JKR being uncharacteristically quiet

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:42

Anyone else noticed since the news that JKR is being sued by Imane Khelif she's been very quiet, unless I'm mistaken she's hasn't tweeted at all in about a week.

and hasn't responded at all to the legal action being taken against her. This is very unlike her, I'm thinking she's been advised by her lawyers to keep quiet. Anyone else think she might have put her foot in it this time?

Misogyny against Khelif or any other woman who doesn't fit in your boxes is however thoroughly permitted.

No misogyny if Khelif is a man. I am waiting with bated breath to see Khelif married off. Oddly nobody has stepped forward so far.

However, while that doesn’t happen, I am waiting to see what happens with the UN Women’s Special Rapporteur who was not a happy bunny about either of the competitors in the women’s category with XY tests. It’s just too serious to have somebody who’s gone through male puberty in contact sports with women.

Anybody with a different view I assume to be getting their thrills from the idea of watching a woman get killed in the ring.

Excellent article on what's at stake here

Doesn't matter what Khelif's genitalia looked like when they were born, or that they were raised as a girl. At puberty it would have become very obvious that they suddenly had a huge physical advantage over other 'girls'. They were then probably snaffled up by unscrupulous coaches who saw a way to cheat the system. And so it started.

Being a woman isn't a 'feeling', it's a physiological fact. And if your body happens to have a Y chromosome, no matter how unexpectedly, then you don't get to get to enter a boxing ring and beat the shit out of women.

Anyone with a shred of decency knows that. But unscrupulous bastards, with their eyes on the prize, are deliberately ignoring it.

JKR has the best lawyers in the world to defend a factual truth. She has nothing to worry about.

IK is the eldest child of four. The youngest siblings are girls. I expect that by child four the parents were well versed in the appearance of baby female external genitalia, so questions were probably raised well before puberty . Even in remote Algerian mountainous villages people know what looks right and what doesn’t look right.

He has a vagina and 'internal testes'?

Iiiiiinteresting.

@Quitelikeit You're right, they can't control that they were born with a condition that makes it ambiguous whether they are a man or woman.

They can, however, absolutely control whether they use any male attributes they might have - ie, enhanced testosterone etc - to exploit the advantage this means they have over those who are 100% biologically women. In short, IK DID have control over whether they became a boxer.

THAT is the issue here - I really don't know what part of that people are struggling to understand.

Oh they understand.

They either hate women, hate JKR or just are desperate to virtue signal their arses off regardless.

Misogyny against Khelif or any other woman who doesn't fit in your boxes is however thoroughly permitted.

'A woman who doesn't fit your boxes'.

At this point, statements like this are just gaslighting bollocks!

There is a universally accepted definition among the 7.9bn people on this planet of what a woman is - an adult human female.

There's a tiny percentage with DSD. There are also transpeople.

However, as I've said upthread. We can perfectly acknowledge these are a 'thing' without insisting that the universally accepted definition is now defunct. It isn't. Because most people people don't look at life through the prism of gender ideology.

The End.

Pretty sure it's the latter. Someone upthread said it's misogyny from men against women.
That hasn't been my real world experience personally.
All the traditional men I know respect women and think this rhetoric is utter nonsense. As do most sane people.
However, the relentless virtue signalling coming from certain groups of women against their own sex is wild! Especially on here...

CowboyJoanna · 18/08/2024 16:36

StealthSpinach · 17/08/2024 16:02

No - this is incorrect.

IK is NOT transgender.
This case has nothing to do with being transgender at all.
IK was wrongly “assigned” female at birth, due to misidentification of non-typical genitalia. ie. Differences of Sexual Development (DSD).
If chromosome tests were able to have been conducted at that time, it would have been revealed then that IK was male (XY).
When IK was 17, IK was approached when playing football with boys and offered a chance to box.
IK has failed 2 chromosome tests (revealing XY chromosomes when female type is XX).
IK and team knew this before the Olympics, but due to the IOC not giving a shit about female sports, IK was able to compete in the female category despite having male advantage (including a punch over 162% more powerful than a female).

This is about women’s/female sports, safety and rights, and has nothing to do with transgenderism.

IK is biologically male. Regardless of whatever mixup there was at birth, even when it was confirmed he was actually a man, he continues to identify as a woman.
That makes him a TIM.

People need to stop saying that Khelif lives a woman - this is not acceptable behaviour for a Muslim woman or the man who has Imane on his shoulders.

I’m sure she’s devastated.

She doesn’t ’hound trans people’. She stands up for women and girls and calls out MEN. Find one example where she’s ‘hounded’ a trans man. Her wealth enables her stand up to people whereas the mere mortals face being sacked from jobs for stating fact.

People (like you) just hate women having a voice.

To be fair, she has gone after trans people online.

one example of the top of my head (and I can't remember names) but there was a football coach who transitioned from male to trans woman. There was a news article basically just saying this person was the new football coach and JKR made a tweet basically denying this person was trans and is a man etc. that I would class as bullying, there was no need for it, she wasn't protecting women or girls, there was no threat, this person just got a job and JKR felt the need to go after them online. That wasn't using her voice for good, idk what to call it other than needless cruelty.

That;s an excellent article @TheKeatingFive thank you - well informed, factual and sets out the dangers of TW in women's categories clearly

Igmum · 18/08/2024 17:18

The football coach our resident TRA OP is referring to is the same football coach who targeted JKR repeatedly in his tweets and did a television interview warning 'TERFs' to be careful what they said.

Definitely a poor vulnerable person who needed protection.

wincarwoo · 18/08/2024 17:18

@Jdugsgsgwyd I think the point was that "man appointed to football manager job" is hardly news.

wincarwoo · 18/08/2024 17:18

@Jdugsgsgwyd I think the point was that "man appointed to football manager job" is hardly news.

Okay but like my point still stands? It wasn't about protecting women or girls or anything the purpose of the tweet was literally to go after someone who was trans simply because they were trans.

Igmum · 18/08/2024 17:28

It was a (frankly mild) criticism of a bully.

Don't think you're doing as well as you thought you would when you started goading.

I remember that. It was pointing out the absurdity of us all having to pretend this man is 'actually' a woman. That's not bullying, it's simply a reality check.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/08/2024 17:32

You are missing Wes's point. This is what Wes said.

She doesn’t ’hound trans people’. She stands up for women and girls and calls out MEN. Find one example where she’s ‘hounded’ a trans man.

A transman is a female who identifies as a man. You have immediately reverted to an example of JKR calling out a male person who identifies as a woman.

I don't consider myself to be goading. I think this is part of the issue, everyone seems to come to the table expecting the other side to have the worst intentions.
I believe there is genuine cause for discussion - things like biological men in women's sport, this needs to be addressed, there needs to be rules put in place to keep competition fair and safe for women whilst also protecting athletes from the vitriol IK has suffered

violence against women - is on the rise and is a real issue that needs to be addressed

so many other things and that im sure people on both 'sides' will agree are problems but when it gets the point of hating someone or attacking them online for their very existence any attempt to reach common ground is lost.

So you think there's a genuine discussion to be had about biological males in women's sport but you're criticising a high profile woman for having that discussion?
