Angela Carini is the incredibly brave Italian boxer who had her Olympic dream shattered in less than a minute after being punched in the face by Imane Khelif, a male competitor who was disqualified from the women’s World Championships last year because his testosterone levels were too high.
Everyone should be saying her name. Over and over and over again.

4th reply is a shush now.

No we won't shush, thank you.

That's where "be kind" has got us women. Being punched in the face by a man. At the Olympics, for all the world to see.

She should never, ever have been put in this position but maybe, just maybe, finally the world will wake up and realise that "be kind", "it's such a toxic culture war", "bigots!", "shut up terf", "it's all so complicated", "it's a delicate situation" etc etc has led to this.

All because no one wants to have the conversation, they skirt around it and bluster. They ummm and ahhh.

It's not complicated. It's because no one wants to be the one in charge, and have to tell these men NO. They'd rather see women hurt and humiliated on a world stage, than tell a man to fuck off.

For fuck sake, why is it so hard to tell men NO, you can't do whatever the fuck you want?

They may not have fully formed male genitalia as they have DSD bu9 they have a Y chromosone which gives a male puberty.

Genitalia and wombs etc are secondary sex characteristics, if you have a Y you are a guy.

If a man survives standing on a landmine, in many cases, sadly, he may loose his penis. He is still a man, he had a male puberty and no amount of drugs, surgery and reduction in testosterone can change that.

Because its important.

I admit I have some sympathy for these two biologically male Olympians. As far as I've read, they were believed to be female from birth (they may well not have a penis in answer to another pp) and have always competed within female leagues. To me, it's quite different to a man who was born a man, fought mediocrely against men, and then decided to "become" a female in order to box in the olympics.

Despite that, I accept that they have biological advantages over the women and it isn't fair that they compete.

I think a lot of the reporting on this has been so vague that many believe these Olympians are trans.

Mondaysocial · 01/08/2024 16:47

Someone elsewhere has commented that a female boxer could also have broken her nose.

It wasn't that. Male boxers punch with 162% more force than women do. Angela will have felt the sheer force of the punch and realised that she could not go on.

Why does that matter?

You dont do boxing or any other sport with your penis, if you do, your doing it wrong.

Is a man who loses his penis in a war or by accident still a man? Yes.

turbonerd · 01/08/2024 16:49

Oh god, is that what happened?
I just scanned the olympic news bit because I cannot muster any enthusiasm this year, and it did say about the fight just lasting 40 seconds ish.

No, no and no. That is really disrespectful from the arrangeurs.

I would say that sympathy is misplaced. They were disqualified from female competition last year and neither appealed that decision. They know they're male and they've gone ahead and put themselves in the ring against women anyway.

crumpet · 01/08/2024 16:50

It’s interesting though, that if you begin to type “Istand”, “IstandwithImanekhelife” is the option provided to you. No mention of Angela.

Honestly it’s insidious.

Does it make a difference? They're male either way.

RedPoster · 01/08/2024 16:51

Wait I’m really confused; people are saying that her competitor was born female but has elevated testosterone - is that not true? Or were they born male and have transitioned?

And that's post Musk taking over. Imagine what it would have been like in 2022.

GailBlancheViola · 01/08/2024 16:52

It is an utter fucking disgrace this has been allowed.

The IOC and anyone who condones this show how much contempt they hold women in. They couldn't sink any lower if they tried.

Anyone trying to hand wave this away and make excuses condones male violence against women. Don't bluster and pretend you don't because that is exactly what you are doing.

I think neither is true.

They are male with DSDs most probably.

No idea. Not relevant. That they have XY chromosomes and we have the IBA statement is enough. Plus they did not appeal the IBA ban.

Qanat53 · 01/08/2024 16:54

BMW6 · 01/08/2024 16:19

Yes, they both have XY chromosomes, they are both men.

They may have DSD, but nothing changes the fact that they are genetically MALE

Shame on the IOC.

DSD is complicated, presents differently depending on many factors. Micropeen or vulva dont make a woman
XY is male.. .

Wheresthebeach · 01/08/2024 16:54

This is finally getting the attention it deserves. Awful it’s happens, so unfair. It’s a mens rights movement designed to destroy womens rights.

Yes. The equivalent of putting a 90kg boxer in the ring with a 60kg boxer.
