JKR being uncharacteristically quiet

1000 replies

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:42

Anyone else noticed since the news that JKR is being sued by Imane Khelif she's been very quiet, unless I'm mistaken she's hasn't tweeted at all in about a week.

and hasn't responded at all to the legal action being taken against her. This is very unlike her, I'm thinking she's been advised by her lawyers to keep quiet. Anyone else think she might have put her foot in it this time?

We've already established in this thread that you can be XY and still be female. Of course we didn't manage to establish this until I provided evidence of XY women giving birth - then suddenly the true mark of what makes someone male became something else. Just because we're talking about boxing doesn't mean you can't shift the goalposts apparently.

You really think no one knew about the very small number of XY individuals who could legitimately be considered to all intents and purposes female until you posted a link on this thread? Wow. I suggest you take some time reviewing the past week or so on FWR where exactly the link you posted was well known and discussed for some time.

There’s a road I walk down daily, and I go under a bridge towards the sun so anyone coming towards me is in silhouette. I’ve been paying attention recently and I have a 100% success rate recognising the sex of the person before they emerge from the shadow. I believe the scientists who say gait and body shape are dependent on biological sex because I’ve been observing it myself.

No doubt you cheek swabbed them all…

spaceshooter · 17/08/2024 23:26

I can't understand why people are even mentioning the trans issue here.

This athlete has nothing to do with trans people or that issue whatsoever.

Being intersex of genetically whatever because of their birth is nothing to do with being trans!

I thought JK was a defender or women's rights too but that became so entrenched in the trans debate thanks to social media a lot of people have lost sight of the issues in hand which are boxing and other sports eligibility, testing standards and methods.

KTheGrey · 17/08/2024 23:32

araiwa · 17/08/2024 14:55

So without trans bashing she's got nothing to say?

Yeah, those books are mainly blank paper, right?

Jumpingthruhoops · 17/08/2024 23:32

Tandora · 17/08/2024 21:02

Well it’s def clearly complicated for this boxer who is the subject of this abuse…

And? So what?
I empathise with their situation, I do, but, respectfully, just because it's 'complicated' for a tiny proportion of the 7.9bn people on this planet doesn't mean we have to move the goalposts of life as we know it for absolutely everyone.

As I understand it, people object to IK being able to box women because their testosterone levels mean they could potentially cause serious injury to their opponent, who doesn't have the same physical advantage.

And IK DOES have a physical advantage. People aren't bigots for pointing this out.
If anything, I'm rather shocked that posters on here are defending this individual, rather than defending the woman who knowingly could have nine bells of shit knocked out of her in the ring!

So what you're saying is everyone already knew that having XY chromosomes doesn't necessarily make you male, but they just chose not to mention it and continued to argue that having XY chromosomes makes someone male?

Because I'm not the person who should be Wow'd at in that case. Talk about a literal group attempt at ignoring facts that don't fit your feelings.

If you're assuming that everyone on Mumsnet is female, or that everyone posting on Mumsnet supports women's rights, it's time to wake up. There are lots of people who clearly hate women floating around this board. Nearly 50 years ago Germaine Greer said that women had no idea how much men hated them. You're getting a tiny taste of that here. There are some people — men mainly, but some women — who'd turn themselves inside out to deny reality if they thought they could get one over on women. It's misogyny in action.

Misogyny against Khelif or any other woman who doesn't fit in your boxes is however thoroughly permitted.

Dygger · 18/08/2024 00:34

IK is a man with a DSD: there's no misogyny here except that displayed by you and your woman-hating, reality-denying pals.

There was a woman with PCOS on another thread who was so triggered by all the scorn and judgement thrown at IK - particularly people posting images for other people to vouyer and judge . This mums-netter had her own real life experiences of being called a man and feeling unsafe and unwelcome in female spaces because of her body’s failure to conform to ideals of femaleness. She was relentlessly bullied off the thread.

IK is a man with a DSD

how do you know this please?

Dygger · 18/08/2024 00:42

All the evidence points to it.

IBA has said he's indicated XY on two DNA tests. His own doctor has indicated that his sex is an issue (pasted several times already on this thread as evidence). If he was female he'd have had another DNA test done a week or two ago and be waving the results around. And if he was a Muslim woman he wouldn't have been paraded around on another man's shoulders.

All the evidence so far indicates that he's male. He can have a quick, painless cheek swab to obtain a clear result. That he hasn't speaks volumes.

FreedomDogs · 18/08/2024 00:50

And if he was a Muslim woman he wouldn't have been paraded around on another man's shoulders.

Why do you think a Muslim women can't do this?

XY chromosomes plus male levels of testosterone- as confirmed BY IK’s OWN COACH = male advantages in sport.

Well just now I'm learning it's apparently because the Y chromosome is the one that lets you sit on someone's shoulders if you're Muslim.

Seriously, the absolute relentless bollocks some of you are coming out with, you ought to genuinely be ashamed. I'm out, I can't be arsed with hearing you lot talk a lot of ignorant bollocks about Muslims on top of everything else.

For the very last time. Having XY chromosomes does not necessarily make a person a man.

I have no idea. Why do you think I have some kind of insight into her state of mind?

Why do you keep asking the question when it’s irrelevant?

You do understand that she can be a woman and have XY chromosomes correct?
