity, just the opposite.

Used to be a big fan and did manage to see them in their heyday.

But if they start doing any ‘man of the people’ stuff well time has moved on. Sorry Noel has got to find 20 odd million for the divorce but I guess the tour will cover it. Then another tour a couple of years will be their pensions.

I was one of those who was caught in prices doubling so I am mightily pissed off with the way fans have been treated. I refused to pay double - yes my choice.

I would imagine a “Blur” type documentary

My kids know someone who is always getting tickets. It's become a joke how lucky they are. Surprise, surprise they got 4 tickets on the early sale and just got another 3 tickets. All for Cardiff. How? How are some people so lucky that they get through everytime? They got Cold Play and multiple Taylor Swift tickets.

An update...in addition to the 7 tickets they already bought, the lucky ticket lady managed to get another 3. So that's 9 tickets for one family of 3 people.

JoeGrundyWasMyRoleModel · 02/09/2024 09:44

Back in 2012 I had a ticket for the athletics finals day at the Paralympics. When it was announced that the CEO of Ticketmaster was a member of the medal presentation party the whole stadium booed😀

Just seen that two more dates are added and will be offered to people who were unsuccessful via Ticketmaster - assume means first ballot as loads were unsuccessful in general sale but how would you know that?

CharlotteBog · 08/09/2024 02:38

I just got my invitation to register for ballot for chance to receive code to join queue for extra 2 dates.
I had attempted to buy tickets via the regular queue not the first ballot.

mononymous · 08/09/2024 05:59

Me too Charlotte - got an email at 00:57 today to register for the ballot. I was in the queue last Saturday and got kicked off by TM after 9 hours
