Well how? My budget will only stretch to supermarket own brand beans, yet everywhere I look people are eating Heinz beans. How do they afford it?

We’re being robbed though. It’s cheaper to buy them in Spain, for example, than it is in bloody Asda.

"Won't be long, I'm just popping out to get some beans"

Comes home a week later with a tan and a hangover.

BeerForMyHorses · 31/07/2024 19:02

I use my trust fund solely for the purpose of Heinz beans (and ketchup)

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 31/07/2024 19:02

I bulk buy if they are on offer. If I run out it's marks and sparks own brand.

Did you remember the beans though?

Crap. Back to spain I go. Not sure this is working out cheaper though!

Branston in our house. Always bought when on special. Dh came shopping the other day and nearly died at the Branston price so I pointed out the heinz price! His response 'who the hell can afford that...they're not even nice!!'

Out of curiosity has anyone seen store own tinned spag bolognaise (not the basic range) ?? Can't find it in any of our local stores and i refuse the nearly £2 of heinz version.

Taking out loans/extending their mortgage/financial help from family I would guess?

Yup, I think it’s this sort of thing.
I saw someone eating Heinz beans the other day. I was so shocked that I literally had to ask them as I simply couldn’t comprehend how on Earth they found the £1.40 required.

Now I know they have good careers and earn north of £100k each, but that’s simply not enough for Heinz beans!!

Turns out an elderly relative died and left them a multi million inheritance last year. But still.. doesn’t seem enough I thought..

But they also mentioned they’d sold both cars and walk everywhere now. Ok.. I could see how you’d be getting closer to Heinz beans..

Also no holidays since 2007. ‘ah’ I thought to myself ‘I guess if you add all of that up Heinz beans now does seem doable’.

Hope that helps OP.

They’re not even nice!

I prefer branston, but ALDIs are a close second.

This. They’re awful.

Heard you can get quite a few tins in exchange for your right arm 😂

BarbedButterfly · 31/07/2024 19:11

How are people eating a tin. I eat a single bean and am done for 8 years. Greedy

ThreeTescoBags · 31/07/2024 19:11

I'm just amazed anyone can eat a whole baked bean, half an one for me and I'm stuffed. We've lost sight of how much of a baked bean is normal.

Miaowm · 31/07/2024 19:12

Maybe they buy own brand ketchup in order to afford the beans?

No wonder we have an obesity crisis eating a full bean, I cut it into 7 have a piece a day with a massive salad!

Whenwillitgetwarm · 31/07/2024 19:14

I’m a multi-millionaire and can afford the odd tin of HBB but I won’t buy it on principle. Instead I make my DC eat dented cans of own brand Asda which are reduced in price as they are about to go off. It’s important to keep the DC grounded and not living in a bubble.

Oblomov24 · 31/07/2024 19:16

We buy Heinz bbq beans. I haven't come across a decent alternative.

Eat? We just have a quick sniff each here and we're full!

Stealth brag 👆

I'm judging all you lazy buggers. 🤪

You should be making them from scratch with Cannellini beans and passata.

Batch cook and freeze

PS they will taste best if you use home grown herbs watered with the tears of nuns.

HJ83 · 31/07/2024 19:21

I’m just really regretting not getting on the bean ladder when I was younger.

I lease mine

alwaysmovingforwards · 31/07/2024 19:22

I remember reading a shocking story we should all be aware of;
Following a once in a lifetime special Heinz beans treat purchase, a very wealthy family carelessly put the empty can in the recycling bins.
Turns out someone on the councils recycling team was on the payroll of an organised crime gang and tipped off the boss.
The house was then specifically targeted and broken into the following night.
They lost absolutely everything poor souls and never fully recovered.

So please be careful people, there are eyes everywhere and eating Heinz beans clearly marks you as an ultra high new worth individual (UHNWI). Be safe x

Yes I know, I must have seen like thirty people eating beans today and they were all Heinz. It’s literally everywhere. When will the madness stop?

I've got to ask... where have you seen 30 people eating Heinz Beans in one day?!

To answer your question, my ND DD27 likes Heinz and only Heinz. She eats them as a main meal so I don't mind that they're more out of our food budget. I like Sainsburys own brand best and have those on a spud. Yummy!

I have a savings pot specifically for this that I contribute to each month. When I have enough I splash out on a 4 pack as I find that is the cheapest way.
