Well how? My budget will only stretch to supermarket own brand beans, yet everywhere I look people are eating Heinz beans. How do they afford it?

They’re not even nice!

I prefer branston, but ALDIs are a close second.

Anjo2011 · 31/07/2024 17:43

Not us. M&S beans are 45p per tin and taste good.

vodkaredbullgirl · 31/07/2024 17:43

Heinz beans are overrated

Jennyathemall · 31/07/2024 17:44

Yes I know, I must have seen like thirty people eating beans today and they were all Heinz. It’s literally everywhere. When will the madness stop?

Reallybadidea · 31/07/2024 17:44

Taking out loans/extending their mortgage/financial help from family I would guess?

Cappugcino · 31/07/2024 17:45

Where are you looking to be seeing tonnes of people eating Heinz beans? 😂

XenoBitch · 31/07/2024 17:46

I like the Lidl ones. They seem smoother and nicer to me.

Overtheatlantic · 31/07/2024 17:46

How do people literally afford a piece of cheese? I don’t understand it.

Hankunamatata · 31/07/2024 17:46

Branston beans all the way but have been impressed with lidl

HJ83 · 31/07/2024 17:46

Do some people get their beans on a lease? I know some people do that with cars.

Floralnomad · 31/07/2024 17:46

I don’t eat beans but my son prefers Heinz and I buy them in cases of 24 from Costco which works out quite reasonable

5128gap · 31/07/2024 17:47

Perhaps they don't go out as much as you do to all these bean eating locations and what you saw was their weekly beans out treat, while normally they sit in and eat cheap beans by candle light.

RabbitsRock · 31/07/2024 17:49

DH prefers Heinz & I get them from FarmFoods when there’s an offer on. Tescos are nice & apparently they’re made by Heinz. Haven’t tried Branstons but several of my customers recommend them.

Beth216 · 31/07/2024 17:49

I mean we wouldn't eat more that one tin a week so it hardly breaks the bank even though they are comparatively expensive.

Sunnydiary · 31/07/2024 17:50

They’re all buying them on credit cards.

I can’t wait until the bailiffs come and repossess all my SILs beans.

BeaRF75 · 31/07/2024 17:50

Oh FFS, some people can afford champagne, lobster and caviare! Not all, but some. We all have different levels of income, and different spending priorities. And, let's face it, baked beans have never been considered a luxury item.....

yeesh · 31/07/2024 17:50

I’ve seen people in council estates buying Heinz, every other trolley had them in. I earn 100k and can only afford dented tins of dust

Maybe inheritance?

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 31/07/2024 17:51

Many of the people you see eating beans will have inherited them from their parents. Some families are made of beans.

Good point. Or perhaps their family is bulk buying heinz baked beans and giving them away to avoid inheritance tax?

BotterMon · 31/07/2024 17:52

I had them for dinner last night on a baked potato and finished them at lunch today on toast. Sold a kidney and have a 6 pack of Heinz BB that I eek out over the year.

AntoinetteCurtain · 31/07/2024 17:52

I saw someone eating Heinz beans in the back of a brand new BMW X5685 the other day, they also had a 90inch TV and a goat.

Bet they were swindling their benefits

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 31/07/2024 17:52

Even Asda essentials (previously smart price) beans are 27p. I remember when they were 4p.
Mind you, when ex and I first lived together 20 years ago we could get a leg of lamb for 97p and have a Sunday roast.
