Michael Jackson

Why has Michael Jackson not been cancelled?

I don’t understand why a musical has been made out of his music, and why his music is played at school discos and is still everywhere.

After I watched the documentary where the men described how he raped them, I won’t listen to his music at all, in fact, I feel a sense of disgust when it is played publicly.

I don’t understand why we seem to have cancelled everyone else except him. Is it because he died before he was officially found guilty?

YANBU.

I can't believe that anyone who has seen Leaving Neverland can believe he is innocent. Or anyone who knows anything about James Safechuck or Wade Robson. It is 100% obvious that they are telling the truth.

I wish I could separate the music from the artist, but unfortunately cannot listen to his music without thinking about what he has done.

What I don't understand is how his biopic is going ahead.

I've never believed it. I just looked up and watched Leaving Neverland after reading this thread. A few people have commented about inconsistencies in the witness' stories. Can anyone fill me in ?

I'm watching Square One on YouTube to refresh my memory of it. It's an interesting watch.

No it’s a fact. Savile should not have been allowed around children by the BBC. Are you going to say Savile is innocent now too?

Edited

Read back through all of my posts and tell me where I’ve ever said that Saville is innocent. Quite the opposite.

In which case you will agree that the statement that Savile should not be around childrenis not a “feeling” but a fact.

Didn't his defense hand pick that jury though? And even if they didn't how do we know they weren't either fans/starstruck or paid off on the sly?

What a load of utter nonsense!

HungryLittleCrocodile · 03/08/2024 22:16

@Magnastorm · Today 13:04

MJ fans are incredibly obsessive about him and his mediocre music.

Tell me you have never listened to more than 3 Michael Jackson songs without telling me you've never listened to more than 3 Michael Jackson songs! Wink

HungryLittleCrocodile · 03/08/2024 22:19

Rosscameasdoody · 03/08/2024 17:12

Anybody accused of what MJ had been would have been foolish beyond reason to stand trial without securing the services of the best lawyers they could afford.

Why then, is it always the assertion on MN that if you can afford good lawyers, you are somehow buying a not guilty verdict ? I saw the same argument applied on a thread some time ago regarding the woman who had a seizure behind the wheel of her car and drove into a school yard, killing two little girls. She had incontrovertible medical evidence of a seizure during which she lost consciousness and was found not to be responsible for their deaths. When it came to light that she was quite wealthy, those who had supported her changed their tune in the same way - her expensive lawyers got her off. It was nonsense then and it’s nonsense now.

Some people like to make up nonsense, and reach for the stars to find a 'reason' why 'people are guilty really,' when it's not the verdict they want. I hope to fuck that none of the MJ bashers on here are EVER on any jury!

You prove it's true! You can't. Because it's a load of steaming bull!

Like I just said, it's amazing what people make up, to try to prove themselves 'right.' Some will even go as far as to find a fake news story to 'prove' they are correct! 😆

As IF Michael Jackson's defence could pick the jury, and make sure they're a bunch of starstruck fans! Give over FFS! 😂 You're deluded!!!

Knowing what we know now, yes, of course. But the plain fact is, the BBC were complicit in allowing situations where he could access children and engage in abuse. And the fact remains that Saville was dead before he could be brought to justice, MJ was tried and acquitted. Big difference.

I was asking a question not telling you what happened. What I think happened is that he was a nonce and groomed at least 8 little boys, I suspect it's a whole lot more though, but feel free to tell me my opinion is "a load of steaming bull" that is your right after all.

No it’s about putting out a message to society that there is always a consequence to your actions. Dead or alive.

Keep on going with that he wasn’t convicted. He is literally in the same club as Saville. Neither were convicted but we all know exactly what they are.

It’s actually sickening that there’s people on a parenting site excusing him

Saville was dead when his crimes came to light. Jackson was tried and acquitted. Not the same thing. At all.

Rosscameasdoody · 03/08/2024 22:35

Mirabai · 03/08/2024 16:17

I don’t think everyone does have the facts.

I work on facts - direct evidence from the complainants, direct evidence from MJ himself who admitted he slept in beds with children, and from multiple items found in the police search.

I don’t go on feelz and fandom.

I’m not particularly a fan. And as I’ve said before if the charges were sleeping in a bed with children and preferring to spend his time with them, he would have been convicted. The charges were child abuse and they weren’t proven beyond reasonable doubt. And most of the comments here from detractors can be characterised as ‘feelz’ because the fact is that he was acquitted, regardless of what they think.

The load of steaming bull this poster called you out on was your assertion that Jacksons’ defence team ‘hand picked’ the jury based on whether they were fans, ‘starstruck’, or somehow in their pay, or whatever other utter bullshit you came up with to support your narrative. It’s been explained to you how actual jury selection in the real USA works, as opposed to the Hollywood courtroom drama version you seem to be clinging to.

I asked if that was what happened not stated. I have said what I think of that vile man multiple times. I also don't believe someone as rich and powerful as Jackson didn't use underhand tactics in that court case. My narrative is he's a filthy nonce, I also don't watch "Hollywood courtroom dramas" so have no idea what happens on screen or in real life.
I also think that if it was reinvestigated now it would have a different outcome.

IKR. Because he groomed the families of the boys as much as the boys themselves.

By the sound of it there are mothers on this thread who might make the same choice to send their kids to stay with a star they’re certain he’s innocent.

Fame does weird things to people.

Well you'd let Lucy Letby babysit your kids so not much room to talk...

It is surprising how many posters on MN of all places seem to be perfectly comfortable with a grown man sleeping in a bed with random children - but not just children, boys. No sleepovers with girls that I have ever heard of. Boys. Not just any boys, but boys of a particular age.

Little boys who later grew up to tell what actually happened to them. Little boys whose entire lives were twisted and hampered by shame.

The lawsuits and the pay-offs were the tip of the iceberg.

Good to know you'd send your own little boys off to sleepovers with some man, so long as he was famous and made what you term good music.

According to a report by NBC News, authorities in the early 1990s investigation thought there might have been as many as eight or 10 other victims.

Jackson denied the accusations until his death in 2009. His estate has continued to fight the claims.

Unless new evidence has come to light to change the original verdict it wouldn’t. And so far everything is conjecture.

Why should he be canceled when he was found innocent in court? I think it will be incredibly dangerous if we get to the point where we assume things are true because we've read them in the paper or seen them on tv.

OJ Simpson was found innocent

serialcatbuyer · 03/08/2024 23:00

It is weird that he would sleep in bed with them, and weird that their parents allowed it. But watching the documentaries it seems he was friends with them, like he had the mind of a child
