To be embarrassed to be from Hull right now?

These "protests" just look like a load of people out for a fight. People on live steams talking about going to get beer and seem to be having a great time.
Causes are lost because of reasons like this? Why would I support you when you are destroying my city? Setting fire to bins? Throwing all sorts at the police. I can't support this.

They're in every place unfortunately! The Harehills idiots and the EDL idiots, whichever "side" they're on. There doesn't seem to be many regular, none violent thugs around anymore which is very scary!

Yes. Every home game. You are being ridiculous.

I'm sure there are plenty of football fans who wouldn't do this.

And "a different breed up there"? What do you sound like?

AhBiscuits · 03/08/2024 16:38

These mouthbreathing halfwits are everywhere. Protests and counter protests in Bristol tonight.

I live in the North East and the radgies, though many, are far outnumbered by the more reasonable folk.

So "working class" = rioting thug?

wastingtimeonhere · 03/08/2024 16:44

Judging by the shit on fb atm, there are plenty of supporters for it all, too. It's bloody rampant, and all these people are voters. We can only hope it starts raining again soon. They dissolve in rain and will go back to ranting at tv instead.

Jeannie88 · 03/08/2024 16:47

Other different places as well. You can see the drunken aggression towards the police just doing their jobs. Same breed of yobs you like violence for the sake of it, like footy hooligans. Only way they can express themselves is destroy, threaten and attack anyone who stops their vile activities.

🙄

What a ridiculous thing to say and yes given I live in Sunderland I've been to plenty of football matches in the NE. You're correct, there's not much drinking of Pimms but there is rarely anything more than good natured banter and people drinking a bit too much.

JackRabbitSlim · 03/08/2024 16:50

They don't represent Hull, it's likely a lot have travelled from elsewhere to join in.
Unfortunately the nice weather and a pretend "cause" has given the knuckle draggers something to do. I feel so sorry for the police though, the rioters are an utter embarrassment to all of us.

Chester23 · 03/08/2024 16:51

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 03/08/2024 16:33

Why should you personally feel embarrassed? Where you involved in the riots? Only the very stupid equates a horrible event with everybody from that region/country. They can be safely mocked and/or ignored.

Perhaps it's the downside of the constant national 'pride' in anything good that happens? People from that place puff themselves up and take ownership of it even though it has nothing whatsoever to do with them other than geography?

I am at home. And in answer to your question, as above everyone gets tarred with the same brush (the Sunderland comment)

I am proud of our police. Anything I have seen as soon as the police move forward the idiots back off. Unfortunately the idiots have now set fire to some pallets and bins outside of a mosque

It’s awful, but they’re not protests they’re just riots, none of these idiots are actually protesting.

I haven’t seen any riots online. There’s not been any tyre burning or looting. I’ve seen demonstrations. But certainly no riots. In all of the footage I’ve seen the police weren’t even in riot gear.

My poor DN is working in the city centre, at the moment, and is going to have to walk home.

I hope she gets home safe. We were going to go into town today but changed our mind luckily

We now have tyre burning. And cars. They have set fire to someone's business

YABU to be embarrassed from there. Get a grip. Loads of us are in the same position and anyone with any sense doesn't judge anyone just because of where they're from. More fool you to be personally bothered by the Sunderland comment.

IntoTheMild · 03/08/2024 17:06

I just wish they wouldn’t drink. We do need to take Britain back, but we’ll never get it back with these men behind the protests. Their behaviour makes a mockery out of a very real problem!

@Pepsinotshirley I think it said in the news a lot of people in the Sunderland incident last night had travelled from elsewhere

Aren't we encouraged to not be proud of anything GB does? When has anyone puffed themselves up about anything recently?

@Chester23 Please don't think it reflects on Hull. It's happening in several cities. Looks like it might kick off in Brum tonight. Lots of wrong'uns with their faces covered heading towards town. Sad
